Police Crackdown

triple-tango:
Bollox ! Mickyblue its lazy policeing, always targeting an easy option & grabbing headlines. Most coppers are lazy, incompetant, dishonest social rejects.

Ok why is it lazy Policing?

As a self proclaimed steering wheel attendant, why does it seem its only me who has no issue with VOSA and the Police, surely driving a truck is not that difficult is it?

I suppose also that driving without a seatbelt is only putting yourself at risk, not other road users…

Suffolk: Lorry crime crackdown is a huge success

And there was me thinking that maybe this headline meant that the Police were doing something about the ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ who go around stealing our diesel… no revenue in that though to pay their bloated public sector pensions I suppose and it has to come from somewhere…

+1 ,as soon as saw that the trucker was the criminal I stopped reading the BS. I suppose a lot of drivers will think this is a good thing? No cop will risk stopping the real criminals that plague the haulage industry, starting with the Osborne & ending with Dale Farm.Trucking has been leeched on by parasites in uniform since the invention of the rubber wheel.

    Sorry had to laugh. You are like a broken record Harry. There are yearly Ops targeting car drivers and everyone else.

Example: 6 officers target trucks on a crackdown. Meanwhile there are a further 100 dealing with incidents with a few making a arrests for diesel theft. You and i won’t know about the arrests as we don’t work for the police, but think about it, there are more then just those small amount of officers working.

Another who hasn’t got a clue

What makes me laugh is people moan about the police and call them all sorts on the streets. If people go about there day to day business without breaking the law then you won’t have to come across them, how hard is that to grasp?

Do you think they should be targeting car drivers then?

It’s proving to be very hard work!

He’s a 14 year old boy who sits at home with no mates who picks his spots and ■■■■■ a lot - I can’t believe that some people rise to this nonsense

I just need to pop away for a few seconds, won’t be long.

You can take a man out of the Police, but you can’t take the Police out of a man.

there are two sides to it , i agree the police do seem to go for the easy option and revenue earners , but when they do make an effort and arrest a few of the petty burglars and thieves the magistrates give them a paltry sentence and turn them loose . i have a good friend who is a policeman and he can’t wait for retirement , he feels like he is banging his head on the wall for all the good he is allowed to do . get rid of the namby pamby chief constables and get some proper leaders in their place .

Why target anyone?

Will:
The operation started on Monday and ended today, with the Suffolk Police Roads Policing Unit teaming up with colleagues from Norfolk and Essex to patrol dual carriageway roads in the counties using an unmarked lorry.

Ok. So officers from Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex patrol the counties roads and catch 200 drivers, an average of 40 per day. 128 of them, or 64% for endangering themselves by not wearing seatbelts. I agree it’s against the Law but it’s not a danger to the public is it?

Will:
“This was a very successful operation with a number of drivers dealt with for a range of offences. However, the figures do reflect the fact that a disappointing amount of people have the wrong attitudes when they are behind the wheel of a heavy goods vehicle.

A disappointing amount? Over 5 days, how many lorry movements were there in those counties. I’d guess at several thousands and they catch 200? 200 too many, but a small percentage nonetheless. I guarantee if they did it with car drivers the percentage would be much higher.
Like some have already said, we spend much of our day saving the lives of drivers who have no idea how close they were to oblivion.
Never mind. As long as the media portray us as Neanderthals in charge of killing machines, the wider public will believe it.
It’ll never happen but a two week strike and no HGV movements would show everyone how absolutely vital the transport industry is to modern life.
RTC’s and traffic jams would still happen but we wouldn’t be there to take the blame.
Ah well, a man can dream!

SENIOR MEMBER;
90% of truckers hate cops! Something you should be aware of. At best they are workshy time wasters ( cops) that wouldn’t survive in the real world if their life depended on it. Give me back all the silly fines & wasted time the uniforms have taken from me & will maybe respect cops. Don’t come on a truckers forum expecting equality or sympathy - never gonna happen, Sunshine! :smiling_imp:
Compared to the average trucker cops are lazy effers.

mickyblue:
Police have nothing to do with safe parking etc. It’s down to the driver to know where it is safe, or not, and my advice is, If you know that the area your parked in is a fuel hot spot area then don’t park there at all. If you do park in that area then your to blame, no one else. (Apart from the herberts who steal the fuel)

Sorry Micky - I have to take exception to this bit. If an area is not safe due to diesel thieves, or curtain-slashers, then I would say it has everything to do with the police. If I decided to smash the windows in your house on a regular basis, would you expect the police to have any involvement, or would you decide to move house instead?

The police in this country do themselves no favours a lot of the time - publicising this crackdown as a great success by catching all this illegal behaviour is twisting the facts somewhat. As several people have pointed out, the vast majority of the cases are for no seat belt - how does this in any way endanger the prat in the Micra who sits in the middle lane at 50mph? I agree that there are some bad lorry drivers, just as there are bad motorcyclists, bad car drivers, bad coach drivers - even (believe it or not) bad police drivers. But to present themselves as the saviours of the road network, because they’ve fined a few people for not wearing a seat belt, is taking public relations to the ultimate. It will all play nicely with most car drivers, who would like to see all HGVs banned from the roads and all goods delivered by train, but hopefully anybody with a grain of common sense will see this for what it is - police taking the lazy option.

A tip. Don’t get caught then you won’t be fined. Explaines why your upset as you had done something for the police to clap eyes on you. Maybe in furture you don’t be silly and get caught?

Don’t come on a truckers forum expecting equality or sympathy

I am not expecting anything from this forum princess.

Compared to the average trucker cops are lazy effers

I would say that truck drivers are lazy ■■■■■■■. Truck drivers who expect to be paid £700 to £1000 a week to drive a lorry from A to B and still moan that the money isn’t enough

Mick, you don’t have to defend them, you’re not in the Police any more, they sacked you, remember?
