Public opinion Re The Daily Mail

Buycrider:
.

Insofar as this statement by Luke Vernon is concerned --"The Daily Mail is a disgusting publication. I despise it completely. I have a very low opinion of both it and the people who read it"quote-- I take that as a post worthy of a truly virulent. Mail reader. Small minded, strident, and bigoted. :smiling_imp:
.

Take it how you like old bean. When your from a minority that’s had so much hate, bile and crap thrown at you over the years from said publication you tend to hate it. Even worse since most of its readers are sheep who can’t think for themselves and therefore it drives public opinion. I just don’t get why people read it. I dislike The Sun but I understand why people read it, it’s a well put together tabloid. But the Mail? If you don’t want a red top then why the Mail? Why not the Times, a far superior paper in every way (even though it’s a Murdoch title).

Just out of interest how do any of you find time to read so many papers? I can’t even find enough spare to read one let alone several.

Statement by Mr Luke Vernon.

The daily mail is far superior to its rival the daily express. Its not a bad paper, the times is better but you need time to read them. The sun it is for a quick read even though its a paper for peasants. Im trying to wean myself off the newspaper habit.

I think the Daily Express is far superior, who else could find a new story about Princess Diana every day 14 years after her crash?

I’ve just seen a wagon driver, driving with his elbows… … words fail me.

He would most likely be rolling a ■■■ as you need to use both hands to put the bacca in the paper

There is photos on the Daily Wail site of the Motorway re-opened where the crash happened.Granted there is a lot of cars tailgating clearly haven’t learnt a ■■■■ thing.Still there is trucks getting up close and personal with each other and cars.
A few people have noticed and commented it’s not just the trucks getting too close but mostly cars doing the conga.

The amount of freight on the roads these days makes any road journey a nightmare. Most freight used to be carried by rail, nowadays most of it is on the motorways. The government should make an effort to get freight back on the railways before these accidents become the norm.

paul from rochester must have been born in the 1920’s last time i looked my local morrisons didn’t have a rail yard at the rear of it.thick as ■■■■■■ ■■■■. in this day and age of email and conference/ video calls is there really any need for mr bmw / audi driving reps to burn up the miles on the motorway network which in my opinion are far worse drivers then anyone else.

When that airliner crashed onto the M1 near Castle Donnington years ago I fully expected the Mail headline to be “Truck hits aircraft on M1 Motorway”. Apologise if that is in bad taste, but things havent improved in the public eye regarding HGV’s since those days.

Hiya Pete…did you know this…when the plane come down at east midlands, it hit the north bound carrigeway then up the bank…their was no vehicles involved and nothing was said…further down the M1
someone near a brige had spilled/thrown nails all over the motorway. there was many cars with punchers
while this was going on the plane crashed across the road no vehicles involved…■■■■■ or not.

Don’t know if this has been posted yet, but this Daily Mail headline generator never fails to raise a smile.

Yes I remember it well, certainly a miracle that no vehicles were involved even though it was at a quiet (ish) time of day. The local ‘anti truck brigade’ at the time had mentioned that an HGV was involved without knowing the facts, I suppose that they assumed that there would be road vehicles involved, and were made to look silly when proved wrong but their comment has always stuck in my memory.

Pete.

oh it’ll be one of those clique things some people twitter on about!

I DON’T KNOW WHAT WE’RE YELLING ABOUT.

You look like a blueberry!

I’ve had my fill of the “50 mph max and only use the left lane” lentil knitters; We should do a week/month pandering to these wishes and then see how they cope when merging on and exiting dcs and motorways…let them push each other into the crash barriers when overtaking convoys of slow moving lorries.

I don’t think it does drive ‘public opinion’. I can explain why i read it easily. It produces stories that go against the current socio/political norms, or the way we are supposed to think. If it wasn’t there then who else will question what they bring up? You always need some sort of balance, it wouldn’t do for everyone to think the same and agree, it doesn’t make for a healthy environment, even mentally.
The truth is if you are remotley interested in any news story you’re as well to check for other news sources and find out the truth rather than believe anyones headlines. There’s always got to be someone breathing down your neck, it keeps us on top form !!!
True it may attract comments from people who pick up on a head line line…“immigrants cost the uk economy 2billion a year”…or some such other eyewatering headline. It doesn;t make everyone who reads it a bigot or whatever, some of us can sift through the ■■■■■■■■ whilst enjoying the discomfort it gives policy makers/government bodies/public authorities. And of course you can always read the Gruniad the next day and discover that immigrants actually make the economy richer by 6 billion a year, or some other such counteracting statement
Bigots tend to have a one sided view, even worse is someone who wants to deny you your view.
