Police Crackdown

Mike-c… You’re making a fool of yourself.
Don’t argue about literacy skills when yours are sub standard.

RoadsRat:
As a consequence of that “operation”, 128 idiots were caught wearing no seatbelt. Were the police just supposed to ignore it? Turn a blind eye? They didn’t purposely set out to target non compliance of seatbelts.

Had those 128 drivers took 5 seconds to put their seatbelt on, there would be no headline. The only ones to blame are the truck drivers.

The law should be there to protect people from the malevolence of others, not to protect them from themselves. That is what “Nanny State” is all about.

Now go and catch some criminals.

RoadsRat:

dieselnomad:
As a proffessonal driver I find it insulting that drivers (LGV) are so frequently targeted for the offences mentioned as if we were responsible for every accident on the road. Every time a Road accident is reported the first thing mentioned is the Hgv involved as if the main contibutor to the fiasco was it. There is rarely a mention of the good jobs we do in avoiding untold perils everyday and saving the lives of people who dont even know they,re in peril!! Why is there never a police car about when cars cut up lgvs to get on the motorway, change lane at the last minute to get off, hang on the side of the trailer in the middle lane not overtaking and not dropping back but flying forward as soon as you indicate, and of course if you happen to be going past them in the middle lane, speeding up out of thier cat nap. slowing down in front whilst on the phone and so on and so on and so on. I,m sick and tired of people trying to kill me everytime I go out on the road and am heartily sick of having to anticipate how they are going to try and do it next. We are all human and as such apt to make mistakes. The seriousness of the mistakes uncovered in the crackdown are no worse than most LGV drivers witness car drivers accomplishing everyday, without it seems any serious intervention ( i mean education here not prosecution) and as such the roads are going to get much worse and the idea that lorry drivers are to blame will gather momentum…

You answered your own question

It’s because you’re supposed to be “professional” drivers. You should know better, especially when your livelihood depends on your driving licence.

This is my point!!! As a proffessional driver, not a ‘supposed’ one, I expect to be treated respectfully, fairly and competently should the need arise. In my opinion driving is a priviledge not a right and I,m fully aware of the need to protect my licence by behaving accordingly, for that reason I expect others to also be totally proffessional in their jobs and not see thier tasks as some sort of fox in the chicken pen operation with no regard for another persons working day

RoadsRat:

Goaty:
I agree, and struggle to see how, logically, wagon drivers without seatbelts would warrant such a high profile “operation”.

Read the article again. It said “The aim was to detect and record traffic offences, particularly those that can distract drivers.”

Don’t need to read the article. been done before. I said the same then. A high profile operation, instead of 2 traffic officers in a Volvo. Net result? Publicity. They’d look bloody daft without any “Nicks” that day don’t you think…

RoadsRat:

Goaty:
Like I said, at best it’s a publicity stunt. It goes much deeper than this though, imho, as yet another “Big Brother” psy-op, a cultural change for the worse. We’re in charge, do as we tell you, keep looking over your shoulder, etc.

It’s called enforcing the law. No one is above the law. Just police officers doing their jobs. You should be aiming your displeasure at your colleagues stupid enough to be caught.

Or should truck drivers be allowed to pick and choose which laws they obey?

I can’t make the point any clearer. If you choose to miss the point 'tis up to you. Thankfully there are still folk on here that are awake enough to understand this massive leap of the immagination… :unamused:

RoadsRat:

Goaty:
The tail is very much wagging the dog nowadays, with increasing numbers of sociopathic brain donors in uniform. It only needs a twisted ladder climber at the top and the “Yes men” underneath will willingly carry out ever more ridiculous acts of authoritarian behaviour.

“ridiculous acts of authoritarian behaviour.”? You mean enforcing the laws which truck drivers fail to obey?

The only ones at fault are those caught breaking the laws.

Sieg heil mein pimmel kopf. :stuck_out_tongue:

RoadsRat:

Goaty:
Remember, we pay their wages, they are our servants. It’s that bloody simple. Seems they neglect to point this out at Hendon nowadays. :imp:

Not every police officer attends Hendon. :unamused:

They also pay taxes and pay their own wages btw.

That’s taking your hobby a bit far imho.

Cheggy:
Mike-c… You’re making a fool of yourself.

I can do that easy all the time.

Cheggy:
Don’t argue about literacy skills when yours are sub standard.

See i can read. You can too? Where am i arguing about literary skills? We can both read the same post but you can see things in it i can’t ?
I’m giving a rationale as i see it of why people dislike the Police doing these type of “operations”.
As you can also guess i’m no fan of the Police. I can guess you are. But none of that is anything to do with arguing about literacy skills. A grasp of a situation is what many coppers are lacking, just like you thinking i’m arguing about literacy skills when i’m not.

RoadsRat:
…police officers are scum and gay. They are also thick and brainless…

Well said.

RoadsRat:
Well apparently police officers are scum and gay. They are also thick and brainless despite the literacy, numeracy and information handling entry exams.

This is just ridiculous now.
How can you possibly hold that up as a standard?

I have friends who are motorcycle Police…They show more articulation than you do as they stir their tea!
How can you expect anyone on here to take you seriously when you come out with that kind of stuff, let alone your previous comments and biting back, when you should know better and rise above it…And are trained to do so!

I still call you out as an imposter. The Police that I know and socialise with are a different breed to you, so I say FAKE.

Mike-C:
It depends upon how you measure thick and brainless. I suspect members of the public who come across officers who cannot deal with a situation other than to follow procedure, needs to check etc…i.e can’t just deal with stuff then yes they can think of them as thick and brainless, even though they’re academically inclined. A lot of academics do not have great people skills, there’s nothing wrong with that and many Police officers seem to fall into that category. Hence the joke on peoples dumbness “computer says no”. That typifies a copper.

That’s not was being implied.

Mike-C:
It actually appears so. Most of them have actually seen through the ruse of being caught breaking the law and recocnised it for what it really is, a excersise in revenue raising for Government under the guise of doing it for their saftey. Uneducated people i.e people who are taught what to think, insead of how to think would probably just stick to the line that the Police are catching lawbreakers.

It’s nothing to do with revenue generation. It actually is for their own safety, but some are just too stubborn and/or stupid to realise.

No police officer wants to scrape a motorist off the road after they’ve gone through the windscreen.

For the umpteenth time, the government makes and sets the laws. If it bothers you that much, contact your MP. But you won’t though, will you? You’d rather just spout crap on the Internet.

Criminals like non seatbelt wearing truck drivers?

But the laws the law? Don’t break it and you’ll be left alone.

Break the law and you’ll be pulled up for it.

It’s all rather simple.

Publicity brought on by “professional” drivers who cannot even obey the simplest of laws.

Still undecided whether you’re a bona fide copper or a troll. Doesn’t really matter. I’m still not sure though why a real one would spend so much of his precious time baiting “professional drivers”, that weren’t nicked in this latest stunt.

You’re certainly obstinate enough to be one, imho. Thankfully I don’t require your blessing to publish my thoughts on this ridiculous publicity stunt, so the the stock response of “conspiracy theory” only serves to give credence to them.

As far as public servants remuneration goes, I’d say it’s highly relevant given the spot fines dished out in such a “■■■■ Turpin” fashion nowadays.

RoadsRat:
You failed to grasp the sarcasm.

You failed to grasp the irony.

Didn’t Mickyblue pass the literacy, numeracy and information handling exams to become (albeit for a short while) a fully fledged police officer with a truncheon and everything?

They can’t be that difficult.

No offence, Micky.

Anyway if anyones interested, here’s who instigated the crackdown…

Tispol Organisation, who according to companies house are an Architectural & Engineering Activities & Consultancy company. They are run by ACPO, or sort of headed by them. Here’s their up and coming crackdown dates…
tispol.org/road-policing/rp … dates-2013

They’re an interesting organisation…

I personall feel the resources (i.e officers) used in this operation could have been better employed elsewhere:

  • How many wives were battered today?
  • how many kids were abused today by perverted scumbags?
  • How many people were threatened with violence today when somone was robbing their home or shop?
  • etc etc

Look, I know it’s not under your personal control but,

Stuff the mobiles and seatbelts, in the end it doesn’t really matter to the majority in society. How many people were killed today by a driver watching a film or on his phone? four, five people?? It’s awful for them and their families but compared to my list above of things which are happening day in day out to thousands, you have to agree the Police’s priorities are all wrong at present, especially when catching non-set belt wearers is considered a “result”.

It’s fiddling while Rome burns

Not at all here to bait “professional” drivers. Just trying to clear up the “misunderstandings” which some fail to grasp.

Conspiracy theory wasn’t as “stock response” unlike the “we pay your wages” stock response you gave.

Fines have nothing to do with police remuneration.
