Police Crackdown

Just a selection of replies from our illustrious local rag about it

They say it’s a ‘huge success’, BUT this the the 3rd operation like this they’ve done and they’ve still caught hundreds of people. So in my eyes these operations are not actually working, there are still just as many people driving dangerously and therefore looking at the bigger picture the operations have been failure.

I can’t agree with Mr Angry. Look at the sort of offences they’ve been ticketing drivers for - the sort of things that make the roads far more dangerous for the rest of us. Frankly, saving lives which this will help do is one of the most important things the police can do.

Pathetic. should be concentrating on diesel and load thieves. never see any police at night when drivers cant sleep for fear of having a load stolen or diesel siphoned off.

Around ÂŁ12,000 in fines was handed out through fixed penalty notices.

Nice little earner for 5 days work, they must be short of cash this month :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

:unamused:

The fines go straight to the treasury.

Perhaps if so many “professional” drivers didn’t break the law, there wouldn’t be so many fines handed out.

And you lot moan about the police. Get your own house in order first?

We have our own house in order, It’s your lot that keep moving the goalposts.
We were once reprimanded in various ways for serious offences, Then as people started to adhere to the new regime, The authorities invented a whole load of new offences. Well maybe not new offences as such, But what was considered safe enough a few years ago is no longer considered safe now.
Some years ago, If i travelled down a motorway in light traffic and good weather conditions whilst talking on the phone, No one would have said “He’s a dangerous individual and should be taken off the road”. But i would be considered a danger to myself and others nowadays.
EU tachograph legislation wasn’t introduced due to road safety issues, But the police and vosa seem to think it was, as they say you are a danger if you don’t obey it to the letter of the law.

With this talk of “regime” and “authorities”, I think you need to lie down in a darkened room.

In case you forgot, the police don’t make the laws. They only enforce them.

Only page one and you’re already down to the ■■■■ prison guard defence.

Have you grown a lustrous moustache to go with your shiny uniform?
One thing I really resent is paying taxes to fund some folk’s being in the Village People fantasies.

I’ve nothing against the police, my mother works for them after all
But when they’re describing schemes like this as a “huge success” it’s annoying! Of the 200 offences 128 of them were for not wearing a seat belt?!? Come on who hasn’t done that  easy money… And as for fining people for eating and drinking, I don’t care how bright the sun shines out your arse, everyone does it, police included

It is a “huge success” though? They dealt with 200 driving offences?

do these still happen or have they been stopped too? i presume your one of the cmpg officers roadsrat

What do you mean by “do these still happen or have they been stopped too?”?

stammash or what it called? do they still happen or have they been chopped too?

If you mean the CMPG unmarked truck, then yes.

Well,if the police have such ‘limited resources thanks to government cuts’ ,they seem to be double manning newly bought tractor units all over the place.

How many tractors have they bought?

Where are they “all over the place”?
Well, more and more ‘watch out for’ posts here and seems to be a growth industry.

Sir +:
Here’s a thought though - park up in known curtain slashing/fuel theft hotspots and at least attempt to catch the uncatchables :imp:

Such areas are regularly patrolled.

Regularly and predictably maybe?

As a proffessonal driver I find it insulting that drivers (LGV) are so frequently targeted for the offences mentioned as if we were responsible for every accident on the road. Every time a Road accident is reported the first thing mentioned is the Hgv involved as if the main contibutor to the fiasco was it. There is rarely a mention of the good jobs we do in avoiding untold perils everyday and saving the lives of people who dont even know they,re in peril!! Why is there never a police car about when cars cut up lgvs to get on the motorway, change lane at the last minute to get off, hang on the side of the trailer in the middle lane not overtaking and not dropping back but flying forward as soon as you indicate, and of course if you happen to be going past them in the middle lane, speeding up out of thier cat nap. slowing down in front whilst on the phone and so on and so on and so on. I,m sick and tired of people trying to kill me everytime I go out on the road and am heartily sick of having to anticipate how they are going to try and do it next. We are all human and as such apt to make mistakes. The seriousness of the mistakes uncovered in the crackdown are no worse than most LGV drivers witness car drivers accomplishing everyday, without it seems any serious intervention ( i mean education here not prosecution) and as such the roads are going to get much worse and the idea that lorry drivers are to blame will gather momentum…

Divide and conquer…The Police are only part of the machinary to achieve this, though you tell this to a copper and they will often have no idea what you are on about…The brainwashing really is that effective!

Lets face it, we live in a society of narks, grasses and other undesirebles, but I shall never let them take away my care and helpfulness towards others…It shall persist.

If they want robots and everyone to do it all by the book, I don`t expect them to be surprised when all sympathy and empathy for others is removed completely and the psychopaths become the norm and not the unusual. I fear that the social conditioners have failed to take this into account. Those on the front line of social conditioning will be the first to be hit.

STAMMTISCH,yeah, come and speak to the nice friendly policemen, informally like, just a wee chit chat,no names no pack drill,no harm in talking is there,we won’t be writing anything down,no sir,we wouldn’t do anything underhand like that would we.Aye right,STAMMTISCH -a word from the same country that had the STASI !! :unamused:

Spot on, and they’d better keep on the correct page of the current hymnsheet.

Dawn raids by jackbooted uniformed thugs used to be reserved for the proletariat, even ex coppers no longer keeping the faith find themselves subject to similar, probably a little more civil mind.

Inspector Gadget closed down his whistleblowing blog too.

Enjoy your powers whilst you can mr traffic officer, who knows what the next regime change will bring.

Well said

Its a rare driver whos never used a mobile, eat somthing or had a drink, usually all at the same time ! The real crime here is not using your mirrors, if you cant spot a clean newish solo unit gaining & overtaking, you deserve to be done !

Very true, the easy money line. They steer clear of the ■■■■■ on the take as its too much hassle and chuck fpn’s at hard working truckers for not wearing a seat belt. Roll those eyes.

Mind you this initiative would have been ordered down from the higher ups on the bobbys on the beat so they’re just doing what they’re told, some sympathy must be given.

I have to big up the welsh police as I had one just beep me when I was on the phone and he let me off. I’ve never met an arsey Welsh man or Scottish man for that matter.

If you can’t eat a bag of crisps and still be aware of what’s going on around you then you shouldn’t be driving a truck full stop.

You might just be right.

I may have got off on the wrong foot, but I’m genuinely not here to cause trouble or to troll. Obviously my opinions are different to some of yours, and that’s to be expected. I know we probably won’t agree on much but that’s life. I’m just here for a civil discussion and friendly banter.

Suffolk police & driving standards!, most of the coppers in this county would fail there cycling proffiency tests!. I regulary witness the muppetts using they blues and two’s to get through the traffic in Lowestoft and turn them off 200 yards from the cop shop!. Bless them we can’t have them being late for a tea break!

Fair comment but then “perhaps” they will crackdown on the diesel and load thief’s, ahhhhhhh but that doesn’t earn as much and doesn’t sound as good when in the local press. :unamused:
Us lorry drivers are the scum of the earth and should be treated as such whilst all those thieving gits are just trying to feed their families.
“Perhaps” you have never woken up in the morning and found an empty tank or stuff missing off your trailer (and that’s when parked in a “safe” place as in msa or truckstop)
Get a life and get real.

[/quote]
I think i said this before to you and you got upset and got very rude about it. Police have nothing to do with safe parking etc. It’s down to the driver to know where it is safe, or not, and my advice is, If you know that the area your parked in is a fuel hot spot area then don’t park there at all. If you do park in that area then your to blame, no one else. (Apart from the herberts who steal the fuel)

I don’t know if Roadsrat will agree, but catching a diesel thief in my opinion red handed is like winning the lottery. Again it is down to the drivers to help and inform the police if they seen a sus vehicle hanging about parked up near trucks, but again truck drivers don’t phone the police as it will make them look soft. Now days the thief don’t have to be near the truck to steal the fuel, they can be 500 meters down the road so it won’t look like there up to anything.

Bollox ! Mickyblue its lazy policeing, always targeting an easy option & grabbing headlines. Most coppers are lazy, incompetant, dishonest social rejects.
