Scottish Referendum

erfguy:
As a Scotsman here we are at 6 pages and the majority of them are by Englishmen strikes me you are more interested in the Referendum than us Scots are, Oh and now Carryfast has joined in it will go to 14 pages without any problem. Eddie.

Aleast we haven’t went way of topic like the illegal immigrants found in the container

I just hope that the polls are correct and that the No campaign is going to be 10 per cent ahead on polling day!

Not long now

For some strange reason,it has not been explained why the Conservative party are so keen to keep the union together, when they will have no opposition at the next general election if there is a YES vote. Without the 41 labour MP’s from Scotland there will not be enough Labour candidates in England , northern Ireland and Wales to create an opposition to the conservatives. Or is there some kind of collusion going on behind our backs to keep themselves in a job.

Jamie, the title of the party is the Conservative and Unionist Party!

Hi Andy,The Conservative and Unionist party have not been doing a very good job of uniting the kingdom when of the 59 MP’s in Scotland they have only 1 elected MP in Westminster. I rest my case.

I think he’s referring to Muslim extremists - The Taliban and ISIS for example. If wet don’t all stand up to them we’ll be in trouble big time.

If it’s all about muslim extremists then we’ve got ( a lot ) more to fear from our own government’s immigration policies than the bs idea that not keeping the union between England and Scotland going would make the slightest difference in that regard.

At present the only argument being put up in favour of it is that Scotland supposedly needs to be tied to England to survive and it will stop ethnic Muslim Asians living in England from following the radical Islamic line.Based on exactly what evidence. While at best it means that we are paying a fortune just to allow the Scottish to determine English government policy.

Now the proverbial will really hit fan if “The great man from Leatherhead” a.k.a. “CF” has joined in and is now going to take an active interest in proceedings. Bewick.

Now that should be an interesting ‘divide & rule’ tactic: a 21st Century Glasgow with its own Caliphate, complete with a dreamy skyline of domes and minarets - the Fox & Gynacologist chaikhana (strong tea, no beer); the Wombat & Obstretician (Turkish coffee, mezze, shisha but no wine)… Robert

Or in other words LabLibDemCon immigration policy applied to Scotland if that doesn’t make them vote out nothing will.Although I think we’re probably talking more like the havoc of Syria and Iraq on the streets of Britain in the long term than Turkey.Although having said that I think Salmand is more of a bleeding heart socialist in that regard than Miliband or Clegg’s lot.

Blimey Bewick I’ve been posting here now at least since yesterday.I’m working on the idea of changing UKIP to the Wessex and Mercia Independence Party. :smiling_imp:

If the Scots want independance why are the English trying to stop them, I just fear if there is a yes vote then the English will sent in the tanks like they did in the six counties.

It’s a reasonable bet that if the Unionist government here doesn’t get the answer it wants it will probably just ‘forget’ about the whole thing by stalling the actual implementation of any potential secession of Scotland on a continuous basis.

Make no mistake in general the idea of the ‘union’ has been something wrong in the mindset of the English from the outset.Which seems to have been transferred down the generations to date.

Fixed that. To clarify, not everyone wants independence, my vote will be a no.

The relevant bit is that Cameron is leader of the Conservative Unionist Party. It’s the Unionist part of that which is what it’s all about from Cameron’s and his Party’s point of view. The same flaw applies in the case of UKIP in being a so called anti federalist Party while supporting the same tired centuries old English ideology and policy of ‘union’ in the case of what should be the seperate nation states of the British Isles. While if Salmand is as passionate about the idea of nationalism as he’d like to think he is then he also wouldn’t be supporting membership of the EU federation.

This ^^ Nor would he want to retain the Queen as head of state.
