Remember, as you work mon to Fri, you can only work for one day every other weekend and you have to have records for every day in the week in which you drove.

Not necessarily, it depends on the shift pattern during the week as to what driving you can legally do at weekends.

You should keep records for every day worked during a week that you do any driving in-scope of EU regulations
A week being 00:00 Monday to 24:00 Sunday

I work 45hrs a week mon – fri driving a 3.5t van, What hrs can i do at the weekend driving 7.5t upwards??

cheers iain

Generally, one day every other weekend but watch the hours for the WTD
Tachograph can explain this better than me but it might help if you could list your normal week from Mon to Fri -

example

1 hour of breaks each day all the rest is either driving or other work

Mon 6 am to 4pm = 9 hours
Tue 6 am to 4pm = 9 hours
Wed 6 am to 4pm = 9 hours
Thu 6 am to 4pm = 9 hours
Fri 6 am to 4pm = 9 hours

= 45 hours of actual work

hi ilaing you should try nas there an agency in livingston they pay 10 quid an hour where driver hire pay 8 good luck mate

I agree with ROG it’s getting to be a bloody habit :stuck_out_tongue:

To give a definite answer we would need to know what time you finish on Friday and what time you start again Monday, but on the face of it I’d say you would legally be able to drive for 1 day every other week.

You would need to watch the weekly hours for the WTD but to be honest the drivers hours regulations are far more important.

Basically you need to have a 45 hour weekly rest period every week.
This can be replaced with a reduced weekly rest of no less than 24 hours every other week.

In any two consecutive weeks you should have either two full 45 hour weekly rests or one 45 hour weekly rest and one reduced weekly rest of no less than 24 hours.

When you have a reduced weekly rest, the time that it’s reduced by should be paid back by the end of the third week following the week in which the reduced weekly rest was taken.

For instance if you have a 36 hour reduced weekly rest you would need to add 9 hours onto a rest period of no less than 9 hours by the end of the third week following the week in which the 36 hour weekly rest was taken.

The driver card will probably take anywhere from 3 days to a fortnight to get back to you, but I think they’re usually quite quick so good luck with that.

By the way congratulations on passing the cat C

And Welcome to Trucknet UK

thanks for all your help,

these tacho hours are quite confusing. i start at 7am mon and finish 4pm fri

In that case, realistically you could legally work one day every other weekend.
When you work a weekend, legally you should be finished your driving job by no later than 22:00 Sunday.

as far as I can see legally it really doesn’t matter what part of the weekend you do a driving job in-scope of EU regulations as long as you have at least 27 hours weekly rest and as long as you can be finished by 22:00 Sunday.

This will ensure that you can compensate for the reduced weekly rest every second week, and get your reduced daily rest of no less than 9 hours in before starting your week job, though to be honest as you’re driving in the week as well, it would be wise to ensure that you have adequate rest between finishing the weekend job and starting on Monday.

It would be possible to legally do one shift every weekend, but you would need to either be finished by 10:00 Saturday or start no earlier than 13:00 Sunday and be finished no later than 22:00 Sunday, so realistically probably not a viable option but still worth considering if you can get a regular shortish shift.

Good luck with the job search

just crack on pal, keep the week cards seperate for example dont carry them at weekends and just blow on earn what u can,
