this is the 6th year that were not going to have a pay rise…things are starting to get tight at home now, were not starving but every penny and a bit more is being taken up…i work nights and i am working a 6th shift every other weekend as overtime.it started off 2-3 years ago i would do an extra shift for some extra pennys for birthdays/xmas but it s got to the point now that were goosed if i dont get the extra shift every other week…the company in my opinion is going down the pan but theres no night work locally to me.in an ideal world i would find a new job, easier said than done because my wife works days,so i work nights for the school run etc…is anyone else struggling out there.im salaried for 25k a year mon -fri nights no overtime paid for mon-fri…i probably do about 50-60 hours for 466.96 per week, then a sat/sun night is paid on the hour at 14 quid.
You earn more than me plus you have your wife’s wage on top and yet you’re still struggling?
You must be upto your eyes in debt.
3/10 , woulda been more if you thought of the children on this troll
mortgage,2 cars as we start at different times, fuel, childcare.utility bills…it all adds up

dont follow sorry
Like everyone they adjust there lifestyle to there wage, no matter if your on £200 or £800 you’ll find a way to spend it, think its best you find some ways to cut back, luxuries like sky etc they all add u, because your relatively on a good wage I would say you could find a way to save a few pennies
thats what were doing now tbh, looking at everything…we never go out drinking/socialising…havent been out for over 4 years on the beer, dont smoke, yes we have broadband, yes we have a sky package but thats only the minimum £17…we have got debt but not from living a luxury lifestyle,we got into debt by my wife going back to work after 6 months and us having childcare costs, but we thought it would work out ok in the long run as we would reap the rewards when the children were in school and we could pay the debt off but as soon as the kids were in full time school and the childcare bills came down alot her hours got reduced so we didnt benefit from it…

That might be more than you’re on but that is not a good wage.
I’m salaried, 24K on nights Tues-Sat with no overtime and no extra for working Saturday.
I followed the best piece of advice my father ever gave me…never get married.
You are married have children and all the costs that come with that type of lifestyle.
We all make choices in life…you made a choice which costs a lot of money to maintain…I didn’t which is why despite earning less than you…I can save £1,200 per month towards buying my next house for cash.
The bus drivers I was on a CPC course with barely get £8 an hour - 40 hour week.
I earn roughly the same , I rent (which is probably higher than your mortgage) with 3 kids the youngest is 3yrs and a missus that stays at home looking after them , Yet I’m not stupid enough to declare on a public forum that I’m strugglung , when there are people out there earning HALVE your wage and still cope… That is why I think your a troll

youre right it is my choice and good luck with your path in life…i wouldnt change having children or getting married,i would change my wife going back to work when she did,we thought we were doing the right thing with her keeping her job, especially the way things have been over the last few years economy wise, but it didnt plan out as we hoped…we live and learn

It’ll be a bit lonely in that house you bought for cash without the wife and kids though. Sat there, alone, night after night, waiting to die…

And good luck with yours. But ditch Sky and get a freesat box and sit down and seriously go through your finances and draw up a sensible budget to reign in your spending a bit.

and thats what were trying to do,kids need feeding, house needs paying for,the kids want a pet but weve explained they cost too much money, were really are trying our best.
You say there is no night jobs locally so I assume you currently work locally. Why not walk, cycle or get a bus to work or better yet let her get a bus and pick her up that way you can get rid of a car and all the expense it brings. Good luck times are hard but at least you got a 2nd income and are on 7 grand a year more than me with your overtime.

i travel 30 miles each way to work, similar for my wife,i start before she finishes most nights.i honestly feel like throwin the towel in tbh and giving up the house and let whatever will be will be
I havn’t had a pay rise in 13 years, in fact a pay cut since 13 years ago when I first started, I am hardly susprised, nearly all the other drivers I know say they are earning less now compared to…xxxxxx
■■■■■ hole country we live in, get your OUT vote ready and maybe we can plug the borders and shore up the influx of cheap labour.
If your house is in - equity it would be something to think about. Seriously though why not speak to bank about going on interest only for a while till your wife can get a job with more hrs. Is it really worth her traveling 60 miles a day for reduced hrs? Would you be better off doing no overtime at all her quitting work and tax credits making it up + less outgoing only one car no childcare costs. All these things are worth thinking about. Speak to your lenders tell them your struggling you may be surprised they may freeze the interest for 6 months.
