Scottish Referendum

The Scots are quite at liberty to make their own democratic choice either way as is their right. However,as far as England is concerned supposing the vote turned out to be a “Yes” well we couldn’t allow a Borderless banana republic to spring up on our door step and yet be allow the Scots to continue happily along as if nothing had changed !! Salmond and his side kick Nicola seem to think they can dictate their own terms after the possible split well I believe they will both be in for a nasty shock when they have to wake up and smell the coffee, they might not believe that a sealed border is required but it most certainly will for both road and rail.I bet it won’t take the Ileagals very long to find out that Scotland will be an ideal entry point to gain access to (Eldorado) England, that is of course if they can push through the crowds of Scots trying gain entry to England at Berwick and Gretna eh! Interesting times are-a-coming of that there is no doubt.cheers Bewick.

Always thought you were One of the sensible Ones on here until you spouted this load of absolute crap.

Ben.

Just another possible outcome “spiced up a wee bit”,so don’t “take a powder” Ben there is no malice intended honest ! But lets face it,even Salmond hasn’t got a flying ■■■■ how circumstances will unfold if he does manage to scrape home with a Yes vote but there’s one thing for certain they won’t unfold in the manner with which he is claiming they will. The two main Banks will bail out of Edinboro’ for a start as 95% of their business is in England and that will go for the big Insurers as well and along with the Banks you can kiss goodbye to 100,000 jobs, well that will at least help with the unemployment register in England for sure, well it will be every man (or country) for themselves eh! Unpalatable I realise but economic common sense none the less. But who am I to preach,it’s only a personal opinion and will probably be way off the mark as it may be ten times worse in reality Cheers Bewick.

Double spot on Dennis, As you have said when the ■■■■ hits the fan , Who will take the blame then,? Regards Larry.

Salmond and his gang should be publically flogged for whipping up such a wave of emotion over realism.

The outcome of a Yes vote is such a serious matter that relying on fairy tales and denying reality is a crime.

The cost of devolution will be immense both for Scotland and England. Already international confidence in our economy is wavering. We rely on international finance and it will desert Scotland and also England will struggle to convince the world that we are not going to become a basket case. Confidence is everything and voting for bluster and bravado against economic realism does no service to the impression of Scottish competence at all.

Nonsense, I note your friend Gordon Brown has got involved in the debate offering more incentives, oh dear. I assume that you live in the North of England, an area that gets a very raw deal from Westminister, like Scotland.

It’s all spin, noting but spin, Blair would be proud of you spinning like this. The people of Scotland want to break free from Westminister.

Yes McWilliam but why? What do you perceive to be the benefits?

Yes McWilliam but why? What do you perceive to be the benefits?

Being free the Scottish people, can:-

  • Develope a more balanced industrial base
  • Have a fairer society where the rich do not become richer,
  • Not get involved in wars like invading Iraq, or upsetting Russia
  • Stop the concentration of power being based in London & South East England.

We Scottish should have the confidence to run our own country. Examine the record of the Westminster parliament. Hardly one of outstanding success is it?

Thanks very much indeed McWilliam. That’s the first positive response we’ve had from the Yes side!!

I respect your opinions but would of course disagree that the break up of the union will achieve any of it.

One small thing, not wanting to upset Russia is a little bit like not annoying that nice Mr. Hitler!

I hope all you President Salmond supporters have taken note of what your slight leap up the polls has done to the Scottish business shares yesterday prices dropped Billions wiped off.
And as an expert on it says this is just the earth tremor if they do get Independence it will be the full Earthquake they are being warned day in and day out about how many scotch companies are going to move south do they take notice no.

So I am a NO. Eddie.

I do think the nation as whole needs a re-distribution of power and commerce and culture away from London, for the sake of the country, and in this respect the referendum may have done well by the whole nation.

At present, arrangements support the perception that the country exists to serve London … and not that the capital exists to serve the country.

Well do not moan when Scottish industry is being closed down by Westminister

So I am a YES.

I thought we had seen the back of the odious quisling Gordon Brown after he almost managed to destroy this country. And yet here he is… the worst prime minister in living memory, who never won a general election, now promising the earth to Scotland, at the expense of taxpayers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Without exaggerating, this is sickening.

From a poor old haulier’s viewpoint I’m hoping for a YES vote. I’ll double my rates for Scottish bound loads, International transport, foreign destination. Bring it on. :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

Hear ye are have a laugh. Eddie.

Aye, he can live in hope.

I’m no fussed either way but I’ve become a wee bit alarmed to-day seeing on the news these slime ball politicians from the three “establishment” political parties offering all kinds of juicy incentives (bribes) for the Scots to vote NO.Well IMO they already get more than their fair share of handouts and these ■■■■■ are offering more !! WHY ? If the Scots want independence I say let them have it,no need to ■■■■ about with a referendum because if they had one in England it would be an overwhelming " Goodbye and Good luck" Only trouble is that once it has all turned to ■■■■■■■■■■■ whole cop for the blame, why Li’l 'ol England and we’ll be daft enough to bail them out same as we did with RBS and HBoS to the tune of £billions.Hears a good idea, lets have a double referendum in England which is to leave the EU and give the Scots their independence!!     Bewick.

Oh yes if there is a no vote, we went “devo max” & increased Westminister spending on Scotland.

It is the English regions who will get a raw deal from this.
