Here we go then for the simpletons, if as an employer you look after me, with decent pay and decent attitude I will do everything I can to assist you. Treat me like crap and pay me poorly and I will NEVER steal from you but nor will I police your company for you. I will come in, do my work, go home, nothing more, nothing less. Simple. NOWHERE in my original post did it say I condone theft, or that I would do it myself. What it did say, very clearly, was if an employer wants loyalty they need to give it back.Yes you did, the part where you said you knew but you’d say and do nothing. If a haulage company has 5 drivers, the cost of one driver stealing 2 jerry cans of diesel a week is enough to have paid for a 2% wage rise for all of the drivers.
Everyone is missing the easy answer, be a good employer and your employees will look after you, simple. Ive worked for some right [zb], some of which screwed me out of wages left right and centre. Nice to know plenty if you will spy on your fellow employees no matter how bad the employer treats you or rips you off. How very loyal of you. And then you’ll all be moaning on another thread about how badly drivers are treated.
I know what you mean… Trouble is, by default you’re saying it’s OK to steal if the person you’re stealing from is paying less than average wages and is a bit of a [zb]!
Good luck with those excuses in a court of law!
Why would I be in court?
You wouldn’t, personally.
If you actually carry out the deed and use the excuse that your wages are poor and the boss is a [zb], a court wouldn’t accept that as justification.
I merely pointed out the flaw in your reasoning.
You shouldn’t steal because it’s wrong, not because your boss happens to be a ‘good chap’ and treats me well.
If your boss is a [zb], you go elsewhere, not steal from him!!
Wrong! When I worked at co-op distribution centre, there was a lad doing it over for the ■■■■, when everyone had gone home on a Saturday night.
He got away with it a few times stealing £1000’s worth a time, one Saturday he was in the warehouse stealing when a driver came back from a run (he was running late), he disturbed the lad who ran off with his accomplice. Long story short, in court the lad used the excuse he had 5 kids and money was tight in the run up to Christmas, he got 200hrs community service, the 10,000’s of ■■■■ he stole were never recovered.

ps as for insulating ■■■■■■■■■■■, can I remind you you started us on that road if you remember. Glass house anyone?
Your wrong again lad, was you that brought it up not me.
So when you were worried ‘the cows would catch something from me’ you meant when I innocently pat them did you, lad? Short memory. Lad.
No Chico, you need to go one post further back and read some more of your efforts.
Right, so your first thought when someone mentions cow insemination is ■■■■■■■■■■■? Because it wasn’t meant that way, you list an interest as breeding cattle, I made a joke. The fact you took insemination to mean ■■■■■■■■■■■ is your problem, and a worrying one from a cattle breeder
As I said, you brought it up. Im beginning to see how a life by yourself living in a truck is suitable for you. There you are, there is a joke from me if you like jokes
Blimey you really do read what you want dont you. I didn’t bring it up at all. Cattle insemination is injecting sperm from a bull into a cow isn’t it? I fail to see how that equals ■■■■■■■■■■■. Still in that greenhouse throwing stones I see.
Anyway, I must be diverting you from your many houses and vast wealth. Dont let me delay you

Oh god now we’re in the ‘what if they killed your whole family’ territory. WONT SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN.You implied I’d be in court earlier for not saying anything, maybe its your good self that isn’t quite au fait with the ‘laws of the land’.
Nope, I didn’t imply it.
Read the ‘you wouldn’t personally’ bit again.
There is no compulsion under English Law to report a wrongdoer and no charges can result if you are not personally involved, so far as I’m aware.
You implied in your post that if a boss is decent you would report the thief.
If the boss isn’t you wouldn’t report the thief. Can I ask if you’d have reported the guy for stealing from another driver - or would that depend on whether he was a mate of yours or not, or if the guy that was the victim was an arse or not?
You did when you first mentioned it, saying I’d like to see you use that excuse in court. Implying I’d be in court.
Its all fairly academic, Ive not seen anything like this go on before, but then I’m not a curtain twitcher constantly looking to catch others out. But to answer your question would I report a friend if I saw him stealing, no, would you? I would have a serious talk with him to make him see the error of his ways and try and make him make right what he has done, then depending on his response I may or may not report him. See, it isn’t all black and white. I dare say you’d report your best friend to the police for any trifling crime BECAUSE ITS BREAKING THE LAW, but I approach each situation differently , as many would I assume.
You took my meaning literally (as in yourself, rather than as a rhetorical device as intended), and it was meant a little tongue in cheek anyway…
Really guys you pair need to shake hooves and moooove on or at least turn the udder cheek…

Whichever way I phrase it he’ll just read whatever meaning he wants into it.
This place cracks me up.
On another thread a yard gets broken into, diesel gets nicked, everyone kicks off about it. "P***** scum etc etc.
Yet on this thread an actual employee keeps nicking diesel and some on this thread think its OK.
How the ■■■■ does that work then?

Ahem…
I must admit… It did occur to me too matey. But sadly, I was out-voted in my quest for justice on this thread and told it all depends…
Maybe someone saw something but decided to not get involved, who knows?
If the guy who owns the place in the ‘yard broken into thread’ is an arse, that pays poor wages to boot, it’s probably not a problem nicking from him! On the other hand…
The thread had a simple question that required a simple answer. Would we report someone if we knew they were stealing from their employer?
Yes…It’s that simple.
