I’ll say it again there’s no need to go over your time by even one minute other than exceptional circumstances. If you do it’s due to poor planning, poor time management, or by pushing it to try and impress your planners or transport manager.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
going over your time is mostly caused by those adhering to speed limits.
if you just completely ignore them as much as possible then you fly through your day with masses of time to spare.
Punchy Dan:
Hmm that’s a lot of times being pulled up since 2015
Sorry Dan, …It’s late, I’ve had a few cans, my team got beat again today, me and the Mrs have had a quick ruck, (not a typo btw ) …and I keep getting wound up on here by a (nah I won’t go there )
So I’m a bit slow bud, and that has gone right over my swede tbh.
2015? Wtf you on about mate??

Ok, but nobody’s disputing that or disputed it on this thread, certainly not me.
It’s your other post where you say everybody else is wrong not to get stressed out over trivialities, otherwise they are not professional that pressed my buttons.
Btw tramping is worlds apart from tight scheduled day work in this context.

It’s not trivial though. And if he’s bothered about it it shows he takes pride in his work and is professional towards it. A one off occasion, fine, but if your card shows a load of minor infringements because you think it’s trivial I don’t think DVSA would see it like that if they download your card. Just like strapping loads maybe trivial, ok until DVSA ask you to open the curtains.

It’s all over the top crap coming from people who should know better
If you are not giving enough time it’s your own fault for doing it and that includes delays where you need to use your brain

Remember the last time I drove over 3 hours straight.
I’ll nearly always be stopped for 20 minutes(ish) inside of an hour and a half.
Same here, and I always split my break 15 and 30.
I don’t look upon a break as something I have to ‘‘get in’’ like some who are daft enough to look at them that way (as well as with their 11 hours off instead of 9 as a disadvantage…thick as )
Nor as a means to get a planned job done, they are there for OUR benefit, not the firm’s benefit, and if I’m tired I’ll stop for a 15 min kip whatever.

Ahhh right, you can’t win the argument, you’ve been shown up to be talking through your arse, so you react by resorting to petty and childish comments.
I get you now mate. :

I used the term very loosely, you ‘‘wound me up’’ purely in the context of a discussion on a forum…it ain’t real life you know.
But if you confuse the two, and it makes you happy, then spot on .

I have won the argument. It’s you who’s talking out of your arse (as usual “robroy is always right and knows it all” allegedly”. Your talking out of your arse because your telling the op to not care about going over time because it’s trivial. Same sort of advice as what drivers give to newbies “don’t bother strapping your load because I’ve been driving 30 years and nothing has moved”. Not the point is it. If you want to do not strap a load then fine, if your happy going a few minutes over time because a few mins is trivial then again fine, but it’s not advice which should be handed out to someone starting out. Don’t bother staying with in the rules as it’s only a rough guide is basically what your saying. And that’s why I’m correct in this because I’m the only one here actually telling him to the right thing.

The irony in that post must have been unintended. For myself I try to stay within the rules but, if memory serves, I’ve had 3 infringements in the last 2 years, 1 was 4:31 drive time after 2 of 3 lanes we are closed by an accident, 2 were going over 6 hours getting caught in the London traffic. Sometimes your best efforts come unstuck & after I did the printouts, at the time, signed the company form I didn’t waste another second thinking about them. The’re done, can’t change it move on with life.

Yeh maybe I am right on my approach to the job, and trying to make the best of it and easy, because I’ve got it sussed …and unlike some who seem to think they know better than me (can’t think who that may be btw) although they have only been in it 5 mins. (Just sussed what Dan meant btw)
In your fantasy land I did say that about strapping up, but we all know in reality I did not, nor did I give him carte blanche to do wtf he wanted regarding drivers hours, I was talking about a specific thing in a specific situation…but despite you coming across as a bit dim and unable to grasp my point, you already know that don’t you.
Anyhow, can’t see how we can progress on this point, (even though you are hanging on to it like a terrier ) so maybe let’s knock it on the head eh?

I don’t and you know I don’t but I’ve also posted that the odd going over a minute once in a blue flood isn’t going to cause you an issue and that it is when you demonstrate a regular breaching they’re going to be then looking at you for those 1 minute going over. I’m one of the most ■■■■ on here to keeping to the rules and I’ll often take another break if it looks like I’m going to have much less than 10 minutes left when I get back to the yard because its a big yard and you can use that much just driving between trailer park to pumps to wash to unit parking. But if I get back and as I’m in the unit driving back to its parking bay from the wash and it ticks over that minute as I’m reversing into the parking bay am I going to be bricking it? No. Will DVSA bod care? No because it’s obvious I’ve been doing end of duty tasks in the yard off road and there’s no “driving without card” on the tacho following me taking it out and starting my daily/weekly rest.
