I’ve read some ■■■■■ on this forum and this is is as much rubbish as anything I’ve read on here, go & buy a truck and try to make a living out of it before you make a comment about someone like this. International road haulage is one of the toughest sectors to make a living from as the rates aren’t set by British o/d’s who ‘pull the fuse’, but by hauliers from the former commie block with 12 year old trucks &two blokes called Stanislav double manning all over europe virtually none stop for a few hundred Euro’s a month each.

These forums are full of people that are always ready to ‘put the boot in’ to people about who’s lives they know absolutely nothing about & I don’t mind admitting I’m getting really sick of this whiter than white attitude, some of you ‘hi-viz’ brigade should join the flippin clergy!!

I’m off before I blow a fuse.

Ross.

Another tool who knows nothing about running their own truck on International Haulage, “plenty to retire on”!! You might as well walk around with an inflated prophylactic on your head.

You shouldn’t be allowed out on your own, let alone comment on a subject that you so clearly know less then F/all about.

you aint wrong there, o and btw the fish rates aint the best nowadays and are made worse by the fact that if you are late on delivery they take money off as the load aint as fresh as it was.

i’v said it before and i’v said it too george’s face aswell that the days of the big hooting are done, it’s just not a slap on the knuckles and a fine, it’s a prison sentence aswell now but it wont stop them doing it

Hey there big r250…this is a forum and that’s my opinion. That’s what forums are for. I’ve never owned a truck and have zero intention of ever doing so. But I do know plenty of owner drivers.Regarding being whiter than white…i’m not.
I agree with you that the foreign motors are screwing the game…
But, lets look at two men with wagons in Aberdeen. They are offered a run, to lets say Belgium. “I want this load tipped, then reload back to Aberdeen”. Driver A, says out will take so many hours driving, plus so many hours legal breaks so will take x amount of time. Driver B, says ■■■■ that, I’ll not need any breaks, I can do it way quicker. Who gets the job? Who makes money on the “long” run while the other driver might be left with the local dross?
Ok I admit i’m an ignorant uneducated pleb, but that’s my take on things. I do apologise to your superior knowledge of I am wrong.

I have to say that in this day and age and regardless of what happened in the 70’s and 80’s, I have no sympathy for him. I’m not a saint at all, but any anomalies on my tacho are purely by genuine error on my part, not because I knowingly and delibrately went to extreme lengths to get around the system that everybody else is adhering to. This is now 2013. Times have changed. If you can’t run straight then you really need to get out. Would people still defend him if Vosa had only got onto him after an accident that killed someone whilst he was on a “break” as lets be honest, if he’s driving and the truck is on a break it’s probably because he has already done more than 15 hours work ?

I guessed it wouldn’t be too long before someone wheeled that little nutmeg out, & don’t give me all that crap about a 40 ton missile, a car driver can legally drive for 48hrs none stop & his fatigue cause an accident on a UK motorway full of 44 tonners causing them to cross the carriageway etc etc.

I know I’m in a minority here but I do get sick of all the boy scouts with “no sympathy” for a bloke who’s almost certainly backed against a wall and only trying to keep his head above water & unless you’ve been in his position (which I have!!!) you couldn’t possibly understand why he’s done this.

Ross.

Well you don’t get done for doing it ! You get done for getting caught.

Aged 57 and going to those lengths to cover up? there has to got be a reason for it, thats not a stuck in his old ways thing.

I went bankrupt in 2004 and lost everything through having my own truck business…I can !

Let’s all start running bent again then shall we ? Times are tough for everyone so it’s fair game is it ?

My father was one of these “whiter than white”, “holier than thou” people. He never had an accident or was prosecuted once in his life-long career in lorry driving.
In my younger days I took the Mick out of him constantly for his attitude but, after a good few years of reflection and experience, I have come to realise that one of his favourite mantras was true. Allow me to share it with you-
“If you can’t do the job right, then don’t do it at all”.

No ones whiter than white old ■■■■

I’m with you on this Ross, too many people spoutin bollox who hold a license on here but don’t know their way around apart from one RDC to a local supermarket.
We had to do Aberdeen to Bolougne fish market in a 15 hr spread over … or else!
