The more I read WWW’s post’s , the more I think the employers that snoop on this forum should sit up and take notice . The bloke seems to take a real hands on approach and I would imagine he LISTENS to his drivers . The company has regular , decent contracts and it seems that by investing in above average kit , they are able to choose from an above average pool of drivers that want to work for them
I don’t care if you see this as "sucking up " or not , but I’d rather work for a firm with the ethos of White’s than a large percentage of firms out there that’s a fact .
Oh , and to be clear , it wouldn’t be because I wanted to drive a big engined Scanny and pretend I was Billy Big Wheels either , it would be because I’d want to drive a clean , well specced truck for what I consider a decent wage …and be treated like an adult

Ok I’m no ■■■ licker I go to work I enjoy my work I get satisfaction knowing its done properly the customer is happy we work as a team at whites that’s the difference between us and other company’s we don’t moan about who’s doing what we get on with it it makes a happy work environment we don’t all like each but we get on because it works if someone came here and tried to mix it up between drivers they wouldn’t last long like I said before TEAM there’s no I in that oh before I go I drive a 105xf not a v8

Ha ha … he has not got a 16 in his number plate …but chunky is right we all have are fair share of the not so good runs but then we just get on and do it …I for one just get told where im going and go like take my last two wks I have done 2 back to back italian trls dueto fact that my hrs were low enough to tip 2 drops the first week then reload then up to macon for a change over have a 24 hr break then back down with 8 drops around the north …getting parked up due to the heavy snow around milan to venice and now sat in rungis waiting for a trailer in the morning …this all happens due to the planning of pete 1st class if you ask me …and NO im not an arse licker but I do drive the latest truck in our fleet the black 500 and yes I do like to polish my truck hence the reason I was asked by ray if I would like that truck peter may have had some doing in it though but this job is not easy at times but like chunky says most of us have a smile on our face and are happy in are work .

Thanks for this comment. Appreciated.
We feel to get the best out of the drivers all you need to do is make the feel appreciated. Speak to them properly. Listen to what they have to say. (sometimes they may have a better Idea than me, Not often, but sometimes, )
I love my job, I love working in a Family Business, I love seeing my trucks on the road, I love it when people take pictures or compliment me on the Trucks & Drivers. My dad has been in the Business all his life & I grew up with trucks.
I am not a miserable transport manager that hates coming to work. Ray/Dad has taken a back seat but is still the boss. Day to Day running is on my shoulders, and I really enjoy it, although it is not an easy job. Something different every day. I would say that throughout the whole company there is a relaxed happy working atmosphere.

Well said. I glad someone thinks something of there drivers and prepared to look after them.
yet again those that don’t know us slag us…read my post from two years ago…nothing changes…as for me been on for whites nearly 5 years and the job and the MONEY suit me…yes i drive big v8’s and take pride in what i do…been in european haulage for over 20 years and know i do the job to my best every day. …strikes me that those who knock us on here walk around playing with their gearstick in their trousers and dreaming of the day they can do the job we do…finally some one will have to make a very very good offer to leave whites nuff said …cheers all
i,d be buzzing if i had the chance to drive for whites and there trucks are mint…if your happy with your job thats all that matters, life is far to short to ■■■■■ !!!
good on the whites for having nice trucks, i,m sure most men would like nice cars if they could, lifes for living and i,m living my life to the max thats why i have 2 yes 2 porsches, or and a superbike and a big flash motorhome…all i need now is some 1 to give me a job driving a nice flash truck then my lifes complete
I think the real story here is that a British Haulier is punching their weight in International Transport. I do not know Whites but after reading the posts on here I can see the firm is committed to doing the job properly.
It must be at least twice a week when I see some blinged up V8 zoom past my own (fairly fast) wagon. Driver slumped back in his seat, n/s step broken, damaged mud wings and big scrapes down the sides of the random and often filthy trailer… these are the kind of guys who are all flash and no cash.
If Whites can do International work that earns them enough to buy such smart trucks and employ well paid and happy staff, the people on TNUK who criticise them should stick their own necks out and show off their trucks and businesses and maybe give us the benefit of their experience. If they cant, perhaps they might like to think about what they are going to do about it rather than knock someone else.
with ref to your ‘stralis’ post, those going south madrid on N4 or A4 km40 or km50, spot the ‘collosal’ amount of used (i guess) stralis in the Iveco garage, ive never seen that amount of lorries ! >>>>>>>>wonder why??
I loved my stralis for 3 months until it broke down and the dealer only had “Andy the Stralis Man” who could fix anything as opposed to greasing things.
Que a 5 day visit to the garage and a whopping bill for tracing broken wires.
