POLL: Are you in debt?

puntabrava:
I would imagine you know very little of many peoples financial situation.

When I was a ‘Captain of Industry’ . . . (cue SwitchLogic & its puppets) . . .

See, we’re all laughing Walter.

Ok, it’s AT you and not WITH you, but hey, it’s a start!

Yes, you really strike me as an industry leader :sunglasses:

Chas, if you really did do the work of the corporate assassin on your former colleagues, and save the company umpteen thousands as a result, why are you not still there reaping the rewards.

Genuine question by the way.

As for the mass shopping operation by delving into personal finances, well maybe thats how captains of industry behave, cutting colleagues careers off by plunging metaphorical knives into their backs is presumably how one gets on, sooner you than me…its hardly the behaviour of an honourable chap.

Think I owe the wheelie bin cleaner 2 weeks money, and a mate 50p for a bet I lost :frowning:

blah blah blah … :unamused:

Good constructive reply-will take your advice on board - given your insightful and fulsome response it is clear that some of the advice hasn’t quite hit home, so let me be a tad more forthright

the admin team have the edit and delete button- you don’t. either post constructively , be prepared to be premoderated , or disappear into the ether, its entirely your choice , all of the options are easy on our part as far as trolls go you are by far perhaps the easiest to deal with, the good ones at least can put a decent argument together at the most a 2/10 and that’s being kind- now either post respectfully, troll properly or just go way- all options I am happy with .

I think there is a link between debt and bad driving. All bad drivers have debt and the good drivers have none, why is that

There isn’t a link between “bad debt” and “driving ability” any more than there is a connection between being “good looking” and “hot in bed”.

Get some hot bird, and she’ll expect you do to all the work, pay for everything, and then just lays there and takes it when you wanna lay some pipe.
Thanks. I’ll stick with the girl-next-door type who’s grateful, than some dolly bird that doesn’t even say ‘please’. (I like girls that say ‘please’)

You can also be the biggest helmet in the universe, without actually having a big helmet… I’m sure we all know some idiot who’s also an arse at the same time… :stuck_out_tongue:

ATTENTION! SOCK PUPPETS ASSEMBLE!

You were a captain of industry? Good lord how come you never mentioned it? Tell us your story Chas, I’m sure its fascinating. Then I’ll tell you about how I was the real first man on the moon.

Chas:

Translation…

You know, the thought just occurred to me, did you used to be one of my ■■■■■’s?

Did I make you redundant? Did you fail my credit score? Did I cast you aside so the rest of us could get on with the job?

Humouring your fantasy for a moment let me take a guess why a Captain if Industry now drives a lorry-

  1. Victorian style man management skills or…

  2. Indefinite gardening leave after some ■■■■■■ impropriety

I’m gonna go with the first. Now to guess who you think you were, 1,000s of high street stores is a good clue…

Ps, how would he know if he was one of your ‘■■■■■■■’ (delightful turn of phrase), you’re an anonymous username.

Looking up stufc like employees credit history seems very dubious and impropper. I wonder if Alan Sugar ever does a few shifts as an agency driver to keep it real.

Chas:

puntabrava:
Does that not break the data protection act and leave your company open to prosecution?

Nope. The data protection act didn’t exist back then. I did a lot of research into what I did & I’m proud of the fact that I was probably the first to do it. Ever.

I wish to add . . .

There’s folks around who’s financial situations are chaotic to say the least, I find that these folk talk loudest when the folk who can handle their finances speak out.

So pre 1984 then

It certainly does happen though. A few years ago a friend nearly lost his job at a bank because they checked his credit rating. In his defence there was an incorrect entry on it and the bank should have checked it before offering the job, not after he started. But they were about to get rid of him and it was such hard work to get his credit rating corrected. But then it is a bank. And he was in a rather good job there.

I owe about 7 grand on the wifes mini cooper. Apart from that, nothing. But my wages are stretched every week by the bills. Utilities are over a hundred a week, over a hundred a week on shopping, eat out at least twice a month, and a full sky package. But I don’t work as hard as I do to live like a dog, trying to impress anyone. I enjoy the fruits of my labour

Chas:
When I was a ‘Captain of Industry’ . . . (cue SwitchLogic & its puppets) . . . I had the brainwave to cross reference the Managers of our 1000’s of High St stores with their credit score on Experian.

The results clearly showed a distinct link between poorly performing stores & the Managers with poor credit scores !

I worked on it as a sideline for months before I felt confidant to present my findings to the BIG boss.

Over a period of 2-3yrs, those Managers with a poor credit score & a poorly performing store, were removed & replaced.

The moral of this story is : “if you can’t manage your own finances, then you can’t manage our store”.

For very little expenditure, I increased profits by 5+% almost overnight.

To this day, if you want to progress & climb the ladder in this company, your credit score WILL be scrutinised.

I’ve read some ■■■■■■■■ on here but this really has to be in the top one.

1000s of High St stores? - well when I was at Iceland back in the nineties they had something like bang on a 1000 branches and were just pipping Somerfield/Gateway to the top spot so have no idea what chain you think had thousands of High st branches plural.

Doing a credit-check would leave a mark on the file that one had been done, and cost money, there would have been a huge outcry.

Experian didn’t exist in that name before the very late nineties, it was called CCN in those days. So, if we’re going to even pretend this isn’t all made up ■■■■■■■■, if the agency the checks were coming from was indeed Experian data protection would have been very much an issue. I doubt a retail chain would have a relationship with a credit reference agency directly they’re not a licenced credit operation and if they had storecards it would be done by an outside financial services company even Tescos/Sainsburys banks were run by a proper banks really behind the scenes.

I can imagine certain job it may be in issue but i assume he had aggreed to having a credit check as part of the application process.

Oh no, Chas will put you on the ‘Switchlogic Sock Puppets’ list he keeps, in his 1982 diary from his captain days
