My Diary with pic`s

Thought id give you all a look at my job for a week running from Wrexham North Wales. Started on sunday this week, well itd be rude not too on overtime rate
This is my ride for tonight DK05 FTF

20 pallets of Tetley bitter cans for Leeds

The joy of working nights, no traffic had a nice easy run up

Into Carlsberg

Even had the flt drivers helping out :open_mouth:

All tipped and ready for home empty

Quick stop at county fuels runcorn to top up

Total distance 323 km`s nothing like a long shift to start the week

Monday sees me having to under take another night of long haul work, i am off to Burton upon Trent, and back in the same shift  DK05 OGO is mine once the tyre fitted has finished ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00263-2.jpg) A run across the A50 in the evening sun ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00266-1.jpg) Into our new warehouse in Burton, result the plase is empty ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00267-1.jpg) so its straight onto the bay ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00268-1.jpg) Tipped in no time and ready for the run back home empty ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00269.jpg) Total distance 263 kms

Tuesday and i am on the Guinness Runcorn job, this can be no loads or 3 loads it all depends on how lucky you are
On DK05 FUF :frowning: its as clean inside as it is outside)

Were going in there to tip, not the best of places to back into in the daylight ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00277.jpg) ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00278.jpg) ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00280.jpg) Loads of room in this bay ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00281-1.jpg) This place cans, bottles & kegs, it all comes in from ireland concentrated, so remember next time your enjoying a can of the black stuff most of it comes from a tap in cheshire  ![](http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y88/nianiamh/DSC00282.jpg) Told to get straight back with another load. Theres a load of glass in the bay on my return, i am still on my way within 40 mins so not bad, just a shame they want a 3rd load

Better luck this time, the bays empty, in & out in 15 mins and home time

This is our can warehouse in Wrexham

Total distance 334 km`s

Wednesday and ive got 2 loads to Manchester MX06 GGK, i am glad ive got this tonight as i was getting a little fed up with taking pics of white mercs with blue trailers

Thats were i am going

Nice start, the bay is empty

I am soon joined by Pretty Boy Jones, his mum does his hair before he comes to work

Straight back to the yard for another load, one of Steddy Eddies there when i arrive

30 mins later and i am all done and ready for home

Total Distance 359 km`s

Thursday and it back on the Guinness Runcorn job for me on DK05 OGO

Had to load & go tonight

Into Guinness and straight into the bay

Then the flt driver gave me the bad news,
they dont want another load untill 7am    result i should just about be getting up by then after such a early finish Total Distance 110 kms

Friday and i`ve booked a holiday for tonight
as after such a hard week     i think i deserve a few full cans for myself, so its 3 nice days off for me.

any more jobs there.
its an easy one.
be nice if you could keep the one tautliner and keep the the top sliders greased and easy to open.

good week, ive done a couple of those jobs when i was on the agency for tetleys in leeds till they tried to ban me… :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

I’ve done Carlsberg in Leeds myself. In fact,my old gaffer is/was the transport manager for Gist when I was last in there, about 2 years ago.

As you come out of there,to the main road, there’s a cracking Indian takeaway next to the taxi rank, across the road.Gets the Quinny seal of approval.

Ken.

Good diary, thanks for sharing.

Looks like a nice job you’ve got there too!

Alex

Great diary!

Reminds me of when I did a bit of Euro work for Continental Canning Company…I pulled a few loads out of Wrexham in my time

You look like you have a nice job there too! 460 bhp under a trailer full of empty cans…nice!

Are the white units owned by DHL or are they hire jobs with magnetic logos on?

thats what i do greg, im lucky o have the same trailer every day, and i grease the â– â– â– â–  out of them once a week, makes the job so much easier

Thanks for the excellent write up and photos of your weeks work, loks like as good firm, you are working
for

Good diary mate, used to tip in that bay at Guiness myself, and its on you get on first time or take forever to do it

I find the 460 motors are not to bad with 2.5 ton on them

The 7 units we`ve got are all on contract hire with DHL stickers on em
same with the trailers apart from the 3 DHL ones we have

Nice pics and diary Neal.

That was a real busy week for you Neal. I try and do around 1000km A DAY when doing long haul :unamused: :unamused:
Nice pics mate.
Be careful not to exert yourself too much

Nice diary there nianiamh.

I’ve seen those high trailers like TRG 22 running about and wondered what job they were used on. Now I know!

Seen lots round Birmingham.

 u forgot to mention yr on a gteed 12hrs as well…just to rub it in! :open_mouth:
i blame u entirely for the high cost of canned beer!

Great diary and pics nianiamh,
:open_mouth: I can’t help wondering why you do such a difficult job though…:grimacing:

All those ‘one-htters’ must be very tiring, then when you get there, you have to pull those nasty big curtains to unload… :frowning:

On the other hand, when I did Burton-on-Trent on nights, I didn’t have all that stress to contend with…
On the way, I used to be conscientious and stop to check for leaks…
:open_mouth: Then it took approx 1hr 15min to offload, so cushy overtime was difficult to avoid…

 Cos I was on a nice clean CO2 tanker, and we wouldn’t want to over-rev the pump would we… :sunglasses:

The only downside was the smell of beer. Ugh :smiling_imp:

bugcos:

We load paper out of inverurie on a bay like that, its a total pig to back into, there is scaffolding at the front of the truck, its a blind side reverse and we have to open the curtains and raise the suspension on the megas before going in. Nice and easy to strap up though

Good diary, I have had a few nights out at Carlsberg, there is a real real ale pub at the other side of the fence.

nianiamh, thats not ball packaging by any chance is it? If it is I’ve spent many a hour sat in there waiting. :frowning: I work for Woodsides on nights.

Thats the place woody, looks like youve been there when some of the not so good shifts are on in the warehouse :unamused: at least your not on for Gwynedd Shipping, they seem sit there longer than most, dont ask me why as you know its only 5 mins to load the bloody things
i am on nights myself, this is the motor that i should be on every night as the day driver has asked for me to share it with him to keep it tidy,
give us a shout if you see me in there ill get the coffee`s in

I`ve got the 20.00hrs Hereford & 01.40 Samlesbury tonight, so that ill keep me out of the way for a few hrs tonight.

I usually drive a Scania, fleet no. 207, just in case I miss you. I was sat there for 3 hours the other week and, like you said, got loaded in 15 mins. once I got on the bay. Its quite a special place
You said yesterday that you were going to Samlesbury last night, that wouldn’t be Inbev would it? Cos I used to work for them as well. I’ll keep a look out for you next time I’m in your place and we’ll put the world to rights. Take it easy mate
