So basically the forum admits bus drivers are better drivers an can handle a more valuable load at higher speeds!
They must be some obese passengers mate!

It was introduced due to the oil embargoâŚand i believe it wont be changedâŚalthough i would like a round figure of 60mphâŚwhich is plentyâŚno amount of hounding government departments is going to move it to 70 mphâŚgod forbid.

Thatâs one way of putting it, but Iâd say that itâs simply the law that says trucks and buses have different maximum limited speeds.
As to why thatâs the case, who knows, but some bureaucrat somewhere decided it back in the 90s IIRC.
more chance of Theresa May dancing a striptease in parliament than this idea, and Iâm not sure which is the worst scenario
If the OP wishes to give out that kind of info, itâs up to him to do it. dd
Donât understand your reasoning for removing his name. He puts it on the end of his original post and then provides a link to a cause which has his name in full.
What a prize pillock the jobs zb and he wants to go faster. Must be an Audi driver
And here back in the land of nod

It was left higher for coaches to allow them to compete fairly with the railways at the time.

Bad planning causes late deliveries, another 4 mph wonât help youWell i came across an accident on wednesday 2 trailers 1 overtaking and back end clipped the other ,me reckons a bit more throttle and it may not of happened
Nowt to do with the speed limit as it is at all.
plus 14 mph over 8 hours could make a huge difference in a country so small
Most cars barely crawl past you on the motorway despite there being nothing in front of them. Theyâre going nowhere near an actual 70MPH.
also i reckons if Merkel , Tusk and Juncker want to remove our free trade Theresa May could shock them with a suggestion that British transport moving at 70mph will be speeding up the British economy .A driver could theoretically drive an exra 100 - 112 miles per working day â â 8 hours @ 56mph = 448 miles
Have you factored in the additional cost of fuel and vehicle maintenance? Youâll wallop through fuel. At the company Iâm at it could see the fuel used increase 8000 litres PER DAY and that is for a relatively small fleet compared to companies like Stobart. Youâre going to eat through brake pads, tyres arenât going to be happy etc.
Maybe you should try slowing down to 60MPH in your van and see what the difference in running costs are for the small increase in journey time.
No im sorry .trucks are far to dangerous at 70 .
60 is quick enough .
Well I must be missing out as I plod along at 52 have to say the thought of going 70 doesnât appeal one bit.
Leave the limit at 60 mph but more importantly also get rid of limiters to allow easier overtaking. As for 90 kmh max thatâs a Euro joke which doesnât apply anywhere else in the English speaking world. In which case âifâ we get Brexit thereâs no reason why we canât ditch it together with all the other Euro type approval bs.

No, keep the limiters. You really think people will stick to 60?

Its happened again and Iâm blaming you.
With our roads and drivers the way they are these days I think tesco had the right idea at 49 mph
Poster comes across as an idiot and mentioning brexit in both their posts just sums them up.
At lest Glory Hole keeps us entertained with his trolling.

The idea of getting rid of limiters is obviously to allow temporary over speeds to create faster overtakes so no elephant races. Therefore better traffic flow and less bunching so more safety not less.Just as was the case pre limiters. On that note the pre limiter motorways werenât strewn with the wreckage of high speed truck crashes then any more than they would be now.Or any more than any other part of the English speaking world that doesnât impose ridiculous limits or the use of limiters.
holy thread postingâŚ!!!.+1 âŚim actually giving carryfast a big plus 1 there and agreeing with himâŚive finally read 1 of his posts completely from start to finish without my mind wandering elsewhere at some point in the middle, plus its completely on topicâŚif anyone knows where he lives, could you call 999 and get an ambulance sent to him as he is obviously delerious todayâŚ
