Crime is important. Although the screaming of much of the media, and many politicians might make you believe otherwise, and as many of us look at the past through rose tinted specs, most crime is down in this country from where it was a few decades ago.
I will guess that you will tell me you “see with your own eyes” more crime. Yep. There is tons more dramatic video of crimes happening live. YouTube puts up hours of events that we can see happening. It is dramatic and real and stays with us. Some “news channels” have it all on loops. That does not mean there is more of it happening. It does mean we are seeing more of it.

I am not happy with progress made. But then again I didn’t expect much in the first year of two of a different Government. If anyone thinks that an economy will be transformed in a year they are mistaken. So long as the country is headed in the right direction in, say, 2028, I think that is all we can reasonably expect.
I know that many politicians are saying “if only it was me in charge” etc etc, “all fixed by just this one simple move” etc etc, but that is ■■■■■■■■. (I await an army of straw men)

Was a fella on radio 4 last week saying. Years back they came in back trucks etc eventually UK authorises were based in France and it basically stopped as they had some power on french land.
Fast forward to today there’s no British authorities on the ground in France hence why it’s happening.

UK Customs/Border Force are in Calais just as French Douane/Police Frontiers (or whatever they are all called today) are in Dover. In the years I was doing UK/Europe driving the security went up a lot at all ports.
From almost open ports and only a few jumping on trucks, to more getting on trucks and so increased security all the time. Most ports on the Eu side now have miles of high razor wire fencing, cameras, sensors, heat, CO2, dogs, etc etc guarding them.
The guards I have seen do take their jobs seriously. Every time they do an extra check you get “Union Flag waving Brit Truckers” moaning about being delayed by half an hour!
Th migrants who get in small boats are desperate and determined. As you say there is no easy fix. If there was it would have been used already. That doesn’t mean we should give up and do nowt, but anyone promising a quick fix is a scammer.
