Poll: Are you happy with your current job?

…but you can’t have everything.

I think a lot of the “yes” votes would actually be “no” votes if people really thought about it and answered honestly.

Well thats not me… Im very happy where i am, the only thing i’d like is to be able to do abit of euro work with them, its not that they cant get it, its becuase they’ve had hassle with it in the past. I do get my off days but thats more with the job and not the company, i also know what its like to work for ■■■■■■■■■■ being sworn at and having blazing agruments on a almost daily basis is something i really dont miss and its that experience that reminds me even on a really ■■■■ day how good i’ve got it.

George@ASDA driver:
used to moan about my job until I signed up here lol

decent money, start at 5am, normally sat at home by 2pm.

Now this is the sort of thing that would suit me. Mon to Fri, start 5 or 6am finish by 4 or 5pm. Maybe the occasional Saturday.

All I’m getting is phone calls at 2 or 3 pm to do a night shift. (which I usually decline since I’ve been up all day)

I’m sick to death of all this last minute stuff. Just book me for a week at a time with regular start times and not stupid long hours.

But you can, and that’s what I want to know; how many people are truly 100% happy with their jobs?

I think a lot of the “yes” votes would actually be “no” votes if people really thought about it and answered honestly.

I voted yes, because that’s the closest possible answer.
Contraflow, if you wanted a more accurate poll you should have created one. [ 10 options= 10% up to 100%, easy if you’d thought about it first.

I work with generally good people, we have a good laugh, and pay isn’t bad. However, i’d prefer to be out
2 nights,not 4 , but you can’t necessarily have everything.

Yes. Decent mob to work for. Treat you well enough if you are fair with them. Money is ok but as everyone will probably say, could be better. Monday to Friday only and no early starts and no late finishes. Decent trucks and no need to run bent in any way whatsoever.

not possible i get told what im doing the afternoon before, sometimes i call them at 5ish if not heard of them.

…start times from 0230 to midday…

We used to be a bit like that but we all have our own time slots now so why can’t you ask for something like a 3 hr start window and then you’ll know where you stand to a certain degree.

Depends what the weeks like really

On a good week the boss leaves me along to get on with it, can start at the time that suits me best and as long as it all gets done, no problems.

On a bad week, vehicle breakdowns ect, it can be a tough one.

Yes I’m happy at my work, anytime I’m not happy I come on trucknet and read about guys less fortunate and realise how good I have it. Work for large company 11 1/2 hour nightshift and make 40k plus. Life’s good…

yep,
12 days off a month and still earning more than i did maxing hours on last job, ok i dont do euro no more but theres only so many currywursts you can eat before the novelty wears off

Yep as I’m allowed to do 90 mph

It’s a simple question that only requires a simple answer; yes or no. You’re either happy with it or you’re not. If there’s something about your job that you’re not happy about then (even if you’re happy with the rest of it) you’re not happy. I didn’t ask if you are mostly happy with your job, I asked if you are happy with your job. In your case, you should have voted “no”.

But it’s not a perfect world is it.
I am happy with my job, but i would be even happier if I worked for only 8 hours a day for more money and an even better truck.

Well if that’s how you want it then probably every single person on here is NOT happy with their job, there is always something that can be improved.

I think what you should have asked is “are you content with your job?”

But there are people who have contributed to this thread who say they are happy with their jobs and haven’t then followed it up with “apart from this” or “apart from that”. They are happy with their jobs.

If you wanted a black and white answer why not just ask a black and white question in your opening post?
Or better yet, why write anything at all and just leave it to the poll??

I’m pretty happy. Not perfect could do with a little more time off and a bit more money but the job itself is ok.

FarnboroughBoy11:

I did ask a black and white question, it’s some of the replies that aren’t black and white.

Imagine if I asked my drug dealer “is this cocaine pure?” and he replied “yes, but it’s mixed with a load of other stuff.” The cocaine isn’t pure so the correct answer is “no”.

Some of the “yes” replies on this thread are similar to the drug dealer’s reply.

Perhaps people are just trying to convince themselves that they’re happy to be unhappy with their jobs?

Just because someone would like a bit more pay or a better truck etc, does not mean they are unhappy in their work

Yes I’m happy…double the money, half the hours and a new v8 every year would be nice, but overall,I’m happy

Yet you yearn for more, right? You see other drivers on double the money for half the hours in a new V8 every year and you want that to be you, right?

Is this cocaine pure?
