New job time (again!)

Can’t go straight to disciplinary Del. Got to be an investigation first, but if you read the op properly you would realise that…

But to be honest, I really don’t give a toss. It’s a JOB FFS. Plenty more available for those of us who aren’t afraid…

I think the fact you have made such a big deal of it on here shows your afraid…

I doubt it. When he got chucked from Stobarts he went straight on agency and worked at Iceland before Downtons. EB is right, there is work in that area for those who want it.

I’m not supporting Downturns but look at it from their view. You’re off route and stopped outside your home address with a full load of razor blades and while you’re inside on the throne, the local scally has got the doors open and its easy cash for him, couple a cases disappear and on sale in the local boozer within 30 minutes. Diesel is being nicked but they don’t know where or how, hold on Eager is parked outside his house.
When I were a lad the transport manager would pull you up for a chat between the trailers to say don’t do it again but with big companies these days they just go for the fear factor route.
Regarding the 45 hour rest, I would go in work as normal and explain to the man in charge the phone call and leave the ball in their court.
Go in the investigation meeting, hold your hands up to admit the offence, take in your shop steward and at the any other questions time drop in the phone call and Mondays conversation.
Drift and Robroy are right, treat me like a knob and no qualms in walking out and leave with dignity.

This Ben fella, is he the same weasel toutting for drivers on Lymm last year? Wouldn’t give any details about wages or hours just we’ll tell you when you start. No thanks.

Afraid of what Darkside? Every time I get a different job I let people know who I work for. I also let other drivers know the pro’s and con’s of the place.

That’s the point of a forum for fellow truck drivers, to let them know the score.

Who do you work for??

Can’t quite understand why a co. would get so aereated over such a non event. :unamused:
I’m assuming he did not do a 20 mile detour so what’s the problem exactly?
We deliver to a firm about a mile and a half from where I live, I will go home for a break and have a coffee and maybe a shower, they are fully aware as I am tracked…nothing has ever been said.
I more often than not do a slight detour to find a suitable parking place rather than park in the first lay by somewhere near 8.59.
Nobody has ever died because of my actions. :open_mouth:

maybe there is more to this than than the keenrodent is telling us? just saying like…

Do I detect a bit of niggle/ag between you two?

His names Ben, he’s a planner over in runcorn

Is he the one with the goaty/small beard? Dark hair? Abbrasive attitude?

Yeah, I wasn’t going to mention that…
I took this job on your recommendation, and now you tell me…

My lawyer will be in touch.

(Not really. I like my 4on-4 off rota very much. And I’ll deal with any (eventual ?) Corporate ■■■■■■■■ in my usual way. If I like the job, ■■■■ the office. If I don’t like the attitude, I move. Good luck in your next job Beaver  )

Unfortunately this spying thing is symptomatic of most large outfits. Often have school leavers, oh sorry, ‘graduates’ occupying desks in the office with a job to justify and managers to impress. In other words, they actively spend their days looking for things to ‘launch an investigation’ on.

Cheers Mule

I have said previously that I am quite happy at Downton’s mate. But I was tipped off by a driver on Friday that this prick in the office was moaning to another planner pansy that I had ’ a liking for Chester services '.

So they obviously (being the busy folks they are) went for a play on the tracker and thought they were clever little detectives by working out that I had gone back to my gaff that day.

I didn’t expect them to be that sad, so it’s disappointing but not really the end of the world. It’s only a job.

Don’t you tramp and go home for the day?
Or day work and going for lunch?
How long where you parked up for?

:open_mouth:
You obviously interpret things different to me mate, I certainly did not detect any fear in his post.
How did he make a ’ big deal’ of it exactly, he just reported events as they were as far as I seen it.

I can’t deny who I work for, it’s emblazoned all over my pic in members rides thingy

We as drivers realistically are never going to overcome company procedures but and its a massive BUT, we need drivers of vast experience putting across the issues and downfalls of over bureaucratic companies (also educating human resources experts from university) the real world.
Thankfully I work for a small depot own account franchise but reading stuff here and about various Internet sites an umbilical needs to be made to connect the upper management to the real world issues that Middle management can not handle, or ignore

Too many people now days are weighed down with debts/mortgages that they struggle to keep on top of, meaning that they are too afraid to stand up for themselves regarding work. As I understand it Beaver served his country and has a military pension, so possibly isn’t in a situation where he needs every penny. Good for him! So those that are trying to make out that there is more to the story, maybe you’re in a different boat and have a different subservient mindset…

Without meaning any disrespect, the majority of ex servicemen i have worked with are the biggest collective of bellends ever created. If I was ever to employ a driver, I doubt having ex forces on the CV would benefit. Sorry if that offends anyone.

Moocher- I was going from the depot (Preston Brook) to Ineos salt at Runcorn to collect a load. Realised I had left my blower at home (Warrington), so nipped over and collected it. Went over to Ineos and got loaded, and came back past Rock Savage to J12 M56 (returning back to Preston Brook).

Wanted a ■■■■ and a coffee, so nipped down 1 junction to Chester services. I was there for about 3 mins when my cab phone rang and it was one of the planners asking why I was at Chester services. Explained that I wanted a ■■■■ and the planner asked why I didn’t wait until I returned to the depot. I told him that it was as broad as long so I opted for the services.(Better coffee).

He then said that I needed to get back to the depot asap because this other guy was there waiting to swap his crappy unit for mine.

It appears that this planner and his boyfriend Ben decided to then check my movements for the day.

Yeh Maggie was a very clever woman, sold all the workers their council houses, making her popular to a point, but at the same time carrying out, and achieving, her true agenda of eradicating industrial action and gaining subservient workers.

■■■■ me! :open_mouth: Somebody slap me I’m sounding like Carryfast.

The planner in question on this case phoned me at 12.27 today. I will be going in to work at 09.27 Monday morning.

And going home again unemployed by 9.45 Monday morning.

Yeh but think of the compo. :bulb:

What compo? I don’t think he’s been there long enough to be eligible to take an unfair dismissal claim to a tribunal. The qualifying period is two years.

Not at all, there are plenty of ex servicemen tools, but 2 of my best mates are ex military, and top blokes…
My reference however had nothing to do with that, just the lack of dependence on income…

:open_mouth: Tbh mate I would not have dignified that question with an answer, or if I had it would be to go and ■■■■ himself…but that’s just me.
Who needs that sort of crap ffs. :unamused:
