It’s not only the French to blame, I think UK laws regarding social benefits,NHS, ID cards, work - not punishing employers for hire and exploit illegals is the big problem.
ID cards and municipality registration works in the rest of EU, illegals are hardly able to rent/work/live under the radar in mainland EU.
Try as British EU national to claim benefits in EU country without proper documentation and FIRST proven contribution into the system of minimum 1 year, it’s impossible.
Ah the national ID card, what a good idea that is. Didn’t we try to introduce it here a few years ago? I seem to remember it getting binned as it threatened our human rights, or some such pish anyway. Looks a good plan now though don’t you think.
