Hi all, well i don’t know if this one has been do on here sorry if it has , i’ve been told that from 1st Jan 2010 all sleeper cab should be high roof, and have a bed down all the time, cause where i work there are 3 of us that have night’s out in DAF LF’s, so has the boss got to change the truck’s from next year
, or have we got to wait till 5 year’s time when they are due for change
!!!
Sounds like BS to me. Very unlikely I would say.

I have no idea whether that’s actually trues, but, I can guess its very unlikely to be.
Oh FFS, not again…
dont know if its true or not this time, but this law has been coming into force usually on april 1st 1998/99/2000/01/02/03/04/05/06/07/08
at least they’ve brought it forward this year

Was just thinking that it must be at least 2 weeks since someone mentioned this and unfortunately it was also 2 weeks since someone believed it.
I think this rumour first started in ancient China, about 15mins after the invention of the wheel, since then some Village Idiot or another modifies it a bit until now in the 21st century we must all have SuperMegaTopTrotters, even on 8 wheeled tippers, complete tripe mate.
Remember who told you this rubbish & give him a wide berth next time, he’ll be easy to spot, he’ll be the one telling you that Stobart have gone bust/bought out your firm/blah blah/bah as he climbs into his DAY CAB
Are there any laws regarding sleeper cabs and if yes, what are they

Yes there are laws.
-
It must have a bunk.
-
…Err actually that’s it. Just number 1.
Doesn’t even have to be a slepper cab, a day cab with a fold down bunk is legal.
Of the many drivers Urban Legends this is one of the longest running and is only down to wishful thinking by some drivers. The person who spouts this bit of nonsense also may inform you of another piece of BS - You must sleep with your head ■■ cms/imches/feet/metres/kilometres/miles from the steering wheel.

I notice that there is noting about night heaters or the right of a driver to keep warm - is there no laws regarding that issue anywhere
PS - I know the factories act (or something like it ) has such laws but does that also cover drivers whether they be driving or on a night out
I was told that to have a proper break you had to be 1.8 metres away from the wheel. The guy had an O licence, ran his own fleet of trucks and knew his stuff inside out. Was he winding me up?
I’ve stuffed it then, our day cab trucks mean you have to sit behind the wheel on your break…I think he’s pulling your chain. Personally I like to sleep about 25miles away from the truck,at home in my own bed.

Assuming you mean the steering wheel, how could you have a break in the cab if you had to be 1.8 meters from the wheel.

Easy - set of tools, remove steering wheel and put in back of truck - sorted
there is a minimum cubic area that you are allowed to work in under euro law and even day cabs are within it, so its just a mith. pity .

I,ll second that Harry. It,s a good job that bit of (make-believe )legislation did not come out when I was punting about in my old F86 Volvo with the Scaffolding board hanging behind the seat for a bed. I never did get round to measuring how far my kip was from the steering wheel. It,s a bloody wonder I survived doing 5 nights out a week, and sometimes being away for 3 weeks over the water.

do some simple maths, 1.8 metres is almost 6 feet, is your bunk that far away from your steering wheel?
