Mr Bo-Jo is a keen cyclist, and wants to ban trucks due to the high number of fatal RTC`s with us truckers in London, there is no mention of a timed restriction, just on the routes where the bikes are on, it was in one of the truck magazines.
Got my vote. Let them starve/freeze/live in their own waste/have icy roads etc
Would be cheaper to train the stupid ■■■■■ how not to cone up the inside off a truck at lights how not to weave in and out off traffic how not to jump red lights how not to cycle down roads at 7 at night with no lights need I go on…? Ban all the trucks great idea where’s he planning on doing his food shop next week then? [zb] idiot.
Hey lads, what about the canals, bring back all the horses and donkeys to haul 26 pallets of “chilled” to Tosco and Sainsbugs■■?!!!

+1.
Ken.
I’ll vote for it but a total ban on goods vehicles over 3 ton
It wont happen but just supposing it did i’d be gutted, love driving in london its such an amazing city and always get excited if im given a few drops in or near the centre.
If they get their way, they will have to lift all the night time bans and the weekend bans, he would win a liot of votes and be the Mayor again, if he gets his way to please the loony brigade and tree huggers.
He’s like all the rest of them they all seem to lose the plot after they’ve been stuck in that conctrete zb hole for a while.I think his plan is to make London a motor transport free cycle only zone, while calling for more tower blocks to be built for all the people who won’t want to live there, because they won’t be able to get anything delivered or travel anywhere even they wanted to live in a tower block. So there’s no difference between him and Ken Livingstone.

Id vote for it. Just build a big depot outside the city limits and send in 100,000 white vans everyday. More jobs for all the foreigners that live there. Of course you would need a separate tax on goods to pay for all these vans but i think the good folk of london town should bare that alone.
Lets say the mayor of Paris suggested the same, the French truckers wouldn’t hesitate in completely blocking Paris off, and bring the city and its population down on its knees. What do we do… Sweet FA !
I myself like travelling through centre but no matter where you go in the centre there are some nut jobs on bikes. I try and keep to the outside lane so not weaving in and out for cyclists and buses. Not been for a few months now but was going through daily during the olympics and was much better during this time as i presume everyone was either in East London or at home. But on another note how many more firms would be building DC’s round the M25 such as Sainsburys or Tesco which have big places near Bellcommon tunnel and run vans into the centre leaving us 44t out the capital
good, cant understand why they cant have big warehouses on the outskirts of the major cities and have the little motors deliver everything into the centres, life would be so much simpler

I derive a strange satisfaction from driving in London. It actually feels like you’ve been somewhere…

I have been saying that for years. A few strategically placed warehouses and a fleet of electric trucks would do it. Most goods are on pallets or in cages these days so handling wouldn’t be a problem. The warehouses would work the same way that the Pallet system hubs work already because there would be two way traffic anyway.
Of course there would have to be some trucks allowed - tippers for one, and construction loads in general. They would have a pre-determined route and a time slot.
Of course it would need legislation but I suspect it would be popular - so what’s the problem?
What i dont get is why people dislike driving in london, you never seem to get a good reason as to why drivers wont or dont want to go there.

Sounds simple doesnt it, but us little guys seem never to get a word in which to me makes perfect sense

No they wouldn’t, not for nothing more than a suggestion in a magazine, plus they probably share the views many on this forum have of London, they don’t want to go there. London is a piece of ■■■■ compared to Paris. And anyway, France is a long way from the workers utopia its made out to be on this forum.
