Id rather spend the same money on 2 stralis rather than over priced scania crap
Your residual value is less though.
The right truck can be a good investment ,long term.look at some 143 scania’s
Especially a 500 with a faulty limiter .
I bought my 05 Stralis 6x2 in early 2009. I always buy off end of lease disposal so you know they’re not a single vehicle that’s being changed because it’s got problems.
They were originally looking for £12k each for them but because they weren’t shifting and they were running out of yard space they came back 3 weeks later saying £10k, since then I knew a customer of ours was in the market for replacing 2 units so I offered them £25k for 3, and I could take my pick from what was there, they initially declined but came back again to say ok.
I went down with a low loader and picked 3 tidy ones with all less than 400k on them. I spruced them up a bit and sold the two on for £10k each, really the bloke got an absolute bargain but I kind of knew when I started his max budget was £10k a piece so the net cost of mine ended up being £5k.
We still look after his two and they’re going strong with nothing much wrong but in all honesty it’s an almost hobby race team that do tiny mileages. Mine has just gone over 800k and as far as I can recall the most major thing it’s had is a compressor, air drier and brake chambers.
I like lorries, I like driving them, I like reading truck magazines but I could not possibly conceive of spending over £100k on a Scania for me it’s a price too high to please a minority of cab happy drivers.
I don’t have a problem with firms that do it’s their choice to spend the money there but they have to similarly accept others can also freely choose to spend the money elsewhere.
My last experience of the Iveco badge was the Turbostar - I don’t care how good they are now I’m scared for life and won’t be back in one if I can help it .

Why not?
Very nice fleet Pete crack on.
I also run Scania’s and 4 Volvo’s i have run most makes for the last 15 years daf, iveco, renault, mercs and for the last 7 years Scania, And for cost over 3 to 4 years the Scania wins on repairs and running costs that’s before you get the extra resale value, So at the end i have found them the cheapist to run over that time by 4 to 5 thousand. The volvo is my second choice 1 to 2 thousand over the others for the same time in service.
Plus like many others i do this job because i enjoy it and you don’t buy a pony to run the grand national
Keep buying the V8 it keeps the tax bill down and gives the others somthing to ■■■■■ about.
Good luck and happy days

keep buying the big \8/s mate, less wear and tear, less stress on the motor, awesome reliability, great mpg, very very good re-sale value, drivers never a problem,
sounds like common sense to me mate
