I’ve seen your posts here a lot, Rob and enjoy them greatly though I don’t believe I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with you here yet.
Nevertheless, I’m sorry to hear about what happened and wish you a full and speedy recovery; my thoughts and condolences go out to all involved.
Hi Rob, good to see that you are now back home and in the arms of the people who you need to be with and ‘really love & care about you, your family,’
that’s got to be the best place to be at the moment
I just think that over the last year quite a few TNUK members have been through some very traumatic events and all forum members have rallied round to show and offer support in whatever way
We are not all personally known to each other but sometimes it can feel like that when youv’e been having a bit of banter or putting the haulage world to rights in some thread or other
This lastest incident involving Rob (Mr Vain) has really shown how a forum of this type can bring like minded working colleagues together, from all parts of the country, espescially when things go wrong and hopefully be there for them when and if needed.
I think most of us are fully aware of the ‘over and above the call of duty’ work that Rob puts in to the Eastcoast Truckers Charity and the famous Annual Convoy, along with a lot of others I think this shows the true heart of the ‘Man’ and he must now know that there are a big gang of wagon/lorry/truck drivers out here who will do anything they can to help out if needed
Hopefully everything will be sorted out and Rob will feel up to it coz I’m sure the next one is coming up very soon
Hope things are getting better for you and your family, Rob, and sincere condolences to the deceased car drivers’ family and their loved one’s.
A road user death is just seen as just another road user death
It doesn’t matter how big or how small the vehicle was that they were driving but now because of an error of judgement, lapse of concentration or just impatience they are never going to be arriving home
and a lot of other road user’s have to pick up the pieces and move on with their own live’s
Get well soon Rob (Mr Vain) & family
Regards
Dave Penn;
I dont post much on here but i feel i have to on this, I definately don’t know what you are feeling like at the moment mate having never been in this situation, but i really feel for you Rob, this has got to be every drivers nightmare. As i said i have never been in this situation so i can’t really offer any 1st hand advice, only to listen to what others have posted and get professional help to get through it because you don’t want this eating away at you over the next few months/years. All the best anyway Rob and i hope everything works out for you in the future mate.
sorry to hear about your troubles mr billman, you’ve had it rough this year, hope it picks up for you.regards
Best wishes Rob
Well, i’ve had so many goodwill messages, all of which are very much appreciated. As for counciling, i think this maybe something i’m going to have to do.
I’m on a real rollercoaster of emotions just now. I’m reliving the moments more often than i care to mention. I saw everything happen and was powerless to do anything. The worst thing for me now is i feel a fraud. I’m not injured, i’m home safe and sound. I can’t think how else to explain it.
Tough time, Rob. Here’s hoping you and Mr Vain are back on the road soon.
Take it handy.
Sorry to hear about this tragic news, all the best to Rob, and condolences to the affected families.
Symapathies to Rob and condolences to the families involved,There but for the grace of God…
Hi rob sorry to here about your accident i hope you and your truck are back on the road soon. please take the counseling it is there to help again hope you are back at work soon
Rob,
so sorry to hear of this tragic accident, I was unfortunate enough to be involved in a fatal accident in 94 so hence my utter disgust of the animal in the A2/M post.
I personally tried to tough it out and eventually it all came to a head after months of causing my family anguish and hurt as I went through my healing process. In the end I took councilling for stress related to the accident my only regret was that I didn’t seek help earlier.
There were 2 main points for me that councilling made clear,
Was I doing anything wrong:- the answer is no and I am 100% sure that it is the same in your case
Could I have done anything different to avoid it happening:- again the answer is no if there was you would have done it
I beat myself up for months on those 2 points although I knew the answer myself, the counciller just enforces it and the fact that you are an innocent party in an accident.
As another has said previously emmotions will be very high and for a while but that’s what your family and close friends are there for.
Once again I hope you feel better as soon as possible and wish you and your family well on your road to recovery.
