It’s human nature to treat people as they treat you. I might eventually report a diesel thief to a gaffer who habitually bullied his staff or otherwise treated them like crap, but it’d take me a lot longer than if I worked for someone who didn’t do these things. If I found a new job before I got around to reporting it, I probably wouldn’t bother. It’s actually got very little to do with the wages, for me: I’m not paid especially well at the moment, but I like the people I work with up to and including the yard manager, and they treat me pretty well, so I’d rat on a driver nicking diesel no problem at all.

ps as for insulating ■■■■■■■■■■■, can I remind you you started us on that road if you remember. Glass house anyone?
Your wrong again lad, was you that brought it up not me.

Because stealing is illegal. Blimey, some folk don’t know the laws of the land!!
possession is nine tenths of the law my friend
:
Would hanging the job out when hourly paid be stealing…
Not that I’m adverse to a bit of constructive time management but would this be classed as biting the hand that feeds you or just nibbling it a bit.
Oh and how the chuff did we get into shagging animals…

Oh god now we’re in the ‘what if they killed your whole family’ territory. WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN.You implied I’d be in court earlier for not saying anything, maybe its your good self that isn’t quite au fait with the ‘laws of the land’.
Nope, I didn’t imply it.
Read the ‘you wouldn’t personally’ bit again.
There is no compulsion under English Law to report a wrongdoer and no charges can result if you are not personally involved, so far as I’m aware.
You implied in your post that if a boss is decent you would report the thief.
If the boss isn’t you wouldn’t report the thief.
Can I ask if you’d have reported the guy for stealing from another driver - or would that depend on whether he was a mate of yours or not, or if the guy that was the victim was an arse or not?

So when you were worried ‘the cows would catch something from me’ you meant when I innocently pat them did you, lad? Short memory. Lad.

You did when you first mentioned it, saying I’d like to see you use that excuse in court. Implying I’d be in court.
Its all fairly academic, Ive not seen anything like this go on before, but then I’m not a curtain twitcher constantly looking to catch others out. But to answer your question would I report a friend if I saw him stealing, no, would you? I would have a serious talk with him to make him see the error of his ways and try and make him make right what he has done, then depending on his response I may or may not report him. See, it isn’t all black and white. I dare say you’d report your best friend to the police for any trifling crime BECAUSE ITS BREAKING THE LAW, but I approach each situation differently , as many would I assume.
guy i knew used to brag to me that he had never bought his own fuel for his car and his missus car since he got his truck job few yrs previous . he tried to give me some ,and tools too , he works for the electric board , likely wanted to give me ,to make sure id never tell on him
i wouldnt grass on him as he is a very cunning type who would be sure to get revenge on me if i did
i used to think id see him in the paper sometime, caught stealing ,but so far not yet !
Oh looky another thread descended into a battle of the big word boys and girls. Handbags at dawn.

It used to be quite entertaining seeing one post that’s a bit near the bone turn slowly into threats and personal insults.
Now it’s just boring

Agreed. Its not like anyones gonna miss a few litres out of a great big tank holding about 450 litres !
That wasn’t quite what I meant but I’ll take your point

I think you have taken my post the wrong way. Blah blah. How dare you quote me. Blah blah. I hate ex Tipper drivers. Blah blah. Etc.
^^^■■■■■■■ Oi I resemble some of that
Oops so do I!
So to sum up this thread, as a profession some of us are a little on the light fingered side round our own fuel tanks, some would turn a blind eye if witnessed an act of sheer naughtiness others would dob them in and a few of us are untrustworthy round species of a bovine persuasion.

No Chico, you need to go one post further back and read some more of your efforts.

Right, so your first thought when someone mentions cow insemination is ■■■■■■■■■■■? Because it wasn’t meant that way, you list an interest as breeding cattle, I made a joke. The fact you took insemination to mean ■■■■■■■■■■■ is your problem, and a worrying one from a cattle breeder

As I said, you brought it up. Im beginning to see how a life by yourself living in a truck is suitable for you. There you are, there is a joke from me if you like jokes
