Margaret Thatcher dies

Have to agree with Ken. Although I’m no Thatcherite and think she made some big, costly errors she also had people praising her today. No-one will praise Blair.

Unions are only ever as strong as the people running them or working against them. I just remember how the TGWU did nothing for the Castle Cement drivers at Ketton in the early 90’s. People will have to do their own research on that one though as my personal thoughts will probably be biased as my Dad was on the picket line.

I don’t know who shafted more miners, her or saville

By the early 90s Thatcher and her cronies had the unions tied down with the new laws

Maggie Thatcher dragged this country kicking and screaming into the Twenty first century, she was the type of leader this country needs now but will not get. She believed in this country and was one of it’s greatest patriots. RIP Maggie.

A notable historical figure - no matter what your thoughts of her are/were :bulb: . RIP.

I can’t disagree with that Rog. However corruption of union officials (alleged for the purposes of this site) by the employer wasn’t one of the rules introduced.

Unions have their uses as I have seen them put up great fights for staff facing very serious disciplinary purposes but sadly their very structure leaves them wide open to people who are only involved for their own benefit.

Loathed the woman as much as she loathed the “Working Class’s”. I remember how she devastated hundreds of thousands of decent peoples lives because of it and didn’t give a ■■■■. As for her part in the Falklands war, she was a coward as were her whole cabinet. Great leader! give us a ■■■■■■ break.

Thatcher was spot on with the Falklands, helped end the cold war, smashed the commi tossers at the NUM and was right about not trusting European politicians.

Miners and steel workers along with the dockers were victims of their own greed and under Maggie I was allowed to buy my house of the council allowing me to get on the property ladder, so how was that taking from the poor to give to the rich and I earned a fortune running foreign coal into the River Trent during the miners strike and never felt guilty walking back thru the picket lines after a few beers before we went to pick up another 2000 ton.

Under Maggie what actually happened was that council house tenants were allowed to blatantly rip off the social housing system, that never should have been set up in the first place, for their own ends by effectively stealing publicly owned housing and taking it into private ownership.IE it wasn’t hers to sell or their’s to buy and own.

Then to add insult to injury many of those champaigne socialists then blamed many of the union members they worked with, for asking for decent wages,to keep paying the ever increasing mortgages,on their privately bought housing that, unlike those council tenants, they also had to save up the deposit for. While then also having to pay for that previously public owned housing for council tenants who wanted to be provided with a house through the efforts of others through their taxes.Just like her dealings with China and Russia she was nothing but an infiltrating commie with typical commie principles.

Your post shows exactly why the working class in Britain will never get ahead having been ripped off by a load of commie infiltrators of which Thatcher was one.

Like council tenants who were only too pleased to take advantage of socialist provided housing and then get involved in her blatant rip off of publicy owned assets for their own benefit. :imp:

I think the Tories policy of appeasement towards China and North Korea shows that.Although no suprise they’re happy enough with that situation so long as China keeps the kick backs for the rich business owners flowing paid for out of forced labour. While the Chinese communist party invests the profits in more weapons used to keep the rich zb’s here afraid enough to keep the whole scam going.

Just seen the plans for Margaret Thatcher’s grave.

Beautiful really, but I think they should have made the dancefloor bigger

Exactly which of her policies are no longer being used now and exactly what policies of hers do we need now that we haven’t already had/got and that have been proved not to work. The fact is the economy is now a service industry based industrial wasteland reliant on imports and wages based on printed borrowed money. While the weakened unions can’t keep incomes in line with the resulting ever decreasing value of the currency in real terms.

While I didn’t agree with everything she did by any means, selling off council housing for one,but in 1979 this country was ■■■■■■,absolutely, and a Labour government and it’s union paymasters were in charge remember.Does this"ring any bells" with what the most recent Labour adminstration allowed to happen, and they will do the same again if Nasal Milliband(Union puppet) and Comrade Balls win the next election. These two ■■■■■■■ don’t seem able to grasp basic arithmatic that if you are spending £4 but only taking in £3 you will end up in the ■■■■ eventually !!Don’t get me wrong,I do not reckon much to Cameron and Osborne either and Clegg is just a duplicitous little ■■■■ who will surely lose his seat at the next General Election,I’ll be voting UKIP next time,I know some will say it is a wasted vote but if enough were to vote for them it would shake the two main parties to their core and maybe force them to listen to ordinary voters, and it may hasten a referendum on the EU with the result, hopefully, leading to the UK leaving that rotten eddifice!! Cheers Bewick.

Miners became obsolete when O&K launched the RH120

And for her detractors, you may of been unhappy with her actions but she had the support of the majority of our country for 12 years.

Read the post again you managed to miss the point, it was character I was referring to not policies. I think we’ve moved on a little in the last thirty years.

The answer is the LABOUR party

The Exploited wrote a few good songs about her. As did a lot of punk bands in the early 80s.
