Try taking the correct turn in future and save your company some fuel £’s
Sorry tongue was firmly in cheek at that point i’m sure we’ve all heard the “old school” tales

I’ve only been on this forum a short time and when I first joined i was gob smacked as some of the attitudes on here, especially for people who call themselves professionals drivers. Some posts on here really are along the same lines as school playground argument.
Spot on kwaka jack.Your last sentence says it all about some posters. It is just unbelievable to think some of them are mature enough to be in charge of a heavy truck.
Humour is good but leave the childish rubbish out.
Blimey the OP seems to have stereotyped the issue a bit too much. Some of the best ‘discussions’ and heated ‘disagreements’ on here have been between those of us who’d regard ourselves as ‘old school drivers’.
I’ve noticed a few and very few no all’s on other threads who put “newbies” down I’ve been driving since my 18th and after 8 years I’m still serving my apprenticeship in my eyes, I learn something new most days and on the whole have been helped by many off the more experienced drivers on here sure I see the odd short snappy answer as if some off us a thick but I’m a one firm man and only know one way so find it helpful to scoot through here to find other or better ways to go about my job, as I said I have no complaints on how I’ve been replied to on here but have seen a few arguments start just like the one this thread has done! we all want the same thing go to work come home safely see our families and avoid the law so everyone should just help eachother do just that.
For the people who have answered some off my questions many thanks much appreciated
I never intended to cause any arguments or stereotype anyone. It was as simple as an observation.

Is it wrong to have already stereotyped commonrail as a wind up merchant? And before you say anything, there is no malice intended
only jesting…i did include a winking man.
i heard a forkie saying it to his mate, who was struggling to load my trailer…it amused me, so i thought it might amuse some of you

I’m easily amused anyway.

ROG:
This is news to me !!I have been on this site for a few years and have not noticed what you are saying
Sure, a small minority will have a strong opinon or be a pain and some will be too sensitive but they are the minority IMO
They are the minority, ROG. And it’s that minority that I am talking about.
If that bothers you then you will never be happy on any internet forum because they all seem to have that issue

Don’t worry lad, you’ll get the hang of it one day
Todays noobs are tomorrows old schoolers. Then in 20 years time when a driver gets in a cab, presses a button and the truck drives itself to the destination today’s noobs will be able to say how hard they had it back in the day coz they had to select auto, neutral or reverse on their iShift.
triple-tango:
This forum most definately has a clique. If youre not in it - your nobody. I’ve seen an awfull lot of arrogent unfriendly attitudes on here. Only a very small amount of helpful informative posts.
Ha your right there triple-tango. If you ever get fed up with some of the rubbish on here we could always have a chat about bikes.
My life long passion and my last one was a 1050 speed triple!

Yep all true.Trucks have certainly got a lot easier to drive over the years but unfortunately driving standards seem to be going from bad to worse in recent years.
No road manners anymore and courtesy went out with power steering!

totally agree with the Op,my own opinions on this site after i think 3 years is there seem to be some kind of club system, and this includes some of the mods, certain posts are allowed and other similar ones can be locked or deleted and it seems to be at times merely down to who as made the post…
I’ve raised this question before - threads vanishing without any explanation whatsoever - and got a reply from a mod which basically was if you don’t behave we close the thread down and we don’t have to give a reason. As I pointed out (and never got a reply), 20 posts are perfectly acceptable and maybe two aren’t. And then there is all the people who have been following the thread as well.
If a reason isn’t given for thread removal, how can the users know where the thread has gone bad? I felt that this particular mod was high-handed on this occasion.

i would say you can rest your case though
I don’t think this is a clicky forum at all. Not compared to other forums I frequent, drumming forum and RS owners club forum. I hardly ever post on any of those forums now because there is so much arse licking its unreal, it’s just so fake where at least truck drivers usually say how it is.
I’m a “new school” driver but I have hardly ever been talked down to by other drivers. I think you have to realise that a few old hands don’t know anything else, so try to justify their whole driving career, they like their memories of Europe, ferries, trains, etc and they are proud of that. I wouldn’t say it makes them a bad person it’s just they haven’t done anything else.
I read a lot of the posts and find myself shaking my head, the world has changed a lot during my years in the industry and personally, I don’t think it’s for the better, I do mention that sometimes and although my reply may appear condescending, I try to counter that with smileys or something the phrase ‘I know times have changed but’ and there’s always a but
You would think that as these forums are about lorries/transport and that the users are computer literate, and interested enough in the subject to be here in their free time, that there would be a little bit more ‘professionalism’ in their replies, but it is not always the case, sometimes there’s a bit of ■■■■ taking, sometimes the replies are insulting, but that’s life I guess. However if a few harsh words on the internet offend you that much, well it’s time to pull on your big boy trousers and MTFU really
