Well when i told my boss about all these "regulations " etc she asked me what i required so i made a list for her
1 Comfatable bed wide enough to lie on my back and long enough to stretch out
2 washing facillities built in
3 proper temp control for heater
4 cupboards to stow my gear
5 carpet on floor for me bare feet
6 nice curtains thick enough to block outside light
7 tv/dvd/freeview
8 microwave/oven
9 phoned i can use anytime
10 comfy chair to relax in at night
and guess what!!! she said yep you can have all of those
Can anybody help me with this one i heard this week in Bordaux from a German driver!!!
As of the 1 jan 2010 in Spain you are not allowed to to take your daily rest in a truck during the day unless, the truck is fitted with a Battery run airconditioner, because of such heat during the day yoü will not get more 6 hours sleep
The drivers head must be 16 feet away from the steering wheel!!! I know cos my mates mums brothers dad mothers uncles dogs mate told him so, in the ■■■■ and Bull Public House the other night, when we had 18 foot of snow.
I believe if you go to Germany you need a night heater to night out. Not sure if thats a EU law not implemented by any others or a German thing. Brit Pete may be along soon and tell us?

Coffeholic is this what you are waiting for ,I think sleepers should be ban… and night outs spent in 3 star hotels
That reminds me of the one posted by a well known member here who reckoned that if you hadn’t got a sleeper cab the company has to book you into a four star hotel
Mike-C . I do not belive it is a law, However, the employer, would be getting in to trouble, if the driver is sent out continuously in a vehicle which has no night heater, and has to overnight ,which means freezing the whole night through, (it is against the law to run your engine when parked up,unless you are useing the ;;PTO)IF THE DRIVER becomes ill because of the lack of a night heater, the employer would if found at fault deep in the proverbial,Saying that I do know of that some small firms do run with no sleepercab, and no night heater and the drivers , just do not care as they have a job The majority of firms do have night heaters it is a small minority that do not,if it is a emergencey job and the lorry has a broken nightheater, then YES for the one trip, that is no problem BUT then it has to be repaired, when back on the yard,

What about the one where you cant have more than 2 consecutive nights out in a cab you are unable to stand up in?
Thats me stuffed cos Im short!
Why would anybody want to sleep standing up ?
I,ve had some laughs as I,ve been reading through this lot since it was first posted. That one by “Suedehead”,has got to be the best response of the lot.
As of April the 1st, the steering wheel must be on the opposite side to the drivers seat and all mirrors must face forward, trailers must not be reversed on to loading bays and you may only change a wheel if all tyres are pumped up, and touching the floor.

But it was almost this one. Mike missed the bit were the German police will come along and put you in a hotel if you haven’t got a night heater.

There must have been dozens of German drivers turned away from Shell Stanlow as it was a requirement to remove the night heater before entry on the plant
This law is true if you have 2 bunks fitted as it will be used by 2 people. You have to have a XXl/ssc/globby cab. If not, by law you must book into the nearest 3* Hotel NOT 4* people always get that bit wrong.
Ask V8 actros he told me about this one…and a vosa man told him…so it must be true!
I used to drive an r cab scania 6 days 5 nights out then 5 days 4 nights out for a mug who told me you didn’t need a topline in the uk. He couldn’t answer when I said what’s the difference in being parked in madrid or manchester, and could i have a topline and go to Calais to tip, as I was sick of driving an r cab to Aberdeen. He didn’t work in a broom cupboard either, you may or may not be surprised to hear
