To be fair.
I wouldn’t be happy if you done 30 mile detour for a coffee if you’re were on days.
It would be as bad if you were Tramping and done small detour to park up near home or somewhere u can have decent meal ect.
But doing that on day work is taking ■■■■ a bit.
In the cold light of day,i think you’re probably right.
Having once done the planning bit, it may not be as clear cut as you all are blaming the planner, the bosses could see them on their mobiles if they wished and in some cases alerts were put on certain trucks for if they did go off route or parked up for too long. ect… I got caught out when a truck went off route and the boss rang to ask why, I couldnt answer, blamed an accident but didnt know the real reason… luckily it went no further but maybe just maybe this might be the case…
however
""Interesting replies fella’s-cheers. I think Rob has hit the nail on the head. The reason I called back at home was because I had left my phone, and as Warrington is next to Runcorn where I was collecting salt, I didn’t think it was a big deal.
If the chap had anything about him, a simple question would have provided the answer. But this ■■■■ sucker wanted to impress his boss by telling tales, so there you go.
Just going to phone them now and explain that I need a 45 hour uninterrupted weekly rest starting from the minute after Uncle Knobhead rang. Rules are rules…“”
this is classic,op is interupting his own 45 hour to contact his planner to moan about him interrupting his 45 hour break some hours earlier…

The OP is a muppet who is making himself unemployable, but hey he also sticking it to the man so the other brainless muppets on here view him like a demi-god, sad really.

Hope that ‘brainless muppet’ analysis does not include me mate. Nor do I view anybody as a ‘demi god’ either.
What would you do in a similar situation? say yes sir, no sir, sorry sir?
Ok I do not know how far EagerB veered off his route, and I admit the severity of the ‘offence’ depends on the distance that he may or may not have covered.
He however, thought he was being treated unfairly, so I can only base my opinion on what he has said.
If he was indeed being treated unfairly by some jumped up little nonentity who is used to yesmen, and he stood up for himself, good on him I say.
If the criteria of being employable as you mention, is how far and willing you will take it up the arse, I reckon you could also accuse me of being the same, but I have managed ok up to now thanks, with a better quality of life than some other drivers, and I am fairly confident that there is a connection with that attitude and that state of being.

I know. You couldn’t make it up. One has only to look at the above comments and else where to see the type of clown we have here. Someone who appears to have trouble holding on to a job and he can’t understand why, someone who clearly suffers from Dunning-Kruger effect.

I disagree. As I said above and in his last infantile immature rambling thread, he would always get a job in a circus…as a clown.

The thing is robroy, you seemed to have recently aligned yourself to idiots like EagerB…and that could make some people think you are one and the same.

EagerB is clearly the most unstable of the alliance.

Yep, if my only transgression was going a couple of clicks out of my way to pick up something I’d forgotten, I’d be rather put out if I was called up for an investigation on it, rather than just a quiet word… But if I’d had to do a whole loop of the M25 again because I’d missed my exit (as one of our drivers did ) I’d expect to get my botty smacked!
Yet strangely that driver just ended up having the urine extracted!

but he went a few clicks as you say twice on one journey… was it a few clicks?? and he as clearly said he often goes off route.
I often call home too, ect however a quick call maybe the 1st few times you do it, you get the reply I got which was " dont worry go home when you near, dont have to tell us, just dont take the ■■■■…"
the op has a chequred past and if you think his employer has,nt already picked up on this then think again…
you have to earn trust in this game, and doing what he as on several occasions as a relatively new employee is just plain stupid.
Do you have built in company phones? If so how come you didn’t ring up the office and say “would you mind terribly if i swing by my house to grab my phone?” that way your arse is covered if they say yes but you also know where you stand if they say no.
Also did I read somewhere that you are a day driver? If so why couldn’t you do without it for just that one shift? At the end of the day mate it was your ■■■■ up and it was your personal phone, explain to me then why it was the companies responsibility, duty and money to correct that ■■■■ up?
I personally think you are being a bit Naive here and if I’m honest quite childish too, nothing personal against you EB it’s just how this particular situation has come across to me.
Yes the guy in the office sounds like a right weaselly little prick, I’m not arguing that, but you put yourself into the position in the first place.
I would have gone without my phone for the day tbh, unless I was expecting a really really important call, I can’t see how you can justify going to get it.
Just remember that all the egging on and encouragement you get off everyone else here concerning the 45 hrs off, is from people who couldn’t really give a flying [zb] if you got sacked on Monday or not, they won’t be out of a job, they’ll just be entertained by Monday evenings update from you, think very carefully how you handle it is all I’m saying.
Well I don’t believe for a second that he left his phone at home!! It was just a ridiculous excuse in my opinion.

spot on!!! personally I would take this advise…
Few facts for the experts to dwell on. From our depot to Ineos I would turn left at Daresbury Laboratory and go past the exit for the Runcorn-Widnes bridge, Ineos is a couple of miles further on. Instead of turning left, I carried on for around 3 miles to my gaff in Warrington town centre to grab my mobile from the side of the bed (I use the alarm on it to wake up).
So we are looking at a 6 mile off route jobby there. I am not working all day without my personal mobile. Any medical issues with Mrs B or the kids and I want to be on the end of the phone.
After getting loaded at Ineos I turned right at J12 M56 to nip for a drink and a ■■■■. Probably 5 miles each way, so I don’t know where all this 30 mile ■■■■■■■■ has come from. Looking at a max of 16 miles.
I could of contacted the office to ask if I could go and get my blower. But they would have probably said no, and to be honest I would rather ■■■■ a turd out of a cockroaches turd hole.
The beauty of this forum is that all the nobody’s of this world pipe up. The fella’s who don’t apply lubricant to their ring piece know who they are For me it’s simple. A quick word in the shell like would have sufficed, but unfortunately we have people in life who don’t have the bottle to speak up, and prefer to sneak around in the shadows telling tales to further their ‘career’.
Please can all the rest of the frightened worms come out of their casts, it’s cheering me up no end!!
Let you know shortly folks about the new job.

Sorry to disappoint you mate but the day I take to heart what people think of me will be the day I give up.
However it does not stop me from biting if somebody has a pop.
Incidentally why is he an idiot just because he answered back, he seems to be getting a lot of condemnation for his reaction, but those that are condemning him are not saying what they would do themselves, but in a lot of cases, and judging by some of their previous posts, I can guess.
Forgot to add…realised that if I phoned the depot regarding my 45 hrs off, I would have indeed cocked things up.
Which is why I didn’t And will be attending work at 09.28 hr s which is 45 hrs and 1 minute after Monsieur ■■■■■■■■■■ rang me on my mobile to tell me to get in for 6am.
