So monday morning what we gonna listen to?

Well imo the man was simply superb. And the fact people.get so irate about him makes him even better. He was so entertaining and so funny The greatest radio show there’s been.

Im gutted they’ve gone. Radio 1 is about to die (again). As said before the audience there targeting are to busy with ipods etc to listen to the radio.

Grimmy is ok but not for me. But i have to say he is a brave man, there some big old shoes to fill. Whatever he does think he’s gonna get some stick.

Last two Moyles shows were brilliant. Had lump in me throat a few times.

Still, me misses got me tickets to see them at the o2 in November. Happy dayz.

Radio 2 for me all the way.

I’m 41 (if that makes any odds)

Alex Lester, not bad at all. Quite amusing.

Vanessa Feltz, despise her with a passion, stuck up cow. Only works for 90 minutes but still has to provide us with a “potted history of the show so far” an hour into it. Always finished with “and now, I’m (lowering myself by) talking to you”

Chris Evans, I thought he’d make a complete balls of it, but I actually think he’s doing a fine job.

Ken Bruce, a tad cheesy, although I’m pretty good at popmaster. I can put up with him.

Jeremy Vine. Music ok, but he doesn’t half discuss some dross topics.

Steve Wright. Thinks he’s still in the 80’s, only problem is, the bits he’s left out of his old R1 show, are the bits that made it funny. Old woman? Tim Smith? Janey-Lee Grace? WTF?

Simon Mayo. Highly amusing, deserves a better slot.

As much as I can tolerate Ken Bruce, I think the show is better when Zoe Ball stands in, and I always thought Mark Radcliffe and Liza Tarbuck did a brill job of filling in for Steve Wright.

My £0.02 is now spent

You must work some hours if you can listen to all them radio 2 shows in the one day!!!

Alex Lester is brilliant. Mad as a box of frogs and plays proper rock music.

Usually I work 10pm till around 8am, and my music goes as follows.

10-Midnight CD Player
Midnight-2 - Janice Long, unless she’s got a guest on, in which case it’s continue with CDs.
2-5 - Alex Lester
5-6.30 - Dev @ Radio 1
6:30 till finish - Moyles.

Now there’ll be CDs after Dev I imagine.

Any key else notice the whole “last ever news/weather/segment OF THE MORNING” line that used a fair few times?

How much truth is in it I don’t know but celebritain.com/latest-briti … ow/3511267

Would add weight to Moyles being back soon but doing a late night show instead!!

+1 Radio 2 all the way,who wants to listen to that radio 1 noise,as for the idiot that has just left radio 1 total ,too many words available

Ive listened to Moyles since he started at radio 1 so by default that makes me too old to be a radio 1 listener, personally i think the BBC will end up regretting this decision in a big way as Grimmy has no chance of filling those boots. Im sick of all the haters complaining about Moyles and how crap they thought him and his team were, that thing on your radio is an off button - use it and shut up whinging, he may have been the self-proclaimed saviour of radio 1 but as much as youll probably disagree this is very true and mornings will never be the same again for 8 million people - 12 percent of the total population cant be wrong. Rant over.

I would like to see him get the Steve Wright slot on Radio 2 as going on people`s opinions it would seem that his popularity is waning.

My usual listening is…
Alex Lester, till the despicable patronising feltz. Then over to radio 6 on my phone for Chris Hawkins followed by Shaun Keavney. If no signal then its usually radio 4 or mp3s.
Midday Jeremy vine or radio 4.
2 pm the archers followed by the play. Would rather eat my own testes than listen to Steve Wright, so radio 4 until 5 pm then it’s Simon mayo and then it’s radio 2 right through to bed time. Unless I listen to the archers at 7.
If I had no signal on my phone then I sometimes used to listen to moyles. Enjoyed the banter but don’t like the radio 1 playlist. Been out and got a digital radio this weekend so it looks like from now on (signal dependent) it will be radio 6, 4 and 4 extra all day now!

On monday mornings I usually leave the radio off until about dinnertime. It’s nice to have a bit of peace and quiet after two days with Mrs Swedish Steel!

I think the bosses at Radio1 have got it wrong big time like other have said 8million listeners cant be wrong. There is only a few DJ left on Radio 1 that i will listen to Dev/Vernon kay/Trever nelson. as for what am i going to listen to on monday Radio 2 i think (lets hope moyles makes it on to Radio 2 some day)

i can tolerate moyles i cantsee grimmy being any good and looks like i will be listening to him as the works radio is set to r1

Never heard a good word yet for Vanessa Feltz give him her show, or better still replace him for Evans.

bluenose:
Thank [zb] the gobby ■■■■ head has gone, about 7 years too late.

+1

I used to be an R2 listener. Now I listen to nothing. I drive all the way to Poland/Romania/Portugal/Italy wherever in complete silence. It’s brilliant.

Just watched that last show on YouTube it was quite emotional.

I enjoyed listening to his show every morning and I’m in my 20s. It always put a smile on my face proper made me laugh at times. Just the type of show you need in the mornings when you start work to put you in a good mood.

It won’t be the same now, don’t really know what I’m going to take a new liking too

Agreed, everyone I speak too says the same, and that’s Radio 2 gets switched off at 5am! Can’t stand feltz, Moyles would be great in that slot!

Slightly off subject if I was to listen to radio through the phone how much bandwith does it use. Just downloaded a free android app called tunein its staggering the selection of shows that is in there use it at home at the moment on WiFi.

Listened to Moyles since he was on afternoons but cant say im gutted he has gone only other show on radio I like is Alex Lester and some of the Radio 2 one offs Dance classics and Brian Johnson spring to mind.

Absolute radio usually pretty good the Christian o Connell breakfast show

Now sit round children and I’ll tell you a story,

Many years ago, probably before most of you who are complaining about Chris Moyles leaving can remember, before digital radios and even before mobile phones and the internet :open_mouth: Yes there was such a time. in fact we even thought a programmable VCR was the work of the devil.

Radio 1 had a load of DJ’s who had been with the station for years, some since it’s inspection in 1967. They thought they were the greatest DJ’s in the land and there audience loved them. But to the young listeners of the land they just sounded like sad old men. They wanted to listen to DJ’s who they could relate to not one that sounded like their Dads.

Dads listened to Radio 2, but they were never going to do that (oh the naivety of youth  ). Radio 2 was for sad old people, you know 30+ They stopped listening, instead they played cassette tapes or found new radio stations, with young and fun DJ’s.

The chiefs at the BBC Radio got worried and bought in a new man to sort out radio 1, he started to get rid of the old DJ’s, they made a fuss and told people that Radio 1 would die without them, :open_mouth: some of the loyal fans agreed, :frowning:

but the new man bought in young and exciting DJ’s and mixed them with some old DJ’s who were like really trendy Grandads, who loved the music more than themselves.

Not all the new DJ’s were were perfect and some were to much trouble, but the young people started to listen to Radio 1 again and Radio 1 was saved and the BBC radio chiefs were happy and said that Radio 1 must never be allow DJ’s to think they are bigger than the station and to stay in a place for so many years that their show is older than the listeners.

Bring back Mark & Lard, they were ■■■ brill!!!
