Mayor of London wants a truck ban

I agree with a truck ban, NO TRUCKS ANYWHERE INSIDE THE M25… END OF…
See how long til they pull their heads out of their a**eholes.

Mayor of London wants a truck ban. Promises ,promises! :unamused:

Of course there are people who like working and driving in the Greatest city in the world, but there are those that CAN actually drive here, most who moan about driving here, are in fact afraid to, the traffic scares them, the volume of people scares them, and of course the diversity of the population, and dare i say it, cyclists. Its a fact that if you have been driving in rural areas all your life, then one can understand your fears, and maybe you should really get out more for the reality is this, a very true saying started in London ( The greatest city in the world) If you can drive in London, you can drive anywhere and that certainly is very true, i have driven in all of the major cities in Europe and beyond, so my training certainly did me proud. especially when we had to back down streets only fit for horse and carts, to load by overhead gantries, with well worn strops, etc etc, so i certainly would welcome a total truck ban over a certain weight, in all major town centers, not just London, and it wont happen in my lifetime, but get some businesses out of town centers, so big trucks dont have to go there, and build regional centers to transfer the goods in…simples.

I did after I posted but was sucked in by the use of “look” luke (easily amused). P.S. I did not realise the thread ran to 3 pages before premature ■■■■■■■■■■■■■ P.P.S - seen your vid of 8 drops in Lundoon very impressive and great wee tip about uncoupling and drawing the unit forward so some idiot does not block you in.

Fixed that.

You’ve obviously missed countless posts pointing out that the M25 doesn’t form London’s boundary. :unamused:

Ironically most of those who call it the so called ‘greatest city in the world’ don’t live there nor would they want to live there. It’s like all cities it’s an urban sprawl with a zb quality of life for those unlucky enough to be living there nothing more.Although having said that most of those who are unlucky enough to be living there only have themselves to blame usually because the urban environment that they’ve built for themselves there is all they know and they don’t know any better.

As for London drivers like most other city drivers they wouldn’t last 5 minutes on an unlimited section of autobahn and you can see their standard of driving anytime as soon as they haven’t got the benefit of a 30 mph limit to protect them from their mitakes when they venture onto the M25.Which is why that motorway is often at a crawl because the Londoners are often scared to drive over 30 mph, with good reason knowing their zb driving abilities whenever I’ve been unlucky enough to cross ‘the border’.

As for building out of town transhipment depots to protect them from their continuing wish for unlimited urban growth no thanks.Like everything else they’ve made their bed let them lie in it.

Carry fast do you own a pair of string back driving gloves?

Carryfast just accept we are all different and we all like different things. I along with many others love London and have lived in various parts of it at various times. And one day I dream of living in London again. In fact I’d quite happily see out my days there. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean its a zb hole. Just means it is to you. Opinions old bean, its all just opinions.

 Why thank you I’m glad you liked the vid. That is a handy tip isn’t it, one of our drivers told me that one so I cant claim full credit.

I can’t get what you are all talking about. I used to be regular to London charging zone in 18 tonners, I am still quite regular there on Sprinters and can’t see anything you talking about - all these crazy drivers, mad cyclists, cutting drivers…

I would say that London is actually one of the most relaxing big cities to drive (unless its friday afternoon traffic, then it’s annoying place to read a book as you have to put it away and move few metres forward every two minutes or so :grimacing: ).

Incidentally I was asked about it on some sister forum once, so I made a movie to show people how is to drive in London, and everyone (not only Poles, but also Italiand, French and Germans) agreed that London is on the top of the list when it comes to driving culture, curiosity of other drivers and all stuff like this…

I would definitely not like to live in London, nothing wrong with that, it’s a nice city, I just don’t like too big cities. But I definitely like to go there from time to time, and in my old place of work I was “London specialist” as nobody else liked it and I really enjoyed.

In my view someone who complains about “crazy drivers in London” or “how annoying it is to drive there” never was to Paris or other european metropolies

Sounds good to me let the crap hole starve to death!

Cant understand “the natives” anyway

Somali has never been a language I could get my tongue round or Urdu come to that!

You’re right about Paris. London is easy in comparison

If only all the Londoners agreed with you in which case after WW2 they could have rebuilt their damaged houses and stayed where they were ever since instead of constantly looking outward to the surrounding counties and countryside to escape the urban hell that they’d built, and continue to build, for themselves.

Which in reality translates into everyone else around the place being expected to pay for their bonkers ideas, concerning unlimited continuing urban growth, with the urban sprawl housing estates of ‘Greater London’ all built in the surrounding counties, not to mention the GLC/GLA takeover of those areas, instead of them keeping to their own urban jungle, being the proof. :imp:

While as many have said here the issue will probably eventually result in the place not wanting to put up with the commercial traffic, which it’s loopy growth policies generate,in the form of a truck ban which puts even more demand for development of transhipment depots built in,what remains of,those surrounding counties. As I’ve said the implications of those continuing policies will eventually lead to the knock on effects eventually reaching the south coast. At which point no doubt the French will then be ‘invited’ to hand over some of Northern France to London’s continuing expansion. :open_mouth: :unamused:

London expands because its population is getting bigger Carryfast. That’s a surprisingly easy concept I’m surprised you haven’t grasped it. I suppose its getting bigger because everyone hates it so. Stop dressing up your opinions as fact

Yeah, that’s SOME road rage :unamused:

Now this pic is even more funny:

I love driving in London.
There is always something to look at, Buildings,Views, cars or just the different people.
Just yesterday as I made my way around the South Circular, I saw a man dressed in a Leopard skin Trilby Hat with a full length Fur coat trying to hitch a lift. He was either drunk or mad but it did make me laugh.

You don’t see that driving up the M11.

I’d quite like to live in central London or Greenwich sadly I can’t afford it.
