If you get paid for break then book on other work for a few mins then record break until you need to work or drive
If you don’t get paid for break or POA?
Book it as other work but if not working then that could be deemed as not correctly recording what is being done
Jesus how dumb are you ZBers.Just stick it on break and go to bed,go fly a kite,go shoot yourself if you like who [zb] cares. You are on break, I know a lot of you “truckers” on here have to be home before it goes dark or the misses comes home and finds your not washing up but there again who would miss you really. The Poles can even do what you do,no Im talking more your distance men eg more than 200 klix a day.

If you have started a shift you are at work, that starts the clock. If you sat around for what ever reason unable to do anything, probably beyond your control, why should you not get paid? You could sit all day because of A N Others ■■■■ up/malice/incompetence and get no reward. Nope not for me. As for not booking correctly I will be booking to the legal requirements, (POA is a legal option not a mandate) it may not suit the company but then many things don’t suit the company and they seem to survive.

Heart attack now you takin the prooverbial.Only reason a truck driver gets a heart attack nowadays is cause of sittin on his fat ■■■ and eatin crap. And how the ZB do you tearass round at 56? Your like the rest full of [zb] man
Oh it’s ME that’s full of ■■■■ eh, ok right They also get heart attacks teararsing about trying to do (and sometimes achieving) the impossible at whatever cost to road safety , 56 or otherwise, carving the job up for all the other drivers, with a know it all attitude, thinking that the law doesn’t apply to them, regarding breaks (which are designed for their welfare) as a hold up to stopping them getting on, and would generally work 24/7 if they could, they are usually spotted ridiculing other drivers who try and do the job professionally, and safely… a bit like yourself really.

Some companies have it written in the contract that any breaks recorded will not be paid so drivers would be daft to record breaks in that circumstance unless there was a legal requirement to do so

Yes great plan take your self off the payroll?
I ask for the loading to be put right before I leave I don’t get paid while the guy who got it wrong puts it right and collects his bonus.
I defect the 3 marker lights not working left by the super trucker for whom English is not their first language and I don’t get paid while the fitter puts them right.

Exactly. Take the breaks to the legal requirements but so as to minimise the unpaid time in the day.

POA is ■■■■■■■■■.Are you some kind of bloody Moron all you are doing(if you do a proper job not a Tesco/Sainsburys/Asda) bloody steering wheel attendent is making it more likely you will get weekended, out of time,ZB up because of your own bloody stupidity.
Let the diks who deliver frozen chickens and drive 6 mile a day use their POA might be good for them, they do ZB all anyway, but dont load this crap onto folk who dont mind doing an honest days work.
And if you will sit for hours on end in a truck, office, canteen and because you got tacho on break you dont get paid then you really are a sadder bunch of priks than I ever imagined .
Thank god i served my time, keep on trukin suckers.
right this is the wording taken direct from the current vosa rule book!! the crunch is from what i see is, “the duration of which is known in advance” now that is so loose you could fall to the centre of the earth!! because of the examples like “while other workers load/unload your vehicle” now being at loads of rdc’s through the years, no one ever knows how long they are going to be. so the way i see it, if you are told that “its going to be a while for your unit” thats good enough to allow you to book POA
Generally speaking, a period of availability (POA) is waiting time, the duration of which is known about
in advance. Examples of what might count as a POA are accompanying a vehicle on a ferry crossing
or waiting while other workers load/unload your vehicle. For mobile workers driving in a team, a POA
would also include time spent sitting next to the driver while the vehicle is in motion (unless the mobile
worker is taking a break or performing other work i.e. navigation)

Making assumptions with little discernible logic. What does it matter the type of work I do (you can find out with barely minimal research using the search facility). Using the ranting on this thread as a hint can I ask; is the B in your user name short for burger?

Kerbdog:
However, if he waits 3 hours for a vehicle (on work) then he restricts himself to doing 3 hours work before a WTD break of 15 mins. Whereas if he is on POA from 12.05 then he can do till 9pm before having a 30 min break.
Confused - I thought that POA didn’t count as break or rest, and therefore a break would still be required before 6 hours of start of duty? I stand to be corrected…

nope wrong, a break is required at 6 hrs work less poa’s and or breaks, so you could do 6 hrs poa and then 6 hrs work before requiring a break under rtd regs.
