How did you afford a 4 bed house a land rover and be able to save thousands extra on your wages as a driver
The house I owned can be seen on Zoopla the date I bought it - for £78,000. Land Rover was bought with money I saved and paid cash for. I used to max my hours out 71hrs 84hrs alternate weeks working every weekend and having Monday or Monday / Tuesday off my take home was between 700 - 800pw depending on whether it was 71 or 84hrs!!! Christmas week I used to work Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day all of them 15hrs a shift and all at treble time! The money is out there if you want it?

foxy stars:
i earn decent money - i put away around £250 p/w — i live by myself, i rent my flat, i live with my dog (my dog is way better company then any girl i ever met) my overheads are as low as they can be and my bank balance doesn’t get hammered everytime i get paid.
i’ve seen it elsewhere too the lads i work with some married some not and it’s the ones that aren’t married with sprogs that have the nice things like nice car, nice house, plenty cash in the bank etc… that don’t need the money advice service…
in terms of benefits — why the ■■■■ should i be forced to pay for your sprogs if you can’t afford them then you shouldn’t have had them and i got no sympathy for you at all…
as we say up here “you makes your bed - now lie in it” and ffs stop complaining when she’s spent all your money that too goes with the territory…
Totally agree with the finances bit of this as I used to live on my own with no wife and kids. Had my own 4 bedroom house, nice land rover discovery, holidays abroad (at least 2 weeks( twice a year, various weekends abroad too), meals out, DVDs galore etc etc, thousands saved in the bank, bills at a minimum, do what I want when I wanted to. HOWEVER I do not regret for one minute meeting my wife and her 3 daughters. They have brought love and joy into a life which whilst I had a lot was severely lacking in the emotional stakes. I earn a fraction over £7 p/h (21k pa) my wife doesn’t work as she is a student (something she has gone back to which I fully support her in), we do not have SKY at all just Freesat, we run 2 cars, a car for me for work and a car for her to pootle round in with the girls (karate, army cadets, swimming) we pay nearly £500 per month rent as we have re-located (to a more expensive to live in area!). The food cupboards are always full, no credit, no HP, household bills only. 4 of us have mobiles all be it pay as you go, we have a dog and a rabbit (the furry kind not adult toy kind!!!), we go to the cinema at least once a month and eat out at least once a month. We have’t got swanky furniture (mostly off Ebay or Freecycle). We went all-inclusive to Tenerife last year for 12 days and had various holidays through the Sun’s offer. This year already we have 2 holidays booked through the SUn. Other times we visit relatives in other areas of country which is always all-inclusive!!! And here’s the kicker we can still bank £150.00 per week and we have another baby on way! So I’m sorry lifestyle wise I have never had it so good and would never go back to those single days!!! TIN HAT ON
21k is about £300 take home per week isn’t it? and you bank £150 per week? so you live on £600 per month? Your rent is £500, so you have bills, holidays, cars, phones, food etc on £100 per month?
assuming you’re creaming benefits then?
[/quote]
I receive no benefits whatsoever! My wife however receives £165. pw child tax credit and £188.10 per 4 weeks Family Allowance. All of which over the years we have paid into the system 100s of times over and only get what Dave and Nick say we are entitled to! No Council Tax, no housing benefit - the only other benefit we get is free NHS at the dentist as she has a medical exemption. So no sir we do not cream the benefit!!! Incidentally we would be better off if I didn’t work and claimed unemployment benefit - do I no!! And £400 a week topline gives me £320.66. According to you them with your creaming the benefit system are all those that claim meal allowance doing the same■■? Claim what you are entitled to!

PM sent with details to listing of my ex-home. Please do not paste this link to here as I do not want people knowing where I lived or whom I am!
assuming your child benefit is per week and that isn’t typo
you are claiming (you are a couple) £850odd a month in benefits. Yes, thats creaming it. Not having a go, 1000’s are doing it. It’s not your fault, it’s the governments.
Claiming that sort of money and being able to save £600 a month is disgusting. The government are giving you free savings.

means testing FTW!!!
I can assure you that is what we get I drive an 03 car my wife drives a T reg, we don’t do finance if we did that £600 a month we save towards our childrens future would be gone, we don’t smoke or drink, get take-aways, but eat sensibly and are budgeted for.

Incidentally my wife bought her ex-house for £12,225 cash for a 3 bedroom terraced in Doncaster in 2001

we’d all like free savings to put by for our children.
You receive in benefits more than a full time worker gets on minimum wage…ON TOP of your fall time wage. It’s wrong, it HAS to stop.
Again, not having a go at you, more the government.
Norfolknewbie you’ve tried to make out that you’re some sort of financial whizz but the reality is a bit different is it not? Without Government benefits you’d be in rather a different situation! That’s what’s bollox!

You can’t have a go at him about it tho, without children we as humans would cease to exist, when only the richest people could have children we get child benefit for our kids nothing else because of the overtime I did last year I get no tax credits, however people were creaming long before I was born its not a new thing, anyone remember married couples tax allowances, and I’m paying to a state pension I will never get as my age group wont get one.
I don’t go round saying stop paying pensions because I wont get one.
I had a go at him only because he omitted to mention his benefits in the first place and tried to give the impression he was achieving everything he had on £21k salary…

"we pay nearly £500 per month rent as we have re-located (to a more expensive to live in area!"
Yikes!
If you asked for a £500pm rent around here, you’d be shown a burned out house next to a drug den recently vacated for some reason or other…
I get to save most of my outgoings by not running 2 cars or 2 phones, and I don’t go out socially much.
Regardless of that, I rarely have time to get bored, a running joke with the missus who thinks the same way.
Like a drink now and again, given up smoking already, have more pets than people in the house, don’t do SkySports, but insist upon a quality connection regardless. No Credit, No HP, household bills and filling the car/larder up is pretty much it for me as well.
Unlike you though, I don’t seem to have enough to afford a foreign holiday, but that’s more about me being a tightwad in “not being able to justify the waste” than anything else. My last holiday was the year I took VR, and I toured the entire country, leaving out only Merseyside as the county I didn’t go through during the trip… My last foreign holiday was Egypt before the troubles of late started. THAT remains “the cheapest holiday I ever had” in that I got to come home with over half of my spending money still left!
If everyone declines the enrichment of their so-called betters at their own expense, then more of us will find being able to get by is actually quite easy, once the debt issue has been kicked into touch.
