New drivers vs 'old school drivers'

Agree with you Newmercman the phrase heat and kitchen springs to mind.

newmercman:
I read a lot of the posts and find myself shaking my head, the world has changed a lot during my years in the industry and personally, I don’t think it’s for the better, I do mention that sometimes and although my reply may appear condescending, I try to counter that with smileys or something the phrase ‘I know times have changed but’ and there’s always a but

You would think that as these forums are about lorries/transport and that the users are computer literate, and interested enough in the subject to be here in their free time, that there would be a little bit more ‘professionalism’ in their replies, but it is not always the case, sometimes there’s a bit of ■■■■ taking, sometimes the replies are insulting, but that’s life I guess. However if a few harsh words on the internet offend you that much, well it’s time to pull on your big boy trousers and MTFU really :bulb:

even from some of the forum mods hey Mark

Many of the older drivers are ex-servicemen & taking the mickey out of each other keeps the wheels turning. Its HGV not PC. Smiley face for the easily offended-
Its good training to give as good as you get for when you get pulled by a foreign cop that wants to get the better of you. Any sign of weakness equaled a bigger fine.
On these forums you can get a lot of unhelpful comments but out on the road the older (& younger) drivers will help you 100%, unlike taxi drivers ( where I did stint) who were the most selfish unhelpful morons in general I’d ever met.
