I never knew there were so many 1 bed flats to buy untill i saw all the plaquard waving morons
About 5 BBC producers have been asked to step aside from their duties in reference to the live broadcast of Bob Vylan at Glastonbury, the content was allowed to stay on the I player for 5 hours before it was removed, at one point I did hear they had to re-edit the broadcast to cut out the naughty words.
No heads rolling yet at the Beeb, they knew the artist was going to be high risk, Emily Eavis said they welcome everyone to the festival and don’t discriminate any performer for their political beliefs but she soon changed her tune after the event to state they didn’t condone and approve of what he said.
If Lucy Connelly opted for a not guilty plea, and subsequent trial,I do wonder if the jury would have agreed to a not guilty conviction.
No arrests yet for Kneecap and Vylan.
I would bet a week’s wages on that.
Imo THAT is the reason I think she was coerced to plead guilty after being assured she would get a lighter sentence…especially with Starmers’s strong links to the legal profession.and influence.
Think about it, from his pov it makes sense and is a good move.
I would put nothing past this shower of sh to create a deterrent for any resistance to their ways.
But we will never know and nothing will be proven to the effect.
The post office scandal revealed that the defendants/sub postmaster’s,were told to accept a charge of false accounting rather than theft/fraud charges of which would entail a longer prison sentence.
The false accounting charge was lower down on the severity for sentencing guidelines, and probably assumed their freedom was assured by the barrister to not receive a custodial sentence.
Kind of similar to Lucy’s case, plead guilty, you will be ok.
No need to pack the bang up bag , you will be coming home after the case but she didn’t get to go home.
the tenant will be Serco or whatever limited company has been set up, it will be a commercial property lease. they would then provide temporary accommodation on a room by room basis to asylum claimants who would not have any tenentcy rights
What a country this has become Chris.
Maybe the UK should have the equivalent on Anthrax Island, or Gruinard Island for some puffin, dolphin and whale watching to pass the time.
always has been
Just had a look on the Serco website and this comment from a “satisfied client” (property owner) is being used on the front page.
Over the 3 years that I have now worked with Serco I have increased my housing stock with the assistance of the Serco Procurement Team. Serco tenancy agreements are now recognised as secure lettings by numerous lenders and therefore access to funding for service user occupied buy-to-let properties has become an easier proposition for lenders."
So many Brits are snapping up properties in Hungary, Czech Republic and Poland for a decent house for £15,000 to £20,000 or rent a flat for £150 per month.
Their economy is booming and thriving, the cost of living much lower than the UK.
i know a lady from lithuania that rented out a property she had there. her utility bills for the year were around 35 quid. I asked her what the hell she was doing in this country and got some waffel about how she cant afford to live there. when i pressed her the basic wages for average jobs wernt that far off what they are here.
Coop, you could probably purchase a large amount of land and a dilapidated rural farmhouse in Bulgaria or Romania for about £12,000 to convert to a nice home in the sun, much cheaper away from the tourist areas or failing that the northern mountain area of Portugal called Trans Montana near towns such as Bragança, Guimaraes,Braga or Viseu.
Get a job with Patinter in Viseu.
you need to consider the visa situation though. I considered Portugal too, but to get a D1 visa that lets you live/retire there (you are not allowed to work) you have to prove a passive income greater than the local minimum wage of 900 euros per month. so you need a pension, or a house you are renting out, or about 200k investments that pay 5% dividends. if you have language skills you might get a work visa I guess. not sure if hgv drivers is on their skilled visa list though.
So you need to be fairly wealthy to buy these cheap properties otherwise you buy it but your only allowed to live in it for 90 days at a time
Eastern Europe I think has lower requirements, but these rural areas in BG, RO seem like the kind of place gypsies ride around on horse drawn carts aren’t they? cheap for a reason, would be hard to adjust to life there probably
we used to have the right to just go and live there a few years ago
Some very astute points there, Portuguese is quite a difficult language to master, most of the elderly generation in remote areas can’t speak English, the younger generation have fled from poorer rural areas to get jobs in bigger towns and cities, then the visa as you sagaciously suggested, it’s a problem now for the rock and roll concert transportation industry for drivers on long tours for months on end.
I’ll leave this here with no comment.
Nothing I could say could say more about mad assed ‘‘leftiness’’ than this b/s says for its’s self and about the Labour Party in it s present form.
Btw Toby…you need to stop being so 'kin '‘SAGACIOUS’ on things …the annoyance factor is starting to kick in again mate…
Rein it in a bit eh?
Just saying.
you been listening to franglais too much.
900 euros is chicken feed try emigrating to cyprus you need a bank balance of over 4 million plus money to live on. if you have that you can apply for a visa for a few extra weeks but you have to have a home here as well that you can return to at a moments notice so you cant rent it out.
all eu countries apart from britain were like this from about 2014 why do you think the locusts came here. they had decimated any other country that allowed what you suggest
That’s a perspicacious and sapient response.
But not egregious, pernicious or nefarious, thanks for the dictionary you got me for Christmas.
Well, yeah.
In the last few administrations, except the Sunak one which reversed the trend, the Home Office had fewer officials dealing with asylum claims, and predictably the rate at which asylum seekers were dealt with decreased. Hence more of them being sat around doing nowt, and needing accommodation.
Accommodation provided privately…at a profit…
I am sure many here can add “two and two” together.
Under the Brown/Blair gov there were more asylum seekers, but they were dealt with much more quickly. More were refused than under later govs, and so many less were housed. They either were refused, or they were able to work and support themselves by working and pay taxes.
The later Tories, especially Braverman and Patel talked a good talk, but their actions were absolutely against the good of the country. They saved a few quid in case workers and spent millions in the private sector. Private landlords and companies like Serco did very nicely thank-you!
Some differences too.
Connolly admitted that her Tweet was wrong, that is why she took it down.
In the PO case the accused were all adamant that they had done no wrong at all. That is apart from the ...choose words carefully.…dubious… evidence given by some in court.
