I think debt is part of modern business/ life, yes you will have the odd few who live like mice but the majority of us have debt of differing levels, it is very difficult to move a new business forward without debt, whether that is by nature of vehicle finance or overdraft to cover rent or office supplies or revenue lag, business can be held back by the wrong attitude towards debt and the desire to pay for everything outright at time of purchase, I have gotten up to 400k in debt and never really worried over it much but just view it as a part of business, when I was 20 I was paying £3500 a month on kit, that was 25 years ago.
Duncan Bannatyne said a company in debt is a company in business

I have the ■■■ end of an unwisely maxed credit card, and my overdraft. And my mortgage, which I’m not counting.
Those that live within their means suffer from a lack of imagination; Wilde quote I think.
I on the other hand work to this principle: when someone rings up asking for money I say , Well I’ll put you in the hat. They say what in an arsey way? Well I say, at the end of the month I gather all my debits and pick one out of the hat, if I can afford I pay. They say WTF are you talking about, we, our company needs paying!! I say, look; take that attitude with me you aint even going in the hat!!
Sleep well, their owed the money if it’s a *ock sucking bank or parasitic credit card company, offer them a pound a month if all else fails, keep singin and dancin
I like that. He had a good ear for a catchy quote, did Oscar.
I’m paying my remaining credit card off as quickly as I can, should get the rest of it gone without paying any more interest. The overdraft … I’ve just learned to live with that. It doesn’t cost me much so I’ll pay it off as and when. The plan over the next four or five years is to sell the house, pay off all our debts and buy a narrowboat for cash, then live on that.

I think there is a link between debt and bad driving. All bad drivers have debt and the good drivers have none, why is that
There isn’t a link between “bad debt” and “driving ability” any more than there is a connection between being “good looking” and “hot in bed”.
Get some hot bird, and she’ll expect you do to all the work, pay for everything, and then just lays there and takes it when you wanna lay some pipe.
Thanks. I’ll stick with the girl-next-door type who’s grateful, than some dolly bird that doesn’t even say ‘please’. (I like girls that say ‘please’)
You can also be the biggest helmet in the universe, without actually having a big helmet… I’m sure we all know some idiot who’s also an arse at the same time…

Blimey
Ok its a bit of a tongue in cheek generalisation but Winseer does have a point.
As we’ve strayed into types, avoid certain types of materialistic cold hearted disloyal western women, if you want a good life think further east young man where care warmth passion commitment and loyalty are still to be found, and if found in their man is repriprocated a thousand fold.
a personal message fetching to my attention my wrong doing would have been more than adequate
If your actions/postings had warranted a personal message/official warning you would have had one- sometimes just a gentle chiding suffices -you seem to have got the message so it worked :
When I was a ‘Captain of Industry’ . . . (cue SwitchLogic & its puppets) . . . I had the brainwave to cross reference the Managers of our 1000’s of High St stores with their credit score on Experian.
The results clearly showed a distinct link between poorly performing stores & the Managers with poor credit scores !
I worked on it as a sideline for months before I felt confidant to present my findings to the BIG boss.
Over a period of 2-3yrs, those Managers with a poor credit score & a poorly performing store, were removed & replaced.
The moral of this story is : “if you can’t manage your own finances, then you can’t manage our store”.
For very little expenditure, I increased profits by 5+% almost overnight.
To this day, if you want to progress & climb the ladder in this company, your credit score WILL be scrutinised.

Translation…
I used to have a job sweeping the floors at Primark, the store manager was an 18 year old with a keen eye for talent and obviously with my gifts I soon came to his attention.
Anyway, long story short, in less than 5 years I was in charge of sorting odd gloves and if possible actually making a pair out of them! As I was now in a senior management role I scoured the local second hand bookstores and read ALL the self help books and read voraciously autobiographies by such experts as Sir Richard Branson and that bloke wot bought Remington.
So you see kids, your dreams do not have to remain dreams, with hard work, a can do attitude and an eye for odd gloves you too can climb the corporate ladder.

Does that not break the data protection act and leave your company open to prosecution?

Nope. The data protection act didn’t exist back then. I did a lot of research into what I did & I’m proud of the fact that I was probably the first to do it. Ever.
I wish to add . . .
There’s folks around who’s financial situations are chaotic to say the least, I find that these folk talk loudest when the folk who can handle their finances speak out.

I would imagine you know very little of many peoples financial situation.
