And your point is?
Is hazard a guess that the point is, big power trucks is not all there is to Whites and driving them isn’t all there is about working for them. Sounds from a couple of people posting now that behind the photos of V8’s and what every ‘expert’ on the company thinks, their choices of unit and opinions of them, Whites are a tightly run outfit with staff a lot higher on the list than most companies. Planning a lot better than most. Route planning done by people who have done the job, customers/clients who keep Whites on due to their performance, a high degree of satisfaction from drivers over pay, conditions and so on…
Why reply to a post simply asking (even though you probably don’t care) in such a flippant manner? The bloke’s come on here, given a little insight into what working for Whites, why not thank him for it? Or at least show a bit of interest.
You get one company who rightly or wrongly get slated, like Richard Long for doing it all wrong. Then you get s company who seem to be doing everything right… And they still get slated for it!!
most of the time it seems you’re damned if you do, and damned if you don’t on here!

As I’ve said before - I don’t work for whites and never have but I do meet their drivers quite regularly and know a couple of them quite well. And they do not moan about the company atall. They moan about some customers and some delivery points. But the company ? Nope never heard a squeak.
The Job wouldn’t be for everyone I’m sure. But Christ why can’t the knockers on here just accept that this is a pretty tight firm with good kit & drivers.
I suspect jealousy.

exactly. the amount of negativity is staggering. I think it’s good to hear of a success story - but I suppose that doesn’t sit well with many of the doom and gloom merchants on here
Im not knocking them for one minute, but there are other companies out there that are good to work for, whites arent the be all and end all.

My thoughts exactly! That is even if he works for them, seems funny how hes just signed up.

Is it only the blue eyed boys that get the 730’s then? The ones that stay behind when they get back to have a little chat, find out the gossip etc?

The one’s that get the 730’s etc etc, are the ones who love to polish the most… On here it doesn’t matter if you have been here 10 minutes or 10 years, if you are mint with a truck, the next new one has your name on it !!
And every transport manager loves an ■■■ licker !!! - lol

If that really is the case fair play to you, theres nothing more frustrating when the guy that shouts the loudest always gets the best runs and the best equipment.
How do you go about choosing a driver to employ from your list when the time comes? Because of course the guy with the most experience isnt always the best.

That is how we operate…
The 1st 2 things I look for is common sense & attitude. I wont work with people that have attitude problems. And sometimes the drivers on here need to think for themselves and make their own decisions.
I would prefer a young clean lad with little euro experience that is keen as mustard over a guy that has 20 years under his belt but is miserable (and there is a lot of the latter on here)
Also, when they come for an inteview I look at their car… If it is a dirty, rusty beat up old nail with coke cans & rubbish all over the floor than I can’t see them looking after my truck as I require.
Cheers.
WWW
Good on you www. As usual people on here will knock you and say their 20 year old erf is a better truck, because they’re jealous that there isn’t an operator like you near them. I like to look after my motor and its really annoying to see someone in a beat up v8 griffin while Im managing to keep a fleet spec R440 mint. If I were single, my name would be on your list mate, but I like box work as Im home on a Friday for the kids

It sounds like I would be an ideal fit for you!
It’s just a shame that:
a) I don’t have my licence yet and b) live hundreds of miles away from you
oh, and: c) you have a list of drivers as long as your arm don’t have any jobs going anyway!
The more I read WWW’s post’s , the more I think the employers that snoop on this forum should sit up and take notice . The bloke seems to take a real hands on approach and I would imagine he LISTENS to his drivers . The company has regular , decent contracts and it seems that by investing in above average kit , they are able to choose from an above average pool of drivers that want to work for them
I don’t care if you see this as "sucking up " or not , but I’d rather work for a firm with the ethos of White’s than a large percentage of firms out there that’s a fact .
Oh , and to be clear , it wouldn’t be because I wanted to drive a big engined Scanny and pretend I was Billy Big Wheels either , it would be because I’d want to drive a clean , well specced truck for what I consider a decent wage …and be treated like an adult
