on the rob

I can’t see what wrong with an anonymous letter.

Perhaps a punch in the face might work and is arguably what he deserves it only drags you down to his level

a firm might not act on an anonymous letter believing it just maybe a disgruntled individual trying too cause unrest

raymundo:
Suggest you re read my post before spitting your dummy out !!

I was not inferring that they should be allowed to get away with it but solely that I would not like it if they knew it was me who shopped them FFS :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

i have re-read your post, and i still stand by what i wrote

raymundo:
I wouldn’t like anyone to know that I had a part in grassing them up, not because of them knowing I was involved but that a bit of 4x2 around the back of the head when not expecting it can be a tad painful for the sake of a few litre of derv :frowning:

like i said, a few litres?

kiwitaff:
Its not small amounts either, he is taking 50ltrs a week.

50 litres per week, averaged over a 48 week year is £3288

would you like it if someone helped themselves to that amount of money from your personal bank account every year?

would you just turn a blind eye?

all because you fear a scenario that will probably never happen?

grow a pair FFS!!!

sod it …
Park up next to him in the yard get urself a 12 /24v pump refuel ur truck from his tank making your fuel figures looking outstanding  the boss will soon ■■■■ him off

Take yer blinkers off an you may see what I was saying !!!

BTW, ‘a scenario that may never happen’ well it did for me but not for a few litres of diesel a week but to the tune of €12000 PER MONTH, over more than just a few months as well !!! So I repeat … I would not like them to know it was me who shopped them, read into that what you like. End off !

PS, you have conveniently forgotten to deduct the VAT, it’s £2740 per year and that is tax deductable

Agreed on both counts…

Totally agree with you mate. You never know who knows who and the lengths they may go to get payback.

I just wonder why the employer hasn’t noticed that at least one of his vehicles is costing
him £3k pa more to run than the majority. What about when tea leaf is on holiday and a
more honest driver is assigned his runs? If the boss is on the ball, fuel theft is a short sighted and short lived crime.

^^^^
We dont know where the driver is pinching the diesel from.

it might be your wagon :frowning:

Hate thieves in all walks of life, I will grass them up and let them know it was me that did it, to their face, preferably.

Course I need absolute proof as i hate grassers almost as much as thieves.

At the last place I worked all diesel was from a pump in the yard. No fuel cards and a cash float for fuel given if you were out all week.

The owner of the business (himself a driver) never conducted any mpg calculations beyond the driver writing down the amount they fuelled the vehicle with each day. No mileage was recorded when fuel was taken.

If we wanted to steal diesel it would of been very easy.

However no one did or does to my knowledge. Why? Because we all knew the bloke very well and consider him a friend (he is invited to my wedding later this year).

We also knew/know that if we were caught there’d be no arrest or no court. There’d be a ■■■■■■■ good hiding, the sack and huge difficulty gaining work locally. As it should be.

At least once a month he would allow you to fuel your PV from his diesel pump. Not everyone did every time he offered.

When he came out with us on a job, his wife would provide lunch/dinner for us all (take it or leave it)

He runs the most profitable haulage business I have ever been involved with and is amongst the richest people I know.

How? By not taking on ■■■■ work and parking the lorries up if there’s no decent work about. This seldom happened. Because in his market decent work is there if you bloody look for it.

Treating drivers and staff as he himself wants to be treated. Fair and honest with a decent return for a decent amount of work.

Even the self employed blokes were offered other work within the business if the lorries were parked up.

As a result ■■■■■■■ like the OP’s thief would either be out in their ear with a good hiding or content enough that they wouldn’t need to pinch.

I stand by my first post. Shop the ■■■■ and think no more about it.

not to the person who is pinching it, or the honest guy who is paying his own fuel

so, shove that in your pipe and smoke it :stuck_out_tongue:

edit to add:

just because it is tax deductable, that makes it ok does it? ■■■■!!!

truckyboy:
Definitely not tell the boss, but may tell the driver to get me 2 cans as well  its none of my business what another driver steals, so long as its not stealing from me.

+2…

m1cks:
Would you call the police if someone was siphoning the companies diesel while you were on a night out?

Zb no, I’m no grass & the po-lice are tossers…!

Javiatrix:
Yes I would.

Anyone who would let somebody steal from the company that pays them is a [zb] idiot, end of story.

Not necessarily.

Lusk:
I agree with you Dave but I also agree that the thief ought to be dropped in it. Somebody mentioned on here about Xmas bonus etc…he’s right. It affects everything.

Agree with Dave too but I don’t think it affects me personally, no one gives a flying zb about me, anything saved by the company certainly doesn’t end up in my pocket in terms of a bonus etc so why should I give a zb about anyone stealing…? Let them crack on & good luck to them…

^^^^^^^^ its you isnt it ■■?^^^^^^^^^^

Maybe it is, why, you want to grass me up or something? Are you a #jobsworth?

a firm i worked for quite a few years back were so easy going it would have been pretty easy to nick diesel in small amounts.no one did steal any apart from one prick who hadnt been there long and was nicking ten gallons a ■■■■■■■ day and selling it to the scrapyard round the corner!!
he soon got caught .■■■■■■.
they used to give me a fiesta van and pay for the diesel and i had a fifty mile each way commute from north herts to heston, middlesex. why bite the hand that feeds you?
