Parking up in this heat

Compressed air accidentally blown into the mouth can rupture the lungs, stomach or intestines
Compressed air can enter the navel, even through a layer of clothing, and inflate and rupture the intestines
Compressed air can enter the bloodstream, and death is possible if it makes its way to blood vessels in the brain
Direct contact with compressed air can lead to serious medical conditions and even death
Even safety nozzles which regulate compressed air pressure below 30 psi should not be used to clean the human body
As little as 12 pounds of compressed air pressure can blow an eye out of its socket. If an air pocket reaches the heart, it causes symptoms similar to a heart attack. Upon reaching the brain, pockets of air may lead to a stroke

As a night driver I have to park up during the day. It’s currently 31deg, a tad warm.
Engine ticking over and blowers on “Lo”.
Once again I’ll be called into the office due to my idling exceeding 3 minutes. Exceeding it by about three hours today!
If I was a dog in a car someone would call the police Hahahaha

nowadays its aircon on constantly and if no roof pod, then in this weather its just engine running all night and leave it on.
back in the good old days of no power steering and no heater where men were men and women were grateful, then i did 4 saudi trips back to back followed by about ten years dodging around europe.
the best thing then was to keep a couple of seagulls that you would catch on the ferry on the way out in the cab and if you felt like a wee breeze then just give them a belt with a stick…

There’s the problem in your first line DD. “Aircon on all day”.
If you’re sat in a virtual igloo all day what will happen when the engine and aircon is turned off?
Using aircon to take the edge off of a summer day is fine, but trying to turn a nice day into a cold day ain’t clever.
Roof pod and aircon on mine not been used in anger so far this year. Barely got above 30 so not too warm so far. I have changed out of the longjohns into lighter weight clothing and my woolie jumper has been removed now.

the aswer is as i do in weather like this…dont turn it off, leave it on with the engine running 24/7 and keep cool and comfortable. nobody i work for is overly critical on fuel returns opposed to getting stuff delivered pronto.
its not so critical when your running a tad overspeed quite often.
obviously more of a problem with the companies that moan if your trucks idling more than 3 mins at a time, but for the hooligans its nary a problem

D.i.y aircon, leave bottle of water in your fridge all day, place cold bottle of water in front of a little fan, bottle will cool the air as it passes around it.

Day & night airco. Lucky me.

Mate of mine just bought this off flea bay, reckons it’s the mutz nutz. £20.

Having just swapped jobs I now have a pod again, but not a water one like previously, it’s proper air conditioning and it. Is. Totally. Amazing! Worked last night so parked up in London today and had a lovely restful sleep wrapped in my duvet like it was winter. Just thought you should know.

Well it’s a house for cool cats obviously! Apparently it’s a 12v plug portable air con unit. I’ve neither seen nor used it so cannot vouch for it’s effectiveness.

The place I work do reefers,I park up get in the back nice and cool, some times I take a gas stove in to warm it up a little

Just be careful who you park next to. Running all night next to someone who has their windows open may not be too wise!

Exactly so! Sitting with your engine running all night in a truck-stop is an absolute no-no! What some clowns fail to recognise is that every time they run their engines up for 30 minutes every so often during the night to power the air-con, the engine gets hot and that heat rises into the cab and the problem just goes round and round! It is their problem really, I’m not wasting a good nights sleep just because someone else too cheap to either invest in a pod or idle fuel. Nevermind sleeping with your windows open is not something one would recommend doing in todays Europe.

Never had a qualm with anyone over sleeping with the engine on anyway.

Doesn’t that miss the point? Even with closed windows, someone running his engine next to you is very noisy and eventually the fumes seep up into your cab. Whenever anyone did this to me on the assumption that it was ‘my problem’ I ALWAYS gave a good blast on the air-horns; and it ALWAYS worked! Robert
