A very interesting question among international drivers, Irish Lorries! I can swear very colourfully in English, and always have done. However, I always avoid swearing in ‘foreign’! I recognise that swearing in English has everything to do with nuance: tone of voice, expression, intonation, pause, context etc. Swearing, far from being the lowest form of communication is an art! I dare not swear in other languages, so I don’t. When I taught in Italy, Turkey and Egypt, my kids were at great pains to teach me how to swear in their languages, but I avoided it like the plague - too much to go wrong. Likewise the Dutch drivers taught me how to swear over the water. Best to learn how to praise and admire in foreign languages: safer!

Och! I’m awful sorry, if I didnee went off the topic a wee bit and I didnee ken I was doing it! Robert

Well said, cariad bach (sorry about spelling)! I’m divided amongst myself on the issue: I’m all for ‘live and let live’ but in the guts, leaving Scotland would be a greater wrench than leaving Europe! Robert :open_mouth:

You’ll see massive changes. I hear the old port in Tangier is finished and everything has moved up the coast several miles. There are motorways, everything! I envy you: maybe I’ll go back and look at Morocco one day. I’m off to Algeria next month, that should be interesting! Anyway, Steve, we mustn’t hijack this thread when there’s a perfectly good North Africa one! Robert
