Them G range Scanias look suspiciously like an R cabbed 4 series with the new grille grafted on & people are moaning about it? Oh come on FFS what is the matter with you lot? Do you really need a top of the range motor with a load of empty cupboards? No, you don’t, you’re turning into a load of ■■■■■■■ pansies, no wonder the country is in such a state, time to grow up now boys & girls

They’re not the same as the R cabs, they are lower in general, you can see this when they’re side by side, steps, windscreen and doorline is all lower. They also have the engine tunnel up near seat level, no flat floor, they do have cupholders though…2 of them, shocking for a Scania. Got a 4 over 4 box with no splitter. It’s a lot like P series just bit higher, be interesting to know how much cheaper than a totally bog basic equivalent R420 would be.

Save the pennies and the pounds look after themselves. Stobarts don’t make mistakes when ordering equipment, I would be pretty sure of that. Let’s face it, if you aren’t doing nights out, what’s the problem with a G cab?
The new Schmitz trailers look well but I do think it looks like there is a bit of side skirt missing between the back wheel and the rear under run bar. Would of looked better with the basic side impact bars.

They use the floorpan from the 4 series R cab as far as I can see & if, as you say, the floor is almost at seat level then that confirms it, so again, WTF is the problem with driving it? That is a decent enough size for a cab, not as good as a bigger one obviously, but more than adequate
Not sure if that’s referring to me or the earlier comments, I don’t personally have an issue with them, though I do think it was possibly a better idea to stick with 3 axle trucks and not have the majority of the fleet that can’t pull full weight, and they do struggle sometimes especially with the 8 gears rather than 12.
I always thought Innovate’s good spec FH12s were excessive for the job but they were nice trucks, kept the drivers happy anyway and no issues with weight or fuel economy really, just not the most sensible way to keep costs to a minimum which is what Stobarts are all about.
As for the new Schmitz trailers, well they’re going to be a nightmare in the longrun I think, every time I get one there’s lights out on it, sometimes 1 but often 2 or 3 and it’s down to wiring faults for the LEDs or its blown bulbs (had a couple with the glass blown off them), the guy who maintains them at our place has said they’re a pain in the ■■■ already and we’ve only had them a couple of weeks. The axles are about 8-10inches further foward than other triaxle trailers too which is why the overhang looks wierd.
