Panic buying.

Foaming at the mouth? You best go see a doctor!

Agree with a lot of what your saying and yes, people do have themselves to blame to an extent. However, when you have banks giving mortgages to people on benefits to buy a council house (this happened to my lowlife workshy brother in law) then surely they have to take some of the blame?

Sure, they should take a greedy blame, but that’s capitalism for you. What’s more worrying is that your brother in law thought he could afford to buy a house whilst on benefits :open_mouth:

It’s like when a geezer in a pub says he can sell you 100 x £5 notes for £200. You know it’s a con, only difference is one con is legal and the other con is not legal.

You can’t go round saying barclays lent me money then be affronted because now you are in debt.

Wiped away most of the foam. Now, if I could just loosen the straps on this straightjacket

Tesco, hate their fuel as it is crap but beggars can’t be choosers.

Where do they get their fuel from? do they use different tanks to everyone else!

Was there a thing a few years back where there fuel was contaminated and if affected lots of cars.
You would think they would buy from one of the big players like shell or bp anyway unless they do different grades or something.

well got home today after being away for the week and no juice anywere i only have about 10 mile left in the tank and only want to stick 20 quid in :imp:
not that worried though as the wife works in the operating dep at the hospital so if there is a REAL shortage she get a pass to allow her to fill up as she is classed as emergency services due to her being on call for emergencies

Now have the Government been stupid or pulled off a canny move?

By encouraging panic buying the government have effectively doubled the amount of fuel UK plc can store by moving the fuel out of the garage forecourts into cars. The now empty garage tanks will be filled up by tanker drivers who are not on strike yet. When the garages are full the people who couldn’t get fuel will fill up their cars and people who did get fuel will top up their tanks and if the tanker drivers are not on strike those tanks will be once again filled up.

So the tanker drivers go on strike, but the demand for fuel will drop because and the cars will have full tanks and the garage tanks will still have reserves of fuel thereby ensuring the drivers will need to be on strike for a longer period before the shortage bites. As a bonus due to the amount of tax on fuel, UK plc has now received a massive short term cash injection just before the end of the financial year.

Stupid or not?

Coming home early this morning I tried my local(Camberley) Sainsburys and guess what, all pumps empty. There was a BP tanker there I assume delivering but nothing was going out to cars. The local BP close(Colnbrook) to work had pumps shut and queues for the others so no choice but to use my local Tesco, hate their fuel as it is crap but beggars can’t be choosers.

Why’s Tesco fuel crap mate ?

I use it all the time,am I missing something ?

I think it’s an urban myth that they use cheap ■■■ fuel. I believe they don’t.

Where do they get their fuel from? do they use different tanks to everyone else!

All supermarkets have their own drilling rigs to extract the crude oil from beneath the deepest oceans, they then transport it to shore via their pipelines where it is then refined in their refineries into the various grades of fuel that they are selling the most of on that particular day, they are obviously very good at doing this as they never have any leaks, spills, rig blowouts
unlike the incompetent fuel companies, some people think they purchase their fuel from the fuel companies and it is the same fuel, although guiness man knows different

Maybe it doesn’t taste the same!
What a pathetic British public we have thesedays, the mind boggles at what might happen if we ever have a Blitz type situation in this country again, it will be like something out of Hollywood. I see we’ve already had a woman badly burned decanting petrol in her kitchen, what the hell is wrong with people, the best thing the Government could have done to fill up their piggy banks was to let that MP tell everyone not to panic. They should have their cars taken off them. Anyway must go have to fill up, where’s me shotgun!

I filled the car and bike on Wednesday morning, I did intend to fill the bath with petrol, but it’s already full of pasties and stamps.

Day off work today but got up at 4am to drive the 2 minute drive to Boreham Interchange services, no-one in there, 3 pumps open, the bloke behind the counter said he expects to be dry come the morning :unamused:

Nice to see you didnt panic then, just got up at 4am on your day off

No panic, I needed fuel for the week so I went in at a sensible time when I knew that morons wouldnt be there

Shambles’ accusation

In York, Diane Hill, a woman in her 40s, suffered 40% burns on Thursday when petrol ignited as she was decanting it in her kitchen. She was transferring petrol between containers in her kitchen because her daughter had run out of fuel.

The cooker was on and the petrol fumes ignited. She has been treated for her injuries at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield.

Mr Cameron said it was “absolutely a desperate incident and a terrible thing that has happened to this woman. My heart goes out to her and her family”.

The day before had seen controversy over Cabinet Minister Francis Maude’s suggestion that people could store petrol in jerrycans at home - advice later withdrawn as a mistake.

Labour leader Ed Miliband has called on the prime minister to apologise for “presiding over a shambles on petrol” and accused the government of diverting attention from criticism of the Budget.

The Conservatives hit back at Labour for failing to condemn the stance of Unite - the party’s biggest donor.

This thing called natural selection does have its benefits :unamused:

ahh i see. so all the morons were sleeping blissfully whilst you not panicking get up at 4am on your day off to buy fuel when there is no shortage anyway except trying to keep up with the people who are panic buying from their beds

Agree with you Biggy.

Nope, I’m just not stupid enough to sit in a queue. The half a tank I have will do me nicely for now

Not that it makes much difference because I’d have woken at 5am anyway like I do on all of my days off

I panic bought £15 earlier, took me upto quarter full, should last me 3 weeks or so :sunglasses:

Why has the government picked a fight with Unite?
Think about the timing of this,and diverting attention away from;
Tax cuts for Millionaires What about the raising of the tax-free rate for lower earners? Was about £5,000 a few years ago, now over £9,000 and heading for £10,000 next year. More dough in the pocket of more normal people. My neighbour, a staunch Labour voter her entire life now pays NO income tax and is made up.
A Granny Tax There putting up the State Pension by enough to cover the vast majority of any hits on most pensions. If you hate the larger earners so much you will support the so-called ‘Granny Tax’ as it hits the higher-earning pensioners harder. Are you really concerned about people with £25,000 p/a pensions?
A Pie Tax If you run a chippie and serve a hot pie you have to charge VAT. The bloke next door runs a bakery and serves a hot pie and he doesn’t have to charge VAT on it. This unfairness has been addressed. No problem surely?
A tax rise for middle earners How?
AND THE BIGGIE?The Cash for Access affair.Definitely a lot more to be discovered there. Is anyone really shocked that people with money choose to rub shoulders with powerful people? Its neither a new invention or a party political issue…Bernie Ecclestone donating £1m to the Labout party for example? Whats the difference between UNITE paying 42% of Labours total donations?

went to morrisons today for the shopping as you do they they where all panic buying i saw a guy with his hands full of gingsters( or anyother reputable pastie that one can buy at a garage )
