Samworth brothers?

I went for an assessment and interview with these guys on wednesday, just got told today that I had been successful .
Got to wait a few weeks before start as they are in
Consultation with Thier current drivers over rota’s and pay, does anyone here have any more info on this?
And I forgot to ask them if it’s weekly pay?

I used to work for them in leicester before they parted with my services after a little altercation with a security guard. They offer some of the best terms and conditions in the industry, final salary pension, private health care etc, however, and i speak from previous experience, they offer no support for there drivers, if ever a complaint is made they will allways back the complainant, at one point the leicester depot was known as discipline city. i still regualarly socialise with some of there drivers and they are all moaning at the moment as they are having there hours cut, they would appear to be employing more drivers rather than paying overtime rate to current drivers. they are moving to a 4 on 4 off system in bristol, how this affect there pay sceme im not sure, but there current pay is around ÂŁ8.20 ph for 39hrs, time and half after that and saturdays, double time on sundays and triple time on bank holidays, you also get an extra 33% of the ÂŁ8.20ph for any hours between 1800 and 0600. they also use standard run times so effectivley its job and knock, they also do a profit share wich in past years has equated to an extra week wages, this year was well down on that, around ÂŁ200,
they are starting to turn the screw on wages they possibly realise they are paying over the odds in todays market, in my last year there i earnt 36k for a sunday to thurs day shift averaging around 12 hrs a day. in summary they are a good outfit with good kit and as long as they dont loose there food contract with toscos will be there for the long haul.

Apparently they’ve just put all their drivers on 4 on 4 off, £24,000 days £25,000 nights, and it was always weekly paid.

As far as i can remember being told, they said that they couldn’t yet give an
Accurate figure on salary because of the consultations, but ball park would be between ÂŁ24something and ÂŁ28something.
Let’s hope that they aren’t starting to restructure the drivers to be in line with every other job in this sector, that would be a shame as I’m sure people will agree that a certain level of salary does seem To bring out a certain level of employee, they start averaging with wages, they will average with staff and end up averaging the whole business.

With what I’ve heard I think that’s what they are trying to do, I did incidentally get the job but didn’t take it because its too easy for them too alter your pay, downwards.

bald bloke:
Had an interview and assessment Tuesday and it seem to go ok but won’t know till next week. I’ve searched on here for some recent stuff about them but couldn’t find much so anybody got any answers to the usual questions etc, thanks.

They rent a section of our yard and warehouse in Avonmouth and the drivers I get chatting to seem happy enough, good kit and regular runs most days not that I could do the same run everyday.

I would often talk to there drivers , I’m sure they were paid x amount of hours per run , one of the lads I talked to did Bristol - morr sittingbourne - evercreach - Bristol , think he was paid 12/13 hrs for that run , but some days of the week it was Bristol - sittingbourne - Bristol so would park up for a few hours as my understanding was if he got back 1/2 hrs early they’d cut the hours paid for the run , it was along time ago , so may of changed
