Thats a new one fitting a second sender unit and having a manual switch in the cab to switch it on and off as you please :open_mouth: Come on thats no a lorry driver thats thought that one up, i wonder if he went to some university and offered some brainbox a few quid to find a way to bypass it.

na thats not new, thats been around for a year or two

I’m guessing its an older style tacho too?

I cannot believe the hypocrisy here of some drivers on this forum, this cannot be true!
If this guy had been EE, Dutch, and French or maybe Irish, the same people who applauded the Scottish bloke would have requested to shoot, quarter and hang these foreign pigs.
“They are stealing our jobs, kill our prices and should loose their license for life”
But……………………………………now it’s a Brit and it’s OK, the Guy only tried to make a living.
It’s alright nobody got killed, nobody got hurt………………….what an unbelievable nonsense.
I can not believe that anybody in his right mind can say that, what says that about professionalism? About a fair equal playground, about safety.

It says as so many times I have noticed, yes we want a big bomb to protect us against the enemy, but ……………………………not in my back garden!

The Guy played with fire, and burned his fingers, tough ■■■■!

And don’t come with the nonsense “are you whiter than white!!!” no I’m not, maybe I was blacker than black.
I’ve played with fire, burnt my fingers, but never defended it; it paid the bills in the good times, and sometimes its payback time.

Because I didn’t get caught doing 146 MPH on the M6, it makes it legal, or does it??

The Guy decided knowingly to try to mislead the system; it was not that he didn’t know what he was doing.
He could even drive cheaper than you and me because he didn’t need a second driver; he put you or me out the job.
AND THIS MAN IS A HERO■■? You’re having a Giraffe!

truckyboy:
As far as i`m concerned, rules are there for our own benefit, and thank god they are, or we will go back 30 years to the 19 hr days plus, and a pittance to live on.

Oh right, I see. Just one thing, which country was allowing a 19hr working day back in 1983?

That’s what I was driving in 1983 and most weeks took home between 350 & 400 quid!! Pittance?

Ross.

i’m told analoge and upto version 2 of the digi can be done by someone who knows how they work. it will always be the same as more complicated tachos are devised too try stop the fiddlers the more advanced the fiddlers will become. it’s a game i thankfully left behind many years

He didn’t, he got sent down for breaking the law, since leaving school I’ve had a few jobs and I’ve worked hard in a fair few of them, and how many times have I been sent down ■■ None, coincidently the same number of times I’ve broken the law :grimacing:

So you have never exceeded a speed limit, dropped a piece of litter whilst younger etc.?

He didn’t exceed a speed limit or drop a bit of litter, he altered his truck so he could run illegally, he got caught and got sent down, one less idiot on the roads :unamused:

You claimed you have never broken the law. Therefore answer my question!

Don’t waste your energy man, we’ve all met his type on the job. Whiter than white, never done a thing wrong in his life, what’s the word I’m searching for? I know, but I think the word I have in mind might just come out as a “■■■■■■■■■■

I have agree with Ross, A lot drivers on here who work for so called Blue Chip companies don’t know how they started back then, well I’ll tell you it was by their drivers bending the rules left right and centre, these notable companies would not be where they are today without their driver doing a moody, and how do you think they managed to cut rates? or do you think they just smiled sweetly at the customer. Some of the big names around today were so bent even I wouldn’t work for them. and these companies now like to look upon themselves as whiter than white, hollier than thou pillars of the community, you cant be that naive to think they wouldn’t do the same now if they thought they could get away with it , which is for the good, As for the Ministry (Blimey there’s an old name) I think we all understand how they work i.e., if a driver is supposed to have had an 11 hr break but only has 10hr.55mins in court they say he’s had NO break not that he was 5mins short, sounds better to the Magistrates, and in the papers it comes across as DRIVER DROVE FOR 24hrs WITHOUT A REST naughty boy. As for them who like to say he could have be involved in an accident and killed people, he hadn’t, just because your away from your motor doesn’t mean your in bed resting how many have been out to a party till the early hours of the morning, or up all night with the kids when they’re poorly etc, etc then turn up for work with insignificant rest, a moments inattention when your on the road and you could easily wipe out a family. I am not condoning what this driver done but nether can I condemn him, he got caught and will never get an operators licence again, maybe even lost his house, and be even harder to get a driving job again, but 6months inside, at that rate I wouldn’t be out till 2016. My record 50yrs on the road no tacho offences no speeding offences no accidents not even a gravy stain, or should I say never got caught, like many others I was lucky
Well I’m off to get my tin hat on.

A few years ago I was fined £3600 + costs for 9 counts of falsified charts in a 28 day period. Luckily I managed to get 8 counts dropped, but still got hit with £400 + costs for 1 offence. This man had 69 falsified charts plus was caught with an"electronic device". I’m guessing he maybe took a sentence over what could possibly have been a very large fine?

(I know you don’t believe me ‘big Ross’ because i’m a whiter than white RDC dwelling string wheel attendant:-|)

69 wouldnt have even scratched the surface i would suspect

Kerbdog:
I have no sympathy for him. I’m not a saint at all, but any anomalies on my tacho are purely by genuine error on my part

If you can’t run straight then you really need to get out. Would people still defend him if Vosa had only got onto him after an accident that killed someone whilst he was on a “break”

I’d rather have tired drivers around me than ■■■■■■ drivers tho eh?

Kerbdog:
All I can remember is that the barmaid was called Betty ! I remember coming out of there hammered. I was booked on the boat for 7am and also forgot about the local time difference to my ‘English’ clock ! Needless to say I missed the boat, the drive from Dover to Manchester later the next day was a drive I never want to repeat. Talk about a hangover haha. Anyone else with stories ?

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone!! HYPOCRITE!!!

No sympathy, what about a little empathy for a kindred spirit / fellow law breaker??

Ross.

I’ve got no reason not to believe you, but if that’s true why this;

happysack:
And by running bent he is under cutting his fellow OD’s therefore making it even harder for them to scrape a living

You should be supporting him, not ‘putting the boot in’!!

Ross.

Nah I’ll not be supporting him sorry.

So you run bent as ■■■■ but won’t support a fellow bent runner that’s been jailed for doing pretty much the same, I’m not surprised really, your just the typical 21st Century steering wheel attendant. That’s the difference between your type and a proper driver.

All for one & all for one, sod everyone else. The sort that when stuck gladly accepts help from another driver but when he needs a little help you just sit in your nice warm cab & watch the bloke that just pulled you out the ■■■■ struggle like a ■■■■■■

Just as I started to think you might be less than a ■■■■■■■ you prove otherwise.

Very well said. Unfortunetely most of what Britain is churning out now are the corporate clones who work for ‘blue chip’ companies and often do set day work, night trunks and such like and never actually have to think or act outside of the box. Its all smart trousers, pristine company logoed fleeces and shiney boots as they report to the office for a ‘shift’. It gives me no joy or satisfaction to say it, but these days many, if not most Eastern European drivers are a far bigger asset to their firms as they generally have a positive attitude and will do whats requried to get the job done while unfortunetely a large proportion of British drivers have a ‘no can do’ attitude and suffer from extreme millitancy when it comes to doing things by the book with their obsession with tacho manual entires, recording everything as ‘other work’ and such like to do as little as actual work as possible. I’ve worked with plenty of British drivers who wont do nights out, wont do more than 12 hours a day, wont pull a tilt, wont go abroad and wont get out of bed for less than £xxxxx. In short they’re a complete waste of time and its no wonder companies employ Pavel or Marek when they will do 3 15s, will do tilts, will run in on a saturday morning without having a tantrum and wont sit on a bay for 5 hours with their card on ‘other work’ and then pull on to the road for a 45 minute break, all things that make a growing share of British drivers not worth employing in the first place in a tough and cut throat business.
