When were you on with Croome then? I was there for a time until I fell out with Matthew in the office over a lack of cash after the wife lost her ■■■■■ and had to cancel the cards. I always regretted leaving though. I liked it there. 187 was the unit number. I’m sure it’s coincidence that it’s the police radio code for homicide over here.
Last I heard of Cornish John, he was on with Daveys Livestock in Launceston. His cousin or brother or something. He’s a star. Never knew someone who could charm ladies like him.
bobthedog Did you know Charley Parsley…? He was the yard man at Croomes for a long time. We were on Malta Cross together & then many years later he drove for Croomes but suffered a massive heart attack while sleeping in his cab.Bit of a sad story.

early 90s - if you mean matthew sweet i didn’t know him there but have had dealings since and am not impressed let us say that’d be K150SKP?
Biggus. Julian is on TNUK occasionally.
Clint is still running out to Italy for a removals firm now, can’t remember which one at the mo.
I think Dennis went to the AA, doing car transporter work.
I think Pete Blanchard did too, at the same time.
Scotch Eddy is working for Dalkeith Transport, after being laid off from Martin Olivers. He was doing Euro work for them in a MAN wagon n drag.
Steve (Flip flops) has been with Abbey Tanks in Hull since Murfitts.
Barry has been at Unitruck since then too.
Cornish Phil is with Ontime, I met him at Nobis (Asten) Truckstop a few months ago.
Was that Quicktime or Quickfreight, from Oswestry? They bought several of the Eurostars to do Kellogs work with.
I heard that Dave (Morphine) had a heart attack and died, no idea if that’s true or not.
Quite a few went to Transnole, including Simon n Sheila and Chris n Randall.
Big Abdul was with ■■? blast, the name just disappeared. Yellow units with dark blue trailers, don’t know if he’s still there though.
City Cruiser was looking for work the last time I spoke to him.
Not heard anything about Splinter since Murfitts.
si. if the chris+randall you are on about is chris wick+randal edwards they now run abbey freight in whitelesey. 100 m from murfitts yard. quickfreight bought the eurostars. dave(morphine) sadly think you are correct with what you say as i heard this also just before xmas.
few more: melvyn haynes, rhys neale from swindon, dave & chris candy, rigsby (keith), john cahill, steve waltham (walty), graham peacock, tattooed dave off the fridges - understand he’s at HM’s pleasure along with another driver?, one-hit simon woolner, bill hyde - and some of the office staff colin doy, matt o’dell, derek gillett, richard kirkby and glenn moulding at littleport, ivan palmer, carl wharf, andy stonebridge, mark woods, pete ashbee, peter “pinky” goodman and his mate mark saunders, john walsh and me!
mouldy is still with the family. andy stonebridge is at mtc-alconbury in the office. colin wild (rochdale cowboy) not seen him either. ken schilling (think thats correct spelling).
After posting that last night, I remembered that Big Abdul went to Youngs or Youngers and the trailers have black not dark blue curtains, the units are definitely a deep golden yellow though, I got that bit right .
And Clint is with ■■ Davidsons I think it is. Blue Mercs with white box trailers which have the name etc on the sides in the same shade of blue
I seem to remember hearing that Ziggi was with Ewals, but that was a while back, she might have moved on since then.
Now I know who you mean by Cornish Phil. He was on the young drivers scheme with R&R (formerly Rowe and co) in Redruth. I heard he was on the transporters with Ontime and was having a blast but my source of info dried up after a serious and, as yet, unresolved falling out.
John is still with Daveys livestock. Last I heard he had an XF or possibly a Foden. Didn’t get chance to find him, but I will see if I can get contact details for him and Phil if you want them.
MTC-Alconbury? do they do european? I’m not in touch with what’s happening in the UK now. After i left Murfitts, I went to Robert Websters in Ipswitch, doing Wine out of Italy. I have a good friend that’s looking for work. If anyone can help, that would be great.
r slicker:
do you mean edmondsons si ■■. he is with seagull steve on their. clint was on quickfreight for a while also.
Thats them r slicker, Edmondsons.
Clint was with Quickfreight, from the time he was made redundant from Murfitts until recently. I think he was one of the lads who was given the keys to his Murfitts wagon when he started at Quickfreight.
MTC definitely do European work wiggum. I see them occasionally over the water.
westermann still exist nian, but i think they pulled out of the UK market as such quite a while ago
never taken much notice of quickfreight but it looks like it’s owned by brinor, and manfred’s son (or some relation) is the traffic manager - anyone know more about them?
50/50. john reynolds from oswestry and brinor. formed a partnership to take over the murfitts work. didnt quite happen. john is a top bloke. pays the drivers more to go slower ■■?. does not like the motors being driven over 50 mph.
Amate of mine did some driving for murfitts in the 90s on the artics mostly. He was called alan dean used to live in bolton. He went to murfitts from k s harveys at farnworth [bolton]
