According to the Guardian 28 former pupils have come forward with allegations of bullying, anti semitic and racist slurs etc.
Was nothing said or done at the time ? Surely at least one of the “victims” would have said something to their parents or a staff member.
If you are paying those sort of fees for your child to attend a prestigious school and they told you what was going on you would have been down to the school and made one hell of a stink and the school would have done something there and then, if only to protect their reputation.
I have never said I was perfect in my younger days. I certainly wasn’t. I made mistakes and if challenged about them I like to think I would admit to them and apologise for them.
Proof? No one in those days had phone cameras etc did they?
If there are one or two allegations then there is reasonable doubt. To have 28 is it? different accusations is far from that. Are they all liars? Or is there one liar?
There was and remains some culture of fear in some places. If you grassed up a bully he will likely get some trivial punishment and come back at you. “Taking punishment like a man”, in many of those institutions was part of their culture.
Many stories are being reported only now about many schools, orphanages, etc that were not reported then. Are they all to be disbelieved now because they were not reported then? Of course not.
I doubt Dulwich was the one and only school in the UK at that time with no racism and bullying.
If Farage was one of many racist bullies then, it does not mean he was not a racist bully.
Why did he not admit it and apologise?

The chap in the O’Brien video is as he says " grateful for and to the BBC and the Guardian’s investigation and support". It’s dirt digging and in all probability true but they do not apply the same fervour to any member of this present government with skeletons in the cupboard even if they hear them rattling.

It isn’t realistic to expect great strides forward to have to be made in a year or so. Economies can easily and quickly ruined, but building them up takes time. By the end of a Parliament then progress had better be made, and be apparent, or there will be no second term for them.

Teachers !! I came through the state system in the late fifties / sixties and some of the teachers, if reported now, would be prosecuted for child cruelty !

I appreciate your candour. I’m not going to fall into the trap of swallowing the whole social media line, but there are various aspects of the current government that make me quite concerned tbh; the first being the seemingly inexorable push towards digital Id, secondly I’m concerned by what looks like a desperate need to police people’s social media content, the fact that there are now over 4000people employed to monitor social media comments speaks volumes to me. By far the most concerning to me is the proposed attempt to tear up The Magna Carta here in Britain, arguably the home of justice and fairness!
I understand that the whole courts system is overwhelmed, but why not simply employ more judges, build more prisons and build more courts? After all we seem to be able to find funds to rent The Chagos islands and send billions in aid to every warlord on the planet, so why not invest in Great Britain Plc?
If I was a head teacher writing his end of year report I’d say “ Keir means well but he’s easily distracted by pretending to be a force on the world stage when he aught to be fixing the problems within his own house!
Used to watch Question Time but gave up quite some time ago (David Dimbleby days) the bias back then was obvious and even worse now.

I too am not happy about more Magistrates courts and fewer Jury ones. I can see why they are thinking about it, as you say the system is in a mess, but I am not sure this is the way to go.
The system needs more cash for sure, but even throwing sheds loads of money, which we don’t have to throw around anyway, would not be a simple fix.
Another example of something that does need fixing but cannot be done in a couple of years.
ID Cards? I am fairly open to them. Many democratic countries have them with no real problems. Like all tools they can be used or abused, maybe, but if they help stop identity fraud then that is a plus.
