Hi Mr Tango Boy…do you have any older pictures of emmersons wagons ?they ve been going for a long time . I remember my late dad moonlighting there in the late 1950s when I was a kid. Their yard was in belton at that time. One of the owners lived near my parents on bardon road .Their old trucks were red and green. They had a load of Leyland comets out of bardon and gradually went onto Fodens later on.

Chris Emerson He had a Magnum for a bit now he has this.
Ive been in and out of Mount Sorrell pit in Leicestershire more than a few times and wonder if any of you have any pics of the wagons that used to run in and out in the 60s, 70s 80s & 90s. That was probably the heyday of the owner driver and small fleet operator. Pretty much everything operating from there now is Lafarge white.
But what about the old Redland green fleet, Kinch Bulk Haulage, Selby Garage, Wesmore, BC Chapman, Alan Morrell, Gerald Smith, D Cooper, Eric Elliot etc.
Or some of the fleets that used to come in from Cambs/Beds etc, K Watson, Fairholme Haulage,M & R Transport, Wildman, Edwards Bros, E & M Bacon, Helletts,Kidman,CP Gray etc.
I had 4 lorries running out of mountsorrel, an FL10 8x4 and 2 F10’s 4x2 artics and last but not least an ex Redland Leyland Bison 6x4, A few other companies were Westmores from Enderby, Moores from Ashby,Tuckers, and a lot more I cannot remember. I actualy drove one of Kinches F12’s before becoming an owner operator. I have a few pictures will try and post them later cheers Kev
I remember Wesmores grey eight wheelers and Tucker’s maroon Volvos.
Also remember Graham Voss, Andy Hulse (when he only had one Foden eight wheeler).
Kinch had a big fleet of Fodens and a few ERFs and then just seekmed to disappear.
Ive seen an Alpha running about with the Kinch name on it, is it the same firm?
Hi Mark,
Westmores had some old gardner fodens and then later he replaced them with new ones still in the grey scheme,I drove for them and bought my Bison of them to become an owner operator and then progressed to 1 F88 that was my toy 2 F10 flat tops and a F12 intercooler high top and they were all blue except the F12 I never got round to painting it and 1 Ford Transcon, they all carried the name K R Turner; I can remember all Graham Vosses lads, during the late 80’s early 90’s a lot of them dissapeared work got very tight and the rates were poor, another one I worked for was Derek Weatley I drove the 8x4 Foden XJVI for about 2yrs, he had 4 8x4’s in their ooh happy days.
My F10’s were only in Redland a short time I then operated them on the continent, running to Belgium and Holland the F12 allways ran out of Tarmac at Ellistown along side my mates fleet of Volvo’s P & M Ruck running back and forth to Ampthill and potten sand back to tarmac. The Transcon was always on the continent all over the place .
Dont know what happened to Kinches they had quite a few eight wheelers running out of Mountsorrel I can only remember the 2 F12’s and the one I had was VRY207X, like you say they seemed to just dissapear.
cannot find how to download pics on here so if you want to contact me feel free spey2@aol.com best regards Kev.
