But it mostly depends on the driver !!!

And the weight!!

And how far you run them empty!!!

Not very far …

Top one is from a 500 Volvo Euro 6 and bottom one is from a 620 Scania… Not many km on the Scania one but I have got pictures with over 11000 km and on 9.6mpg

*top one is Scania and Bottom one is volvo

What im trying to say is do you run the trucks loaded all the time at 44t?
Do they run part loaded?
When empty do you run 5 mins or 5 hours for a backload?
This can be a factor to fuel figures.

WhiteWhiteWhite:
To the silly people that say the driver fell asleep… Are you for real ?

WWW

Dean Walsh is for real though hey!!

Ive found in my 750 it makes no difference. I can be pulling a load of car parts at 22tonne or a load of beef at 40 and theres barely half a mpg between them. Mine gets between 8 and 9mpg. Even empty i cant get it much above 10mpg so they make sense if you do plenty of heavy work.

Reading your blogs it also seems to be that you can keep your average speed higher. If you are not losing speed on climbs you will be able to cover a higher mileage = getting more done in the permitted driving hours.

The average speed it keeps up is indeed nuts. On long runs, say a traffic free run back from Spain, it’s easy enough to set an average speed of over 85kmh no matter what the weight. Before I got this I was of the opinion they were just big boys toys that made no real sense economically. But it turns out they have their place on long distance max right work being able to compete on fuel and completely trash less powerful trucks journey times.

To the silly people that say the driver fell asleep… Are you for real ? I watch for 90minutes while the fire brigade tried to cut the trapped elderly woman from the car… Both drivers were taken to hospital. This happened 3 km from my yard. The driver had just run a trailer to another driver in Cirencester and was Bob tailing back… This site is so full of know it all’s who know jack.

Merry Christmas

I drive down Tetbury way quite often, the number of coffin dodgers round there who should have hung up their driving gloves a long time ago is staggering.

So go on then show us your Volvos.
