Older truck drivers?

alamcculloch:
If there were a finite number of jobs then older folk would be stealing a job from a younger man.Its up to the younger guys to get up of their butts and find work ,if the old codgers can do it then so can you. I know a man who is giving up his licence this year as he will be 82 years young.Older folk often do a few hours or an odd day when the regular person is not available.

1, ive never been out of work.
2, if people save instead of spending they would not have to work after retirement age
3, i will be retireing in 6yrs time i will be 55yrs old,
4, that job will be open then for a younger fella with a younge family to support.
5, its called being a member of sociaty, provideing for your self and then makeing way for others to do the same.

i still save every week just £10/£20 a week soon adds up thats not goner braek the bank, as for the goverment putting up the retirement thats because people like rocky 7 thinks the goverment should pay for his bills because he hasent bothered his ars to save

I meet a South African guy last week who lives in Cullumpton who is 65 years old and taking his Category C test this week in Exeter and he wishes to start a new career as an LGV driver. When I asked him wasn’t he a bit old for LGV driving, he replyed well it can’t be that hard sat on your ■■■ all day .

Passed my Medical again ,so another year ( hopefully) on the road.
When I feel Im’e to old I will pack it in.

I went down from Hamburg to Hannover and then west for a few Miles.
From the A7 down was a MAN Tipper Truck&Trailer in Front of me.
When i overtook them,(i was empty and he full Gravel) there was no Driver in the Cab
After looking more closly i could see them laing with Hands in fuse-Box
Few minutes,i just pulled in Front of him and few Minutes later all Lanes standing Traffic. I stopped and when looked in Mirror that Lorry came with Speed close,i just turned the Steering Wheel full left, opened Handbrake and left Seat to middn,as in front of me was another Lorry.
Just,at the last Moment that MAN pulled right on the Hard Schulder, passed me right, and i didn’t see his Trailer anymore when i heard his Brakes.
Just don’t stay on road or hard schulder around,as the Surprice could lift you to Heaven at any Minute.
Now,…There are a few such Episodes why i don’t like that Long Distance anymore.
Highly dangerous and no Money anymore, and,if anything goes wrong gets the Driver charged

That was my brothers plan too, It didn’t quite go to plan as he died aged just 51, a very successful business man who employed around 30 people.

I know someone else who paid into a pension plan, what a miserable git he was, as he didn’t have any money to spend on himself or his family, let’s hope he makes his retirement eh?

Someone on another thread ,said I should be retired at my age. I totally agree…
If the bloody government looked after us pensioners we wouldn’t have to work.

hey rocky 7 its not up to the government to look after you after retirement, why have you not got your own pension, or put a few pound away each week towards your retirement, it make me so mad to think that your working at 67yrs old, takeing a job a younge familey man could be doing instead of haveing to drew the dole because you dident bother your ars saveing for your retirement…

Are you for real?? WTF are you on? As Wheelnut says!! Hope you reach 55 and collect on all your cash!
What a sad man? No-one to spend your hard-earned on!!! Are you sure your not Scottish Rory? :unamused:

when i first started driving there where no private pensions then they started private pensions. That was another government scam so they would not have to pay a decent OLD age pension…
Rory says he is going to retire at 55 … good luck to you son you’ll be knackered by the time your my age.

also rory, would you sooner the government money goes on some scumbag layabout or an immigrant ’
I have never asked for anything that i have not worked for, and I intend (subject to health ) to work until I am 70, or keep passing the med.but when I do retire I would like at least to be kept in the same manner as these scumbags or immigrants

Fat chance Rocky, fat zb ing chance.

I retired and took up driving a couple of days a week. I am under no pressure, so I enjoy doing the job. I note that you come from Eire, that may explain why you have so much.

I used to do house removals to Eire in the early 70’s and the perception that the Irish people were poor was quickly proved wrong.

Well!! Rory, after another days work where I have had to pay 40% tax because of my AGEI am now relaxing , ready for another days work tomorrow to pay another 40% tax, so that some immigrant can live in luxury
By all means enjoy your pension son but dont knock workers, who dont have one…
