people always say ‘id drive a rubbish truck for good money over a nice truck for less etc etc etc’ well, ive driven some very nice motors, for nearly £200 a week less (some weeks) then what im on now,
am i happy now? no… very good money but rubbish job,
id still be at my previous job of 3.5years if they hadnt gone bust last year.

no not happy with job,only had it since middle of jan and already looking for something else.start times from 0230 to midday now i know what flexible means,working mostly eastern europeans.1 plus point i bike to work so no fuel being used

Yep, happy. Good pay, easy work. Hours could be more social life friendly, but alas i made the decison to drive hgvs for a living.
Can appreciate previous comments about beig searched when leaving premises. If you know your going to get searched every day then you will just make sure you do any robbing out on the road.

Fines for this,fines for that, money taken for breaks we don’t get. treated like we’re just a number, boss couldn’t give a monkeys as long as his money is rolling in. Unfortunately there aren’t too many other full time jobs or I’d be gone in a flash.most of the other lads would be too.

We used to be a bit like that but we all have our own time slots now so why can’t you ask for something like a 3 hr start window and then you’ll know where you stand to a certain degree.
I love it where I am. Family run own account firm with varied runs. I don’t have a regular truck so I get to drive their various Dafs and anything they hire in (so far Volvo FM and Merc Axor). Long hours some days but also early finishes and paid a day rate. Which I’m happy to say, means I take home what I used to gross on the tippers.
The handballing means no need for gym membership and I get tea coffee, cakes, pies and pasties gratefully received from happy customers. Much happier than I was this time last year as I think my posts suggest.
50% of the time im happy ish and 50% of the time i hate it.
read an article last week that said you should be happy 80% of your time at work.
allways on look out for somthing better but nothing seems better than where i am
I’m pretty happy with mine. Money good but could always do with more. Good fleet and mostly good work. Some office staff could be more pleasant but you can’t have everything.

I think a lot of the “yes” votes would actually be “no” votes if people really thought about it and answered honestly.

Yes,just had my shift changed from Saturday-Wednesday to tues-sat,it’s not mon-fri but at least I now get one day off at the w/ends,asked on the Monday and got it on the tues
