Calm down, you’ll have ulcers soon at the rate you’re going…
He’s only 24, or thereabouts, as far as I remember. I’m no Mystic Meg but I see high blood pressure, ulcers and a cardiac arrest in his not too distant future.

i half expect you to be a class 2 only driver as that would explain a lot to me
It’s in no way relevant but I’m sure from other posts he drives an Class C on music gig work.

Happened to me this morning. From what I’ve read on here this seems to be happening pretty often.Had my cruise control on 50mph. I kinda second guessed that he might go for it. Couldn’t move over, then out he came!
Is 2 seconds out of your working day really that important or could you have eased off.
I’m going to have to agree with the OP on this one, these kinds of incidents are becoming a regular thing on our roads today, only last night I had a very similar close call, I was travelling south on the M11 and just as I passed the entry slip road at junction 10 a Polish driver came straight over onto lane one forcing me to swerve over into lane two, luckily lane two was empty and he was at junction 9 but still was too close for comfort

If lane 2 was empty why didn’t you move over anyway to let him in?

Re read Darbs post, not quite the support for the op that it first seems. Darb I think you need to put a couple of smileys to help us there.

I guess it’s not easy driving a left ■■■■■■ in this country ,but surely if you’re vision is impaired you would take extra care by stopping at the end of the layby and spend a second or two too try and and make sure your exit is as safe as possibleEh?
So you stop and then when you see a gap big enough you start a heavy vehicle moving from a dead stop and by the time you are out of the lay-by that gap is a hell of a lot smaller.
Or
You ‘trundle’ down the lay-by watching for a gap you can merge into and when you see one, especially as it is a fellow truck driver way down the road who will likely sympathise with your situation and assist you, at which point you increase speed in an already moving vehicle thus getting up to speed quicker as there is less resistance to break to get the thing moving and being less of a hazard while doing so
Realistically in this case it can only be a combination of the two.
The problem being that even if he is lucky enough to be parked far enough back to use the lay by as an acceleration lane he’d still have to then lose most of the speed because of the ridiculous design of the sharp turn at the lay by exit and non existent entry slip for the dual carriageway.Whereas any sensible road planner would have brought the lay by entry and dual carriageway exit slip further back along the unused verge and then made the lay by exit and dual carriageway entry slip correspondingly longer thereby allowing vehicles to exit the lay by and enter the dual carriageway at the right angle and the right speed.
Meanwhile for the information of the half witted moron who designed the lay by this is how to do the job properly.

How bloody inconsiderate of you, you saw him going a mile away but at no time did you let of and you wonder why we all get a bad name.
You “guessed” he might go for it and still you came on barreling down trying to prove a point? The only point you are proving is that you are a pr!ck.
best thing to go with the dash cam is swich it off and get on with the job![]()
I bet you didn’t even have your lights on, he never saw you while you had a clear view of what was going on but decided to keep on coming.

The Romanian truck is at fault here.
If you look properly at the footage he has pulled out totaly blind as his truck would be left hand drive and he is leaving the layby at an angle.
He would of left the layby with no way of knowing if anything was coming.
If any of you have driven a lhd truck before you might not be so quick to have a go at the Hammy.
I have seen this happen many times and witnesed an accident when a Spanish truck pulled out of a filling station blind and caused an accident on the A1 a while back.
Hammy looked like he was driving at a sensible speed and clearly could not pull over due to faster moving traffic passing.
The problem with this forum is some people have nothing better to do than slag off other people.Totally blind? do you not think he would have been using his near side wide angle mirror to see whats coming? most, unlike the OP use mirrors to see whats coming up behind them!
He could have had his mate in the passenger seat also looking, saying your ok, but we have an inconsiderate English driver coming who wont go into lane 2 even though there is gap big enough for him.
Look at the angle of the truck before he leaves the layby , he can’t possibly see no matter what mirror he uses.
If he did have his mate with him telling him it was ok to pull out in front of another truck he must be blind as well.
You obviously have not driven a lhd truck ,if you had you would not be talking a load of rubbish.

God help us ,we’ve now got drivers who won’t stop and join a carriage way safely because they find pulling away in a HEAVY lorry difficult ,who the zb issuedthem with licences

I would have thought that the fact I stated we were at different junctions and also I put up the biggest smiley available would have been enough but …
With regard to the driver with the camera, the lorry test does expect you to anticipate the actions of other road users and back off. I also doubt the wisdom of using the cruise-control on a busy A-road in the UK. However, someone still pulled out in front of him.
With regard the driver who pulled out.The rule of the road is: if you can’t see to go, you don’t [zb] go! But modern (and even not-so-modern) lorries have electrically adjustable mirrors. When I drove LHD units in Britain I made use of these mirrors in exactly this kind of circumstance. Robert

really
how does the saying go
"CANT SEE MY MIRRORS I CANT SEE YOU "
I’ve blown that image up and can clearly see his mirrors ALL of them ad his blind mirror should and prob was set to catch the rear edge of the trailer
As most people know, to get out of a layby in a 44t truck from 0-50mph on today’s overcrowded roads is most likely going to inconvenience some drivers whether they have to slow up or move into lane 2. Most drivers understand and make allowances but sadly some such as the OP do not. Whether the truck is a left or right ■■■■■■ is irrelevant.
I’d like to have seen a bit more of this dashcam footage because I bet the OP pulled into the very next layby to get it uploaded to youtube as fast as possible.
And Darb, I completely misread your post as well

I don’t need to drive a left hand drive truck to know how much can be seen down the near side with the wide angle mirror, I can see plenty thanks, if you can’t, you probably need to adjust it properly!!!
